Hey, Kathy: I have mastered the tab thingy. Thanks to cool.
Weird Weather of '09!! ....... #4
Thanks, Mary, for adding Steve, Holly, Carol and Carla. I figured I'd probably miss somebody, even if I talk to them or see their posts daily. Sorry, guys.
I'm glad the keyboard shortcuts are working for you. There are so many more, but these are the ones I use the most.
Oh, and Sheri's name is misspelled on the list. Maybe we should start a new thread with names (and alphebetize it and add Portland1=Judi).
That would be cool, if all wanted too. A DG name dictionary, no matter what tread they popped into they would know who is who. Wait a minute, I read this somewhere not sure where. Who is Who in In something can't remember the book, or where I seen it.
What do you think????
My son's dog, 'Bale' has turn in to a bigger monster, all leggs and a boney body. Just hit me in the shin, now I have a big goose egg on my leg.
You mean in DG? There are a number of Who's Who books out there on the market.
I don't know of anything else that lists names of DG members other that the Address Exchange or People's Personal Profiles.
Of course, in some cases you can find them on Facebook.
No, I think it was whos who in government or state can't recall. has nothing to do with DG or FB
Was just a idea to do the same.
Just popped in to say HI so you don't forget us....we are getting down to the line looking for Laura and Sean a new place.....getting closer but no Jackpot Yet...we have a couple of calls in tonight that are promising (right price, close to ME and right schools)....Laura's face is healing up nicely but she still doesn't want to be seen in public right now.
I'm tied up watching the dog show in New York right now. One of our DG friend's (Bettypause) sister's American Eskimo just won best in breed for his category...so we are all excited for them!!
Got mom a new walker today.....wheels, brakes, seat, the whole nine yards....she's like a kid with a new toy.......we have her Orthopedics Appointment tomorrow thank heaven!! I just hope they can do surgery...and soon!!!! Can't keep her off her feet!!
It is cold out right now. Think I may have to have a fire tonight!!
Hope all are doing well...keep warm!!
Hi Tricia! Glad that you checked in! I hope that something falls into place for Laura soon!
That's neat about the American Eskimo. It puts a whole different outlook on those shows when it's an animal that you know.
It was snowing here earlier... probably because I was outside trying to do some yard work. It has subsided for now, although I doubt for long.
Gosh - what did I miss? What's going on with Laura's face? Poor thing, to have to worry about that along with the house search. You're a good mom to help out with that. I hope they find just the right thing soon.
I was thinking today about the fact that we hadn't heard from either of you in awhile.
How exciting about Bettypauze - I didn't realize that she was showing.
Snow and cold tonight. I got home just as the snow (very silty and slick) was starting to accumulate on the road. Brrr is right.

Laura and a girlfriend went out Friday night for a well deserved night without children. A lot of our streets and sidewalks downtown are in not so great shape, in combination with a slight knee problem, and Laura took a spill. Managed to land on the left side of her face and scrape it up pretty good....her eye was all swollen and puffy, looked like she had been in a fight. But, as I said, she is looking much better today.
Hopefully, now that she won't be sitting the two older kids, once we get the House/move situation dealt with we can get her back on line and back to normal.
Awwwhh..... darn. That white #$%^ has been sticking already.
Poor Laura.... and on a night out too. That's just not right. glad that it seems to be getting better quickly.
Gosh - I DID hear about this. I just remember that it hurt her knee. Oh, and her face, too? Thank goodness she didn't get a concussion or knock out some teeth. That seemed to happen to at least one person in my circle a year when I lived in Alaska.
Poor girl needs a break!! Give her my best.
Hope things go well for Laura, a move is enough to deal with, she didn't need that too.
Cold here tonight, been cold all day. It rained some today, not much but we had hail big time. We were in town and it sounded awful in the van! I was going to go to the nursery and changed my mind. Wouldn't be surprised if we get snow. It's 35 now, so it will certainly be cold enough. Forecast says snow down to 500 ft, so that would get us too. And more for tomorrow. Yuk, tomorrow is ladies luncheon day, supposed to go to Walterville, then mom has a dr appt. Just have to wait and see.
Tills...hope your leg is o.k.
Mom used to have an American Eskimo...wonderful dogs. I miss walking her.
Sally, hope you don't get the snow, too. Driving was okay today after the sun had been out and the ice was off the roads.
Have to share my excitement (being the sighthound fan that I am): A Scottish Deerhound won Best in the Hounds Group at Westminster today. First time in 17 years. Deerhounds are awesome dogs.

Also, if you like happy endings, here's a great article on the rehabilitation of Michael Vick's dogs at Best Friends Animals Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah. This place and the work they do there is amazing. Unfortunately, the site is down, but if you love animals and want to hear some happy endings, check out http://www.bestfriends.org when it's back up.

Thanks for the update Kathy, I've been following that story on the animal planet channel.
Oh I hope Laura heals quickly. And finds the perfect place to live.
susan, The pic with the dogs is too cute. They are all so curious!
Congratulations on the first egg of the season. ✸ (gold star)
Snowed here this morning but not sticking. Took the dog for a walk and nearly FMAO (froze my a _ _ off) it is so cold.
Awww these pics of chicks are just too much!
Thank you ladies!
Judi, I know how you feel. It's COLD here too, no snow though. Not yet anyway, it's 28° with a wind chill of about 19°. It's so cold it makes my eyes water so didn't take the boys for a walk today, cause I like to see where I'm going! LOL!
Trisha, I just wish they WERE that cute when they first hatch! LOL!

Susan, yes, I didn't remember any of my feathered friends being that cute when they hatched...but I did love the picture...
Trisha, yah, they aren't very cute when they first come out of the egg. But when they dry off LOOKOUT cause they're going to enter your heartstrings like a Freight Train! LOL! I think that pic is cute too.
Patricia, yah, she is a little cutie isn't she, it seems as though she's always looking at the camera. You have some nice pics! It sure is pretty!

Hi, here in southern part of Oregon it is snșowing like it means business. OOPS! wrong spot for degree!!! :-)
Hey there, mortswife, welcome to the forum!!
I'm in downtown Seattle and having been looking out at snow on and off for the last couple of hours. A colleague just told me she thought the weather system was coming from the south. So it makes sense that you're seeing this first.
How much do you have? I'm not familiar with Lakeview - are you toward the coast or in the Eastern part of the state?
Welcome also Mortswife.
Welcome Morts wife - proceed with caution - this thread can get a little crazy at times but that's why I like it!
Willow your photos are beautiful. At least snow is pretty. I like your courtyard.
Thanks. It is still snowing and we have 8-9".
Great chicks pics Susan! The dogs are soooo cute like that.
Hey Mortswife and glad to have you here! You, Willow, and Susan can help keep myself in check when it comes to complaining about the snow!
Willow... I love your pictures! you should post them over on the "frosty stuff" thread!!!
Hi, all. This is the third time I've started to post and I click wrong and it all goes away. I live in Southern OR at the foot of a mountain so we catch all the snow as it goes by. But I grew up here so I'm used to snow. Last year it was up to the roof of my mobile home at one point.
I also grew up on a farm with lots of baby chicks. I remember the heat lamps and mom painting their little bottoms with tar so they wouldn't peck each other to death-which they can do. I even milked cows the day I got married sooooo many years ago.
I couldn't take it any longer- I just ordered LEAVES from The Selective Gardener. They will go nicely in my new plant shelf. I figured they'd be easier this time of year [and cheaper]. Enjoy the snow-you won't drown in it.............. :-)
Hey ho from south Jersey, Mortswife. I love it here, in the PNW.
I can hardly believe it is 50 now outside at 10:45 pm. Almost time for bed.
Mortswife, welcome.....this is a great group!
Just barely skimming it has been a long day! We finally had mom's Doctors appointment today....had to take new x-rays before he saw us and had to go back to Group Health for EKG afterward but it is all good news.....he says she has the knee joints of a 20 year old which more than I can say for myself! The torn meniscus can be repaired Orthascopically (sp) and he will do that on Thursday!! She will have to stay off of it for 3-4 days, go back on the 27th to have it checked and should be back to normal within six weeks!!! What a relief....I don't know what either of us would have done if the prognosis had been worse....she is not a happy camper when she can't go full tilt and do what she wants when she wants....but it looks like that is still a bit farther down the road.
She was a bundle of nerves all day and it has taken a toll on both of us so I think I will call it a night a bit early tonight.....may even sleep in tomorrow morning.....
Finally stopped snowing....started melting........was low thirties when we came home from spin class earlier......will see what it looks like in the morning. We went through that week plus of deep snow and never saw a snow plow until well into the thaw....we get a few inches today, causing no problem with driving and they actually ran a plow up our street! Figure that one out???
Goodnight everyone, sleep well.
So happy to hear that the snow is melting... The way that it should be. They must be more prepared with the plows now and are trying not to get behind.
Well, I'm glad to hear that all should be well with your mom and her knees. Although, do have her elevate and move around a lot afterwards. I've had a knee and ankle reconstructed and both went great, the orthoscopic surgery on my other knee went pretty poorly. I think that part of the problem was not moving around (nothing strenuous of course) as much as I should've the next day or two afterwards
Trisha so glad to hear your Mom can have the surgery and get back to normal. I had a torn miniscus repaired with arthroscopic surgery and there is very little discomfort and recovery is fast once you are allowed to bear weight. Just follow the doctor's orders! She will be happy she had it done. Keep us posted.
