Show us your curly plants
This is a great idea for a thread. I don't have any curly plants, but I'm looking forward to seeing everyone else's.
Your first curley looks like Nite Blooming cerius(sp)
Great thread by yhe way.
oh wow that is the best looking plant!
I've been looking for a pic of a potted curlty liriope that I have and cannot find it to save my life. Plus I need to take a pic of my ponytail plant. that's curly.
My first pic is of one of my ponytail palms, but this one had the best curly leaves. I think there are some fantastic curly hoyas. Maybe someone has a picture !
Great idea for a thread ! Come to think of it, I don't have any curly plants, either.
me neither.

Thanks.
Hey Taylor, so good to see you posting! Yes, the purple wonder is a Echeveria gibbiflora.
I am so into echeveria madness too!!!! I may need a big intervention very soon. I want 2 of each and may be there by the end of the summer. They sell such small ones, they are like potato chips, I want the whole bag once I start.
Oh I so love your AVs. Esp the green edged flowers. WOW! I kill them or I would race Pirl to the site.
Pirl, your GD is the prettiest bloom of all! You lucky duck!
I am off soon for a marathon nursery run. I am insane with desire. We have had such rain, it has made me so needy.
I love your farfugium. I always wanted to name my new dog yet to be Farfugium, Fugie for short. When I started collecting farfugiums, I did so for the name more than the plant. LOL I have a huge Farfugium japonicum 'Crispata.'
Thank you ge1836. The colors are incredible but I really like the caruncles with the infamous farinaceus frost.
I forgot to tell you it is Brunsvigia marginata ge1836, a member of the amaryllis family. I would think NY would be too cold but I am not an expert on these.
It occurs to me if I start posting my begonia pics, i could fill your thread Nery with curly Qs!
Yup...mine is cristata, too. It is pretty newly planted...you say huge...uh-oh...how big do they get?
caruncles with the infamous farinaceus frost.
LOL!!...ok, I'm familiar with farinaceous dust, but caruncles is my new word for the day. I'll be saying it all day now, lol...
Enjoy yourself! :0)
Yes, of course I remember, lol...
That is "Kew-uhl"!..
reminds looks like a purple turtles head in that picture :0)
Neat plant!
I have never seen anything like that plant.
Must be a California thing Kell.lol
Hiya Kell...I went googling that echeveria gibbiflora up, and most of the pictures show a smooth one...
A few have the curls, but didn't see a whole lot of carnuncles...is there a hybrid name after the ehceveria gibbiflora?...
I saw one mauna loa? Is that it?
One reference mentioned a hybrid carunculata...that has got to be it, but no pics...?

Dick Wright is credited with creating a lot of the Echeveria hybrids including some of the fantastic echeveria gibbiflora.

One of the best articles on echies written by our own palmbob:
http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/996/
One thing I noted in another article and what I totally agree on "If you live in Arizona or Florida, echeverias will be a challenge—they prefer a frost-free but temperate climate, most species inhabiting altitudes between 3000 and 10,000 feet in the Mexican sierras or South American Andes. The happiest I ever saw in cultivation were in Carmel and San Francisco, California, where sea-breezes and occasional cold fog brightened their colors."
I am really not sure what many of the ones I see really are, Taylor. They are usually marked Echeveria gibbiflora hybrid. Many are a bit different from each other so I wonder if they are seedlings. Awhile back I looked though PF and I found a bunch with caruncles. Of course now I can't find my list. Many seem to be so different under the same name.
Here are 2.

Here is a cool colored one.
Hey Sue, the sun is out. And so I am going to be I just decided. Stay home and clean the house and then prune my dreaded roses or go out and be so bad? LOL, I am so off!
Call me!!
Very cool colors! I bet it was a lot.
Shoot, I just saw this now. Did you want to be my cohort in crime? I would have loved that Sue! I had a long and fun day. I got home after 7 with no dinner and no cleaning done. My husband's wash was still sitting in front of the washer. Well that is not true, he had put it in the washer when he got home BEFORE ME! I just now sat down with my dinner and a glass of wine and a broken back.
I got nothing much and then I scored big. I am in such trouble. LOL I bought 2 - different ones! I am so excited. One is better than the other, depending on which I am looking at!! They are still in the car hiding.
This has been my heart's desire since I went to LA with Lali the first time a few years ago and saw a white one (different than this but not as fantastic) at the Huntington in the GH. NOT FOR SALE! I was tormented all this time. So today, I walk into this nursery, walk all the way thru the outside with nothing even worth a second look, then go inside to the houseplants. My eyes started its 360 degree circle but only made it to about 90 degrees and I gasped in pure unadulterated delight. Tell me this is not incredible!
I am so chuffed at now having an almost white bromeliad! This pic is not great but good enough, I only took one at the nursery.
