Gardening is a dainty activity?

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Oh, and speaking of gloves, I wanted to add, I used to hate garden gloves until I started using those Atlas nitrile ones, best things ever. I get the small and they fit perfect, never feels like I have an annoying glove on.

Zuzu, you are definitely my long last sister. A few years ago, I got something in my leg, the Dr. figured a piece of a rose leaf, and it took almost a year to heal. I was having some sort of allergic reaction to it, it was like water coming out of it all the time. Rounds and rounds of antibiotics. It wasn't painful like yours, but worrisome.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

How ironic that you were sabotaged by a rose and I was sabotaged by an iris. Is this a sign that we should focus on our strengths and leave the other plants to others?

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Most probably.

I never heard of anyone being attacked by an iris leaf. I will have to start wearing long pants when I'm in them. I still have quite a scar on my leg, and a few inches around the scar turned darker than my normal skin color and has never changed.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

uh oh...sounds like an advanced case of the go-bloots. You both might have to have your zorch removed.

Time to see a specialist.

Sebastopol, CA(Zone 9a)

My zorch was removed the last time I turned green. If I turn green again, I'm a goner.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

But if I get the go-bloots and turn green won't I be gone?

Our age is showing JD.

Let's see how many others know what you're referring to.

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Ahhh, Zuzu knows.

We cross posted, sis.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

aaah Polly...you're a quick one ! LOL

I was wondering if anyone would pick up on it...
I also wonder what exactly Sue found when she ggogled it...

alrighty then.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Lucy 1 and Lucy 2, if you get the go bloots and turn green then I will get Ricky to come play his funeral dirge for you....(but I can't remember it's title)......too bad you will be goners and won't be able to enjoy it.

And wasn't there a green light bulb in there too, JD?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

LOL, Talk about asparagus, Ric is making me asparagus soup for V day it's so very good. A couple of years ago he made it for a special V-day dinner and I just loved it. He doesn't make it often but every once in a while if I get hungry for it and ask he will make some, but I always get it on V-Day. Can't wait to see what else he has in store. He makes me chocolate truffels, too. I got my Valentine Orchid yesterday day. I stumbled across it accidentally. There is a card and a small box sitting on the table this morning, too??????

What a romance you have going there.
Have a wonderful "day of hearts"

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Yes, he is very thoughtful and special we have been together close to 30 years now. Married for 25. One of his grand romantic gestures was to secretly build me a potting shed one weekend when I went away over night with a few girl friends. Gifts of Potting Sheds are the way to a girls heart. LOL
Want to take a look here it is.

Very nice, Holly!

I woke up yesterday morning to see something missing from the Obelisk garden...

The wind had knocked over the Obelisk from the base, which was bolted into cans of cement. The wood has just rotted out after 14 years. There is a local guy who can make us another one.

I cant seem to get out of my own way today.
Came thru the plastic door to the kitchen and rubbed the wall switch dial off, opened the sliding door to get my coat to go for a walk and the door came off the track(I did that twise) again when I came in about an hour ago.
DD and SIL are working in the kitchen this weekend refinishing a dark spot in front of the door to the deck.
They are out now buying a track for the hall door and paint.
I went to check something near the deck door and YES I did step on the tacky floor, cant wait for them to come home and se my big footprints there.
They have to refinish another spot on the floor where old cabinates were so they can retouch my ooops.
Not since the Valentines Day masacer has there been such a disaster.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Oh no!

Well, accidents happen so I hope the rest of your Valentine's Day is perfect.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its going to be because I'm going to watch TV and check Daves. How can I go wrong there?

Pirl !!!!! youare a rascle.
How did you know I have been looking at Siberian Iris since finding out about Pollies website.
I have a whole folder of them since two hours ago.
Yummy. I think they will go tucked in among the hostas.
This is my idea for the hostas and hardy geraniums.I now leave the color sample with the picture.
These sibs are Plum Frolic

Anyone who thinks gardening is 'dainty work' has certainly never gardened!! LOL. I like the Compost Cuties calendar idea.

...complete with heels and white socks ala Erma Bombeck!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

ge, sounds like you are in your own way today. LOL
Pirl, Sorry to hear about your Obelisk I very much like that. My Potting Shed blew over a couple of days ago. It's pretty heavy and took Ric and both sons to put it back into place. Ric and Jamie tried and two of them just couldn't get it. Must have been a pretty big wind gust. There were several homes/barns that lost roofs around here. So I can't complain.
Beautiful flowers BTW.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Holycow that sounds awful

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We have a junk tree in the back that serves no good purpose but to give me a shady spot when it's hot out but it has a limb that our tree guy secured to another limb. I keep hoping the bad limb will break off in a storm while plants can't be damaged. It will probably happen in some summer storm.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Not as bad as some other areas. One of the older barns didn't just lose the tin roof but the Chestnut beams, too. They may tear it down. Here are the guys getting my shed back up.

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I hope no one was in there when it fell over !!!

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

No, you can't stand in it, there is just enough space under the eaves to get a little protection. That's the Potting Shed Ric built me. Here is a picture taken the day I came home and found it. I did have a lot of things stored in there most of it non-breakable.

Just have to show off my bouquet, too.

I always get one of the Hallmark stuffed animals that has sound, and I keep them in my closet on a rack on the top that goes all the way around the closet. My granddaughter Jenna goes in the closet, climbs up on the shoe racks and plays with them. One time I told her I'd leave them to her someday, as she loved them so much, and she asked if I'd leave them to her next week when she came out.

So pretty! Love the Jenna story!

Hannibal, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks, of course by the next week she forgot all about it. She is such a character.

Russ got candy, and a steak, shrimp, and strawberry shortcake for dinner.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Hey Polly, you did good!

Great Jenna story.
Sounds like my Ethan. I have a lot of my old books, like the Raggedy Anns, etc. So he wanted to take some of them home with him. (He is 4). I told him that they needed to stay here because they could be torn easily and we needed to be careful with them, but that he could have them when I am gone. And he said, "Nana, will you be gone tomorrow?"

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hilarious !

Don't ever let him see that movie "The Bad Seed"....that little girl had a tendency to speed up people's demise when they had something she lusted for !
