that is a decision i can't help you with...................
What have you ordered for spring 2009 - Part III
Where are you fitting all these, Allison?!
Yes--I was wondering if you were going to plant all of them come summer, or sell them, Allison---you have more than my fav GH has! Pixie---awful! And Bill---we replaced our water heater 2 yrs ago---the place that manufactured it was out of business---no rebate!
Amazing Allison! Can I come shop at your place for my annuals instead of my local nursery??
I could tell DH it was a mini vacation but NOT tell him where we are going. hee hee hee
Wow!
see plenty of room left for seeds
:)
I am always scoping out a spot I can set more up... but Randy would kill me
I love it!!!!!! I bought a utility cart with shelves from Costco last spring and rigged heat pads and lights up on it. I had only 4 shelfs but it was great...rolled it around if I need too.

For 'serving', Celeste?
No, but I did turn my office into a greenhouse for few months. I have a huge 4 bulb, 2'x 4' florescent light hanging off my ceiling in a
8 x 10 room. Then there are 2 lights on each shelf of that rack so it's kinda bright. My neighbor calls me up when she see's the glow coming from the second floor of my house. "Did you start your seeds already??" lol
She's anticipating the bounty you will share!
those racks were from Randy's old job... they used to be part racks at that garage..the owner was going to throw them away when they bought new ones... randy took all the metal pieces.. we just had to buy ply wood for the shelves... and did he really think they were going to be set up in the garage for him... LOL
allison that is a nice set up!
thanks... even though it's a lot of space... it never seems to be enough
:)
i have one rack with three levels i slapped together with strapping - each level can hold four large trays - enough for the veggies and some flowers.
nice
and trust me you are neat - mine will never be seen in a photo in its current state.
ooohhhh these things happen... up until about a month ago you could barely walk in there... it's kind of the dump room when there aren't flowers growing in there
Looks great to me. I may have to order new lemon trees---I fertilized them, & all the leaves dried up---I'm heartbroken--I think I also lost my oxalis that was given to me by a friend a few months before he died. It was just a general use fert---all the other plants are fine.
Man I wish I had a basement!
I have one---the mice love it!
RD our death toll is up to 6 so far this year... this is the first year since we bought the house in 2004 that the mice came in... Randy found an easy spot under our garage door...going to have to fix that come spring.... I will give a good review for the electronic traps at HD... we had 4 come in the last wave and between the two traps we bought we caught them all in a few hours
funny thing is one was in the living room which is separate from the rest of the house... we have a bi-level and that room was added on... no basement under it... so it had no where to go... it was hiding under our sofa across from where we sit.. every time he would try to leave and head toward our kitchen... I would chase it back ... this went on for about a hour... then he found the trap... ended up being a game though
sounds like an episode of tom & jerry
exactly... I was cracking up... I saw him peek his little self out... and do a few hops towards the door.. I would jump out of my seat yelling at him to get back there... Randy was reassured I am nuts... it was just a bity baby though...
one was mulling around the kitchen... and I was heading to load up the dishwasher... it was so small and couldn't move too quick... if the sink wasn't so messy I could have caught him.. just sitting there looking at me.. once he got on the counter he was gone though
put the trap where he ran... got that one a 1/2 hour later.. but did feel bad
I think they're cute. I give them their freedom when I catch them - usually the cats get them first though.
it was during that bad cold snap we had.. if I caught them live I wouldn't have the heart to put them outside anyway
I have used the have a heart traps in the past. Then they look thirsty so I put a little capful of water in with them. Then they look cold surrounded by all the metal so I put a fuzzy earmuff in for them. The next morning I drove them to their release spot and I couldn't get them to come out of the trap.
LOL.... I had the same problem with a ground hog... kept putting ice cubes and lettuce in the cage until Randy got home.. felt bad it was hot out
Venu209, You forgot the candelabra and the violin music. What a sweetheart. Patti
that's great
in with the new.
had it moved from the middle of the room to this wall - only draw back was the chimney is in the middle of the room and the smoke pipe hangs a bit low maybe 7 1/2' high. still will be great to have a more open basement - was going to put in a slider out the back wall - will probably not now due to the view inside it would give of the pipe - unless i build a wall/room around it - we'll see.
We use regular mouse traps for mice. Caught 7 early in the fall & have not been bothered since. Not sure where they get in & with luck the batch with the memory how to do so is gone.
looks good Wha
Very nice Bill!
Wha, Nice new space. Looks like you have a great bunch of shelves. An idea about the heater and a wall. I do design work for people and had a similar situation with a big heating unit that was not in a good spot. I had the carpenter build a hinged screen which was about 8 feet high to stand around the "monster" unit. I had him first build one tall narrow fixed wall (width of the unit) and then a three sided hinged screen that hooked to the fixed wall. That way the heating unit could be accessed in a second for service. The screen became a great bulletin board. Way cheaper than a wall and as I had it painted to match the walls it sort of disappeared. Plus air circulation was better for the unit. You could probably hang things like tools on it. Just a thought.
I am about to commence to commence with some of my seeds that can be started now. I start them in the living rm as the GH is too erratic. I bought a heat mat last year which worked great. I cover the floor with a plastic tarp and because it is in the living room I try to be neat. Kind of a joke at times. I am just going to finish listing all my seeds in my DG journal today, so I should be able to get a bunch planted by tomorrow. Spring has started in my mind. Patti
Looks really good wha. Mickey lives in my garden shed. Normally he is very well behaved but this year he chewed up some peat pots :( Not good. More ammunition for the Crazy Ole Cat who is convinced he should be allowed to catch him.
