She is my sweetheart....and I am amazed at how well she does with chopsticks. She and Bill were practicing picking up one grain of rice at dinner.....
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞ 98
Darn, Kel can't even pick up a slice of bread!!!! Might have to pierce both ends of his chopsticks or bind them together with a spacer in between!
A few more hours and some of you will be greeting the sunrise here!
So.. good morning ladies! Wishing you all a beautiful Saturday.
I haven't watched the weather channel nor paid any attention to the news. So here's hoping none of you are affected by adverse weather conditions.
Wishing Cathy again a Happy 60th Birthday!
There's coffee, hot cocoa and hot cinnie buns on the breakfast bar.
I'm finally getting some zzzzzzzzzzzs...
see you all ladies much later!
I haven't had a chance to read everything yet, but wanted to share this with you all. I'm sure some of you have seen it, but with the recent things that have happened in my life, I wanted to share it with you, because I love you all!
A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day,
drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As
they talked about life, about marriage, about the
responsibilities of life and the obligations of
adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her
glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance
upon her daughter
'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling
the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll
be more important as you get older. No matter how
much you love your husband, no matter how much you
love the children you may have, you are still going
to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them , now
and then do things with them.'
'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women...
your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other
women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women
always do.'
What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman
thought. Haven't I just gotten married?
Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a
married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely
my husband and the family we may start will be all I
need to make my life worthwhile!'
But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact
with her Sisters and made more women friends each
year. As the years tumbled by, one after another,
she gradually came to understand that her Mom really
knew what she was talking about. As time and nature
work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman,
Sisters are the mainstays of her life.
After more than 50 years of living in this world,
here is what I've learned:
THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what the y're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how
many miles are
between you. A girl friend is never farther away
than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you
have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,
praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on
your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the
valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk
beside you...Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,
daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,
Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended
family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women, and
neither would I. When we began this adventure called
womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or
sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we
would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on
to all the women who help make your life meaningful.
I just did. Short and very sweet:
Good Morning ladies...sorry to be MIA yesterday, but by the time we got home from doing all the running and had some yummy lasagna, (thank you so much Dusty!!) I was just beat.
It was a long day at the hospital. As Dusty said they had to do an emergency C-section and then it was lunch time, so they didn't take her in until 12:30. They came and got DS at 12:45 and he was born at 12:56. 8 pounds 1 oz. I don't know how long he was. Billy forgot to come and get us when they got back to the room. He just thought we'd come on back (only 1 at a time) but how were we to know when she got back there?????
When he was born and doing his APGAR (I'm supposing) they were having trouble hearing lung sounds on one side. So off for an x-ray and he does have a small collapse in his lung. So he is in the NeoICU and he'll be fed intravenously until the lung is better. They are hoping it will come up by itself, but if it doesn't, they will have to put in a chest tube. He can't nurse or have a bottle, because he will be using all his energy to breathe. They said he'll probably have to stay in for about a week. :O( Momma is doing fine.
When we left yesterday, they still hadn't decided on a name, but DS said it will probably be Kyle Jacob. They had a hard time agreeing on ANY of them!
I didn't even get to deliver the afghan. :o( Oh well, he won't remember he didn't get it yesterday.
Here is a picture.
How sweet is that? ^_^♥♥♥
Welcome to the world Baby Kyle Jacob!!! ^_^
He is soooo adorable!!!
Keep us posted proud Granma. We'll add him to our prayers... and there's nothing sweeter in the world then arrival of a newborn baby!
"Lord keep and protect Kyle and let him be surrounded with love constantly."
Well.. Kel's off to work.. I think I'm finally getting sleepy.. off to take a nap :D If not I'll get delirious!!!
Oh yah Sistahs and nieces, please welcome Kyle.. and say a special prayer for him ^_^
Morning,
Oh! Joyce such a beautiful baby, he is. Number 9 for you, you lucky lady. I have 2, wanted my daughter to have 1 more but SIL says "NO!!!" :(
opinion girls please here is a link to the mold I think we are going to try for the fudge monkeys that wil replace a grooms cake
https://www.candymoldcentral.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=736
do ya think it will work ok?
am thinking of taking the lil silver or gold balls (candy decor) and use them for the eyes then fill wtih the fudge harden adn pop out.
they are figuring around 60 people a small wedding so what maybe 2-3 per person?
so I'll get enough molds to make about 10-12 at a time...heck no idea here am wingin it LOL
Beautiful grandbaby Cookie!
A banana puddling triffle with the monkeys lining the dish would be cute too. Those molds are ideal Phyllis.
Trish, I love gyoza's. A friend taught me to make them when my DS was about 12. He learned how to make them, too, just like Sage, and now he cooks for a living and makes gyozas at home. He especially makes them when I come. I, on the other hand, never make them for myself. Too much trouble.
Morning everyone. Trip was good yesterday. Dr has officially discahrged me from his office. He says foot is still about 85% healed. It will just take time to get to 100%.
Jayce, loved the statement about the Sisters. That was nice.
Jaye you need lots of rest and hot tea. Please take care. I have to aks what gyoza's are? Never heard of them.
Kathy, have you seen the Dr, yet about the stuff coming from your incision. That does not sound good at all.
Bj, have a great time at the farm today. Let us know how it went.
Cindy, how you doing on the candle business? Don't over do it.
Trisha, and Laura, you all are so busy too. Take care please.
Marion, how you doing on the festivities? Is everything scheduled, and ready to go?
Joyce, Congrats on the new Grandson!
Cathy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
I can't remember everything else I read, so I will quilt for now.
Hello to everyone I missed.
LK
Morning ladies !!! (and gentlemen, if any are lurking)
I'm dressed and ready to go with Mike to the farm. Kristi has decided to not go with us today. She's been slacking on her chores at the house, and decided to go home and get those done to get her parents off her back. Guess spending every weekend with me and Mike are partially to blame for that. But, I have enjoyed her visits sooooo much... suppose I should just go over there and do her chores for her so she can keep coming over on the weekends... huh? NOT.
Cuz... please let us know about that incision... are you ok?
Jaye... feeling better this morning? You sure were up late last night... guess you're sleeping in this morning.
So glad your foot is so much better LK... you'll be dancing among your flowers by spring.
I never heard of a gyoza, but if they're that much trouble, I'll probably never try to make them anyway.
Phyllis, The fudge monkeys sound soooo cute and will be the talk of the whole wedding... who knows, you could start a trend and every wedding will be having them at the reception.
Well, better get my stuff together... gonna take a lot of pictures today for Mike's album... so I better check my batteries.
See ya'll tonight or tomorrow... it's gonna be a very long day.
Welcome to the world, baby Kyle! Joyce, I'll keep him in my prayers and look forward to many more photos of the little guy. Congrats!
Happy Birthday Cathy! Hope you enjoy the stallions and your dinner tonight.
Kathy, that doesn't sound good about your incisions. Hope you get it checked soon.
Good morning everyone! A little tuckered out. Yesterday didn't go as planned. Well, this whole past week has been a little stressful. Worked at the med center yesterday from 8 until 2pm then went out to find my tire flat. DH came from work and changed it but the spare was flat too! Sent for a tow truck but he couldn't get onto the parking deck so he sent for someone to come air up the spare enough for me to drive myself to the dealership. All this was taking place while I was supposed to be meeting DD at the bridal shop to try on and pick up our dresses after having them altered. Guess we will do that next week.
Also, my dining room table exploded. Yep, exploded! One day last week heard this loud sound like a gunshot from the kitchen/diningroom area. Couldn't find anything that had fallen or hit the window or any other reason for the sound. Finally decided it was the cedar beams in the living room. They are huge and after the heat has been running for several weeks they dry out and split creating a gunshot type sound. Later that day, while sitting down to sew at the dining room table, I discovered it wasn't the beams that has split but the dining room table. I mean it split from one end to the other! You can see the floor through the crack! The only thing holding it together is the supports underneath. Big sigh ..... my decorating money was reallocated to paying for DD's wedding but looks like we may have to find a way to buy a table. Will get out this afternoon and start looking. Hey, wait a minute ...... how can I go furniture shopping if I don't have a car??? It's still in the shop. Grrrr....
Good Morning everyone!!!!!
Jaye that was fine.I enjoy them too.Hope you are feeling better today.
Joyce,that is a beauitful grandson.
Kel drag me off the bed!!!! I only have 3 hours' sleep!!
He says time for our Saturday shopping!!! Am I resisting??? Nooo! Lolol!!! Actually, this will be a test to whether my tummy has recovered totally!
Hi Phyllis, Deborah, Cindy, LK, Debra, Janice, BJ, Cody!!!
OK..... catch you laters sistahs!!
Debra, what kind of wood is the dinning table? What caused it to crack? AW I know lol, too much quilting fabric, LOL JK. That is strange.
Hey there Jaye girl, you take it easy now you don't want to have a relaspe. You know how the second time around is worse.
Happy Birthday Cathy. Oh do enjoy your day. The Stallions are a fantastic show to see--the ranch where they are raised and live is not far from my Mom's house. Can actually have tours of the facilities. Do, do enjoy! I personally love to watch them.
Prayers for the newest member of the Thomas family. How are Grandma and Grandpa doing?
Jaye, don't overdo it now--shopping or not shopping.
BJ waiting to see pictures--have fun.
Good news Linda Kay.
Kathy check in with a report please.
Yikes Debra, what a shock that must have been. I have to keep my teak table oiled so it doesn't get dried out and crack. Worth the effort though.
Susan and Flamingo Kim what are you doing to get into trouble? I feel like a "heel" with things happening like they did. I had NOT planned to have to met with everyone but problems have come up and alas I will have to make the trip to Gainesville. I do need that calender to keep my life straight now. It is the 31st today isn't it not the 24? Darn what did I do with the lost week?
Waving to all I missed. Chat later. DD is down with a fever and a cold, I think, or maybe sinus infection but need to make some soup for her today. Plus stay away as I do not have time not to get sick. Going to eat some oranges.
JAye-I hope that you are feeling better and up to a shopping day-I need to come visit you just so Uncle Kel can take me out on a Sat!!LOL How wonderful though that he enjoys it as much if not more than you do. Did you see my note in the B & W quilt block thread??
JOYCE-CONGRATS!!!!! What a cutie!!! If he has any of the strength of his grams he will be fine in no time!!
OK-A Gyoza lesson-the ones that we make are AWESOME-but I like them a little different. They are sausage, ground beef, katsup, mustard and onions. You mix that together w/ S & P, and then you put them in wonton wrappers, wet 3 of the sides and fold them over and seal. THey then are pan fried and then steamed. Mom is right, the pan frying leaves a greasy mess, but they are SOOOO worth it!! I prefer mine to go in the oven instead of the steamer pot, as I have an affinity for crunchy things and I prefer not to have sausage in mine, but you could even switch out the meat for chicken I am thinking.....
HAPPY BDAY CATHY!!!!!
I just got up about 12:30, I fell asleep about 7, and woke up when DH came home about 2, was up for about an hour, then went back to sleep til now-oh my, do I feel like I actually got some sleep....today will be my lazy day and tomorrow will be my busy day....
LK-soooo glad that you are good to go-woo hoo-dancing anyone??
My sweet, sweet Georgia Peach-can you please come here after you are done?? I would really appreciate that-my house needs a good scrub too!!

LK
OO Cindy-can't wait to see it in person!!!
Yes-I think my mind just needed that long to shut down and recuperate..
Welcome for the recipe/instructions-BTW-if you do add sausage, DH usually does a 2-1 ratio w/ the beef and saus-2 parts beef to 1 part saus

Happy Birthday Cathy!!!!! Have a Great Day!!!
Jaye sure hope you have gotten some rest dear sistah….got to get you well and keep you well.
Joyce, LOVE the Sister poem!
What a precious grandson!!! Will keep him in our Special Prayers!
Phyllis, that one will be great! That is the one we made my SIL for Christmas.
Deborah, that sounds really good!!!
Janice I agree, a friend in Taiwan taught me to make Sweijau, the Chinese Boiled version…..I could make myself sick on Potstickers, or the Fried Gyoza but I buy mine ready made…..they are a lot of work to do correctly. Now I do make my own MaPo Dofu (Tofu)…..and I can eat myself sick on that also!
LK will be glad to get you back to 100%…glad to hear you are progressing well!
BJ that is the great thing about the frozen pot stickers you can get at Costco or Safeway….you can do a little water, let them cook down and get browned on the bottom for pot stickers, toss them in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes drain and serve with dipping sauce for the Chinese boiled dumplings ( my favorite), or deep fry in oil for gyoza……don’t have all the mixing ,chopping and wrapping of making them from scratch!
Hi Cody! How is everything going today?
Debra, never heard of a table splitting like that before! On the bright side, at least it didn’t happen in the middle of a big dinner!!!
Marion hope your daughter feels better soon……please don’t catch it yourself!!
You needed a good rest Stacey!
Cindy that is soooo cute! I have been peeking in on the styro projects, what are you going to make???
Have a slice of Ruby's Applesauce Cake.....OMG is it goooood!!!!!
Joyce, what a cute baby! I'm sure he'll pop right out of it and be fine! You just love him!! Happy birthday Cathy!
I'm not telling until it is made. I don't know if my idea is going to work....^_^
Well, good luck, we will be watching for it!
Hi All,

Cindy I may have some beads but am not 100% I still have them but if I do I will send you them as I am no longer using them....
Happy Birthday Cathy.... May you have many more... ^_^ Just got done cooking dinner and it was ok .. son got the wrong bread crumbs so I had to doctor them but it could have used more....

Susan

Hey Linda better watch out your bird bath just left my house and is heading to tool to night when they get done at the farm......hahahaha

Happy Birthday Cathy! Hope you had a great day, sorry I missed it.
Well busy at work Friday, went to dinner last night then Dave went to work :( He has to work tonight too, even though there's no one else there and he had one call last night in a 8 hour period, and Friday and Saturday nights are his scheduled nights off.
What a cute Baby! Congratulations!
I'm having some sort of stomach problem myself. This started Thursday, I thought it was something I ate but apparently not, or maybe it was. I eat, get abdominal pains, poo, and I'm fine until I eat again, except for some milder abdominal pain. I don't have fever, body aches, none of the flu symptoms. It seems to be getting better, it just started with the runs on Thursday and now I'm having more pains than poo. I don't know. I'm wondering if it's that stomach virus going around that has to run its course, which is 7 to 10 days!
Oh someone is shooting a shotgun real close by, sounds like some idiots down the hill behind the house, going to go investigate with Dave.
Thanks KIMMIE,but i'm all better now.You just have a blast where ever you are or go.
Hey Trisha,i was just chilling today and doing laundry.Besides chasing one of my rabbits all over the sheds.
