Tropical Garden # 30

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I keep checking all of the trimmings I am trying to root everyday now. Some do,some don't.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes, it's like that. to enhance your success, using an inexpensive rooting hormone and experiment with a very green, and very woody cutting..next time you'll cut to the chase.

What vine do you want? Black eyed susan vine is great performer.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

The nice thing about my tree was, I had it decorated around the base with vines and flowers I had trained and artistically designed to look like a ribbon winding around the trunk, with english ivey being the first, gosh, I better go look at those pics again.. I love seeing if I can make a stick grow.. any kind.. here is a stick I broke off someones brush, and now four months later.... there are tiny leaves.. ( too bad I have no clue what it is) IT IS THE ONE IN THE ROUND CLAY POT HIDDEN BY THE MEXICAN PETUNIA oopsie capslock.. u can barely see the little leaves forming

Rj. Looking forward to seeing your Australian Fern Tree on Feb.6, 2010.
Did you get any more blooms on the Pink Magnolia?

Joeswife, I am impressed with your 32 year old philo, but I don't have a name for it either. I bet that if you post a picture on the Aroid forum, Lari-Ann will help with a name. I have a corn plant that is almost as old, I had to cut the top off when it was in bloom. The fragrance was overwhelming.
I can't help with the second one either, like Hap. said, keep us posted on their progress.

One of the worst odors I have ever smelled. I had one bloom years ago. yuk!

San Diego, CA(Zone 10b)

Rita,
Is that musa a Siam Ruby? I bought one on ebay and it looks more like yours than on online catalogs. I'm thinking either the color will get more vibrant as the plant grows, or I've been fooled..

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Hey Rita...yes...I just took some photos of the trees this morning and forgot to post them...they have very large blooms on them. I don't see many of that type of magnolia, I see a lighter pink that have smaller and more blooms...
Yes..I'm frantically trying to clean up, rake up...sweep up...! Looking forward to the visit. I have a plant for you to take back to TBL.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

I want to go too......

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Plant party! I told Brian....RUN!

Skunk cabbage?

robcorreia, the picture of the Siam Ruby and the Micky mouse was taken in the GH, deprived of sunshine. They are one year old plants from agristarts. The color will be a lot more vibrant when allowed to get more sun.

Rj, I have seen a few of the lighter pink magnolias around Dallas too. They are pretty, but I like the darker, bigger flowers.
Please do not go to any trouble on our account, remember we are all gardeners and know that a garden is work in progress. TBL would never forgive me if I went without him. Brian does not have to run, I have been practicing self control in the presence of new plants.lol

LouC we are leaving very early on the 28th. I can pick you up.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Is TBL coming then?

Dallas, TX

YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!!! She knows better than to leave me behind ! HA ha. I bet the the plant you have for me is the AE-AE right! But i would bet that is a BIGGER HA HA HA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although better keep it under lock and key! Jerry. My AE-AE
