Portland, that's sweet that your parents are so up with the computer. My mom can't figure out why I take the time to check my email every day or every other day or why my neice, and nephew who are 10 and 8, will email me, but not her. I always just say, they want to email some one who will get back to them.
Weird Weather of '09!! ....... #4
Judi, mom asked me to say thanks for the card, she really did enjoy it.
She has appreciated all the information from everyone......it has been good to have feedback from people who "have been there".....
Had breakfast......at 9:45 had a snack, antibiotic and anti nausea......just took the pain med so we will see how this round goes.
I hope it all works for her!
Now where else could you find such a gathering of folks, so well versed in the subject, giving out the advice for free!!
Oops, I thought I got paid for all the advise I gave on here. It will cost someone a pretty "PENNY".
hahaha
Seriously I wish you cold see how happy it has made her that people here on DG have shown an interest and passed on info and well wishes....just like a little kid...
Thanks to all the advice the meds are staying down well......so is she, she isn't so happy about that part...pops a pecocet and within 10 minutes it is back to bed again.....of course one glass of wine affects her the same way....lol....
Good part of all this I got to talk to my little sister yesterday....it was her first day back to work in almost two months due to back problems....and they have discovered fluid around her heart....she goes in for test with that early next week....with all the problems she and her family have had over the past several years...I won't complain...WE are doing wonderful in comparison!
Hugs to your mom today from south Jersey, Trisha. Mine is in bed for her afternoon siesta. She always said she didn't nap, but would sit in her chair with her chin on her chest dozing. She would say' she was just resting her eyes' LOL.. I finally convinced her to rest in bed, cuz it would relieve the stress on her back, plus get her feet up, so now, she actually sleeps for awhile.
Trisha, so happy to hear your mom is able to keep the meds and food down. ^_^
I hope your little sisters test shows something.
Also happy to hear you're doing so well!
Susan
Mom just smiles and asks me to than you all for her....Thanks!!
Tell her if gets on a computer we can say chat with her every day. And she can post a photo of her stitches! ♡
Today is one of those "I don't feel like doing a darn thing" days and I had to force myself to take the dog for a walk. Had the usual dose of caffeine but still feeling lazy. I'm making pulled pork in the slow cooker so even that takes almost no effort! OK I did have to open the bottle of barbecue sauce & a root beer - it's a recipe I have never tried but looked interesting.
My little packet of Double Blue Picotee morning glory seeds arrived today. Now to figure out what to do with them! I had to move my hellebores (still in their nursery pots) to a sheltered area last night as it was sooooo windy and cold. Still very cold today.
Trisha, so glad your mom is doing better (and that you're all getting rest). Give her a hug from me.
And I hope your sister's problem is treated quickly.
Love your heart, Judi. That pulled pork sounds good. It's one of my favorites - I'd like to hear how the root beer adds to it.
Love pulled pork here, too. :)))
The hail just started to come down, cutting short a perfectly good day in the yard :-(
Well if the weather is going bonkers again, we all need your pulled pork recipe. It sounds great and I've been wanting to try my slow cooker again.
I second that motion. :)
Go to allrecipes.com, search "pulled pork slow cooker" and choose the one with rootbeer. I use Virgil rootbeer and Annie's barbecue sauce since they are both gluten free. I also added 1/2 onion chopped.
Hail - whoa!!! So sorry RC! That sucks! Let's just hope your snow days are over.
Sorry you guys are having such inclement weather. We've had a break up here - cold, but no precipitation. I'm planning on being out, rain or shine tomorrow, so I have my fingers crossed that it'll at least be rain and not snow.
Thanks for the recipe, Judi. I think I'll try it this weekend.
rc.....again! You must be keeping most of it to yourself. We went to the coast today, it was dry but cold. Went to lunch at mom's favorite casino. Did a little sight seeing. I couldn't believe how low Fern Ridge Lake is, looks more like mud flats. Came home to sprinkles, but that's all so far.
Trisha...so glad to hear your mom is doing better and hope your little sis will too. My mom always smiles big when I say something about what someone on DG said. She likes hearing about the stories, sometimes I take my lap top over and show her pictures.
Judi...I surprised you ever have a lazy day, are you sure you aren't coming down with something? LOL
Mort... you didn't eavesdrop!! We are all part of the conversation here. Did you paint that picture??? It's really good and very cute.
Thanks all. It kept at the hail off and on for about 2 hours. Seems to be done now. I hope the snow days are over as well. However, if annual statistics hold true, that's definitely not the case!
Ahhhhh ..... how sweet she is!
Sweet little girl and sweet little birds...perfect combination.
Mortswife...not eavesdropping, lurking. I do it all the time. LOL And you're welcome anytime!
Sally - funny you said that about coming down with something. I now have a fever and chills so took a hot bath and off to bed I go.
When I made the pulled pork I saved some of the rootbeer that cooked with the pork and left it in. It made the sauce so good and it didn't taste like barbecue sauce from a bottle. I usually make my own bbq sauce bit was too lazy.
Maybe I was cool back then but in college I turned into a nerd.
Hope you're not coming down with something, Judi. Apparently it's been a tough flu season.
Laura hope that your feeling better today :0)
Good morning everyone! Happy Valentine's Day! I got up this morning to an inch of snow AND A NEW BABY CALF on the ground! Will post pics when I get them. I don't know whethher it's a heifer or bull yet, but will let you know when I find out.^_^
Susan
Ok it's too early for abbreviations! LOL! PBR bull???
Susan
I think it's Professional Bull Riding. My cousin who recently died loved following the bull riders.
Good call Jan!! I had no idea either. That makes perfect sense though.
Sorry Susan-I am so into PBR that I assumed everyone knew it is Professional Bull Riding. We know the family of Ross Coleman, a world champion from Molalla. Hubby did his cousin's wedding in the Coleman barn a few years ago. So much for trivia today. Happy Valentine's.
PS i'm on the office computer so I have different pictures.
Thanks you two! It's a Bull! He weighs about 90#. I got to pet him before mom took him away. That other one on the right his her first calf 18 months ago. Quite a bit of difference in size! LOL! He's a steer now and will be someones dinner next winter. They're both black Baldie's, Polled Hereford sire/Black Angus dam. I have other pics but show my neighbor's ugly place so will get other pics later.

What a cutie. My dad raised polled herefords when I was on the farm. I got one for a wedding present-then mom bought it back from me.
Thank you! How funny!!! ROFL!!!
Okay, Susan. I didn't need to know that. :-) Can we just pretend, for the sake of us sensitive ones on the list that he's a pet?
Thanks . . .
Kathy, If he was a nice steer I'd say ok but he's a little (uh big) stinker. Not to be trusted. We have to be careful that we don't turn our backs to him when he's in an awnery mood as he might charge thinking we're playing and he's just TO BIG for that. I trust the bull more than I do that steer. Not all cattle are afraid of people.
Susan
Oh, yeah, I'm sure that they're not so nice creatures to humans. But you know, I can't even kill a slug or a mole, etc. I'm just critter-crazy, I guess. :-)
Nice pics all, Not been my old self latley after the dog crash, hard to to get into the groove after missing so much.
Welcome Mort.
