Sometimes it's fun to look at the friendships we've made just through talking about gardening with total strangers. So many neighbors are so busy traveling or playing card games or one who watches old Westerns on TV each day that, once they see we're gardeners, will not only first ask how the garden is but actually try to grow some plants.
My DH, Jack, grows many plants from seeds but his tomatoes are his big joy. He shares them with my daughter, the guys who service our cars as well as neighbors. One neighbor told Jack, after growing two tomato plants one summer, that he just can't keep up with them any longer. We both got a good laugh out of that.
Back on the first garden tour I met my dear friend, Lynn, and through so much hard work she created her own beautiful gardens, which I prefer to my own.
Let's hear stories of how you made a gardening friend even if they don't garden.
Here's a current photo of the tomato portion of the vegetable garden in winter:
Friends we've made by garden chatter
That is one fantastic picture of the snow drapped cages and the "babe" with high fashion in front.Teehee
the drip from her chin is kinda cute too.
As though she's shedding a tear over not being surrounded by tomatoes.
You could even have a change of hats to suit the weather - rain hat, sun hat, etc.
he he he might have to hit a garage sale
Or a thrift shop. That's where I get my knives to divide plants and they sell vases for 50 cents to a dollar so when I give a bouquet the person can keep the vase. I also buy the clothes for the scarecrow at thrift shops.
he heh
We get vases from our mortitian friend. We return the huge ones and keep the small ones.
Great idea though I'll check my local thrift.
Might be a regular customer if the economy gets any worse.
I'm working on "pollys blue"
Its a small one.Film at 11:00 lol
We'll look forward to it.
She'll be thrilled with it.
Thanks.I only work for applause.
As soon as I stand up I'll give you a standing ovation.
Wow! That came out so nice. Can't wait for Polly to see it.
Gorgeous!! Do you paint other blooms, like roses, daylilies? :-)
Never mind, answered my own question, found some of your WC on the Artisans forum, nice!
Those look like cymbidiums!
Yes they are and our cymbideums are blooming now, really cheery in this long endless winter.
Lovely, JoAnn! I'm very flattered you could take my picture and make such a beautiful painting from it. The other two paintings are very lovely also.
One of my cyms is also in bloom. Do you have paintings of any other orchids and/or a place where I can view them? I enjoy growing them as a hobby.
Lynn - Jo Ann gave a link once so maybe she can give it to us here.
Thanks, I must have missed it.
I'll look for it. Probably when I find it Jo Ann will show up with the link.
Lovely work, Jo Ann.
Send us a link to the Artisans thread where you put your photos or feel free to post them here. We could all use some beauty in our lives.
You are very talented! The peonies and parasols is so wonderful.
