Was getting long. Continue with our new plants for this year!
What have you ordered for spring 2009 - Part III
I like perennials that re-seed and surprise you with different colors than the original. Foxgloves and columbines are a couple others besides HH that I really like for that reason. Here is a couple more pics . One is suspiciously like a fig leaf HH I had a couple years ago that didn't return or leave any babies behind, or so I thought.

There is a co-op going on for Rosy Dawn coleus. I have posted many times about how good their stuff is and a number of people on the forum took my advice and ordered last year.

victor - i sw that co-op
what is the deal can you order just a few plugs and not the whole flat of 100.
the instructions were a bit confusing.
I didn't notice a limit, Bill.
i wasn't clear - do you have to order a flat of 100 or can you get a few for a buck a piece?
I read it as $3.75 each, no matter what. I did read it quickly though.

Placed an order with Fairweather this afternoon to be picked up on 4/4 at one of their Open Houses.
a small JM ' Green Cascade' and a weeping redbud 'Covey'
Anybody else got their order in that is going to pick it up that day? I am looking forward to that.
Oh, I didn't know you could do that...cool!
Green Cascade is nice. I have not gotten my order together yet and I would like to have the option to either ship or pick up, if I go.
You better go!
Uh oh!
I also figure I will find other things while I'm there.
That way you could reserve something, Jen, in case they are limited in that particular thing.
I figure I'll put the 'Green Cascade' in a planter and baby it, cuz it is going to be pretty small. It said it's in a TT -tree tube and quite small.
"The Country Rose' restaurant is nearby and has really good pie. Does that tempt you, Victor?
I like pie.
Yumm! What kind of pies?
Good, me too. I can hardly wait. Can anybody else make it down that day?
They usually have about 10. The usuals, plus a lemony citrussy thing that I LOVE. I'll have to check into that for you.
Lemon meringue? Key lime?
Similar, but a little different.
No - I meant do they have them??!
Usually lemon meringue, don't know about the key lime. LOL
I think that Key lime pie tastes like joy dishwashing liquid
Key lime is so good! Of course I haven't tried joy yet.
hee hee
Do you mean in general, Jen, or at that place?!
In general or maybe the only time I remember trying it someone actually dropped some dish detergent in the mix.
I love key lime!
Maybe I could call there and make sure they have some that day, so that will make sure you come. :)
Joy?
Yeah, that too. :) No, silly, the key lime.
I decided I would get in on that coleus co-op. Wasn't interested in coleus until late last year. I was at a local nursery at the end of the season, and they had huge coleus plants in big pots. They were gorgeous! I was telling the owner so, and he pinched off some cuttings for me. I still have them growing in water on my kitchen windowsill. Have to pot them up soon and give the some fertilizer. They are still looking good and have lots of roots. Rosy Dawn really has a big selection. I didn't know there were so many different kinds of coleus!!!!
Btw, where is Fairweather?
Karen
Greenwich, NJ. Victor, always speaks highly of them, and lo and behold they are only about 20 miles from me and never knew it. They have Open Houses several times, but otherwise not open to the general public. Several have expressed interest in meeting up there, so I suggested a restaurant not far away for lunch. It's pretty far for you, Karen, but if you are going to be in the area...
I'd love to come to your place for the RU, but won't be able to. I am following all the planning for it though. LOL. I'll be like the fly on the plant. :)
Well, Jan, you can live vicariously through those who attend, and I will definitely post pics after the fact. Yes, Fairweather is too far for me. I will have to pass on that one.
Karen
Really loved all the HH photos--mine are pastel pink & yellow--white, also---the dark ones are lovely. How far down in Jersey is Greenwich? The only place in Jersey I've been to is the Cape May area, which I love!
it's down there

When I look at maps like that, it's amazing how little I know about where each state is. Gotta brush up on that.
