Good one Tills. LOL
Weird Weather of '09!! ....... #4
Best cover up I could find LOL
Nice pic
Thanks, didn't look that blurry on my camera, probably because they were moving.
Nice pic Sally!!
Weather today....at least 10 deg. colder than they said that it would be. I think it was 40 outside most of the day. But, it wasn't snowing, wasn't icy, so..... it wasn't bad!
I agree wasn't bad. I was working in the kitchen all day, didn't need to put on 'cold weather gear' to go out to the garage. One more cupboard and finish the counter and I'll be done. YEAH!! Only thing is tomorrow I have to water my orchids and take a run out to see our shut in. He called tonight, lonesome again...time to pick him up another sandwich from the deli. Haha
You're almost there Sally!!! Yep, sounds like it's time for a large, time consuming sandwich!! It'll make the day so much brighter.
Corned Beef on a French Roll, a little mayo, a slice of kosher dill pickle...nothing else. The girls at the deli, asked over and over nothing else? He's a man who knows what he wants. Hahaha
i'd say! not only that. He has unique taste.
The girls at the deli, they thought a French Roll was unheard of....supposed to be rye. He lived in Chicago, they make corned beef on French Rolls....so that's what he craves. I haven't found a Kosher deli (he says they have the best cornned beef) but he's happy with the one I did find.
lol..... it's good that he's happy with the one that you found! Kosher deli's are quite hard to find around here!
I'll take it but no mayo, has to spicy mustard!
Sally, whatever kind of sandwich it is, you are a sweetheart for visiting him. I have a big fear of becoming a shut in someday. Aaaggghhhh
Didn't go yet, I talked to him for a long time tonight though. He didn't know we were coming, so he wasn't disappointed. Another friend dropped by unexpectedly so we visited. I feel so bad for him, he has no family and we're the only friends that go to see him. With the dementia it gets a little strange sometimes, but mostly he's fine. Gave me his shopping list, so I'll need to do that first. Hope I never end up like that, I'd be depressed too. Don't think my boys would ever let that happen though.
Strange day today, a little of everything. Great clouds, moving fast. Rained really hard for about 10 min., then disappeared. Some sun, mostly cloudy and a little cool. It's down to 35 now, forecast is for 32.
Poor guy. Your right Sally, your family will be there for you, however you are! Which, won't be like your shut in.
I agree.... that "little of everything" was never as warm as they said it would be.... yesterday or today.
Morning all! Thanks for the compliments on the pics!
Judi, I'm not sure what you're asking about the British farmer for our DD...???
That's sad Sally for the shut in, but at least he knows what he likes to eat!
It's only 26° here today and we're supposed to have snow off and on for the next 3 days. Last Mon when I went for my walk in the afternoon it was 60° and this week I'll be lucky if it reaches 40° when I go for my walk today!
Susan
Woke up to 2" of snow today, school is a late start. Kinda hampers some of the garden chores as the dirt is very stiff today. However, the sun is working hard at being seen between the clouds so it's beautiful. Should melt today.
Where is Carnation located?
Gardener I just thought your beautiful daughter looked so cite in the photo with Czar. I could just imagine her charming one of those farmers. Ooops if she's already taken!
Thank you and yes Judi, she's been taken for 11 yrs and a mom of 3!^_^ That pic was taken 15 yrs ago.

Well I suppose her husband would not appreciate my suggestion - sorry buddy & kids!
That's ok, I won't tell! ^_^
lol...
Wow... LBF, I sure hope that it melts soon and doesn't come my way!! We had a skiff of it last night, but it had all melted by 7 am.
Gardner.... I like how warm you've been getting! Sounds nice!
BEEN getting is right, NOT ANYMORE! UGH! It's a whopping 34° out right now. WOOHOO!!!
Susan
Ok, on one of these threads I think it was Judi asking for a deer repellant for her parents, well I found another one named Hinder. I found it at a new to me online garden site named Kinsman Garden Co. Just go to www.kinsmangarden.com and it tells you all about it. It's less expensive that Liquid Fence too and they have a shipping warehouse right here in OR.
Susan
Susan thanks for the link. I am sending it to my parents.
The sun is out for a few minutes but expecting more rain. :-(
You're welcome! Yah, the sun is out here too but it's COLD!!! I hope that works for your parents.
HInder worked well for me if I remembered to do it regularly. It will bleach out flower and leaves on tender stuff.
I use Plantskydd, I can get it locally and it doesn't smell quite as bad as most of the others. It works well, when I am home to apply it. But, that's my problem with any of them. I'm gone so much during the summer when there's the most stuff here for them to eat.
I just use Bone Meal now. It works well. I just sprinkle it lightly over the tops of everything. Also a good fertilizer. Haven't had any trouble with other animals going after it. Don't breath it.
That's great Patricia. I read that it isn't offensive to humans, so will try it this fall on my Arborvitae. The combo of the Liquid Fence and the dogs seemed to have worked last fall, but we'll see if they return this fall.
Oh gosh Willow.... You're tough!!! I can look at most gross stuff, but I can't deal with that smell.
Hmmm.... maybe i'm not human then? lol

Patricia, does Bone Meal have an odor?
It's not bad Susan.... it's me! compared to all the deer sprays, it's pretty light. That sort of smell has never sat well with me. I think that it's because I grew up in a hunting family and was very used to seeing the carcasses hanging out in the shop. I was too young to really know how to cut up the dead deer, but not too old to have to help clean up after it had been cut up and the reminants had to be cleaned up. By then much of the blood and stuff would start to smell and..... well, I think you all get the point.
Well snow's gone and it's 41, not too bad now. Carnation is NE of Seattle, about 40 minutes or so. I'll do my best to bring back some warm, sunny weather from Florida. Going to visit folks and get my sunshine fix while they get grandkid fix.
Shelly, TOTALLY!
Bone Meal will sometimes attract your dogs and cause them to dig for the same reason it deters deer. The only problem I've had with it is when they dig for it.
Oh Tills that is so cute. That dog has a happy face!
Ladybugg I did a project at the prison in Monroe - is that near Carnation? It was quite an experience since I usually don't hang around prisons. Frightening!
HAVE confused things. Eeek!!
