Rita, thanks for the bromeliad pic, I am really getting into broms now!
Check out this concrete arbor from Rio. There is a huge Solandra maxima growing on it...it was very pretty.

phughes, that flower is Salvia splendens 'Paul', it is an annual, but it did so well last summer that I decided to dig her up and try to save it .

robcorreia, that is one impressive picture. I like pictures that give you a lot to look at. It has humongeous trellis, the massive Solandra trunk on each pillar, the palms in the back and my favorite that tree with the brown fruit. I have been racking my brain trying to ID them, mamey maybe?

sunshinesw, I love it when you show these unusual plants. I will probably spend a couple of hours reading everything that I can find about it. That is quite an unusual bloom. (to me)
It is so hard to pick a favorite hibiscus, I love them all.
Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures. We all appreciate it very much.

My purple is starting to get blooms; not alot but here and there; I think it is way early for it.

Red Oak, TX

phughes, yes, that is a pink firespike. It has been blooming for for some time now. Along with the blue sage, they will make quite a colorful fall display.
I have noticed a few plants putting out new leaves too, I really hope that it is not too soon.

For lack of pictures from my tropicals at hand...here is another one from Brazil. Massive hundred year old Ficus religiosa street trees. This is the street I grew up at and where my parents still live. I LOVE THOSE TREES!!!
Rita this one should give you lots to look at! ; )

We USED to have a lot of those trees here, but with a couple of hurricanes and cold snaps, the big old beauties are about a thing of the past. They were beautiful.

sunshinesw, thanks, your succulant plants are very nice as well.

joeswife, glad to know that your cuttings are doing well. I can not wait to see your garden come spring. The Hellebores are easy to grow if you give them good drainage and shade.
This is the right side of a Tipsy pot I made, that is a lipstick plant, with anthurium

Planter56, How are your Amaryllis coming along? I took a look at my Medinilla and I think that there is a bud there. I will have to wait for a while longer to be certain. (fingers crossed)
The other side of tipsy pot, begonia and string of hearts.

robcorreia, you are right, I love that picture. It must have been great growing up in such a nice place.
Here is my Valentine's gifts, two Nun's Orchids. I have no luck growing them but will try again. Does anyone have any tips?

Hey placenciarita. Well my amaryllis is coming along and growing well so far. The Medinillia is growing quickly actually. I'll have to take another picture of the buds that have dubled in size size since the last picture I took :) If the bud your looking at is round then its a flower :) If it's long and pointy, then it's leaves :) I do hope it's flowers though.

Hey rob? Is that car driving into that tree? :)

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi back to you plac. and good morning to all.

We have 65 degree temp and a heavy fog which I love to death. For some reason, I love to walk in the fog. Where that came from is anyone's guess.

Doing some last pick-up before company (Plant People) come for dinner. This always makes me nervous. They should have come 3 weeks ago before we had our cold snap. So, they will just have the "Before Picture" of what it will look like late spring. LOL

Planter would love to see the updated picture of your medinillia. What cultivar is it? the magnifica???? I am considering buying one when I go to Caldwell's in a couple of weeks.

(Rita: only 16 more days!!!!)

planter56, I took a look today at the Medinilla, and so far they look round, I am so excited!! I am thinking it is because I have it next to the heater. I sure hope that they do not fall off. I will enjoy seeing all six of your branches blooming .

Happy_1, I am sure that your company will enjoy just visiting with you. If they are truly gardeners, they will see the beauty under all the damage caused by the cold snap.

Phughes, go ahead and buy one, you will enjoy having it.

Rj, has been MIA for a couple of weeks now, I hope that he is OK
