MIXED SEED NUTS COOK BOOK CHAT

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Jim , I know sometimes if there is a copywrite on them they won't go no matter what you do. I have tried and I can't get them anywhere except out in that big black hole in cyber space.

Cumberland Mtns, TN(Zone 6b)

Jim....i'll show my ignorance because I dont understand why she can't open them either, but if all fails, can't you send them from the yahoo address you had for Audrey's daughter?

our weather got up to 60 something yesterday...but the cold weather will be back. the sky is dark like rain clouds but its just been misting.

Tubby, those were way cute! and true.

Trisha, knee surgery seems to be running rampid right now...3 people i know just had it. one had double done at the same time. then one of his knees got a staph infection and had to have it done again.! i cant imagine having to go thru that. Good luck with your mom. I hope she has a speedy recovery

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh Jim, we took the stuffed pepper recipe and instead of stuffing the peppers (which can be very pricey here at times, we cut them in chunks and added them to the stuffing, topped with crumbled bacon and cheese.....worked out fantastically!!! We have a group of ladies coming to lunch on Tuesday....one is bringing lasagne for a main dish (she makes the greasy American style)....but a few of our gals can't eat anything with tomato.....this is going to work great!! Mom says you remind her of her Jim ( my dad) because he was an excellent cook!

I don't know what to say about the pictures.....all of the pictures that have been posted on the Cedric and Bailey thread......I just click to enlarge.....right click, click save as and save them into my picture file.....no sigh of the copyright notice on them ???

Mom is doing great.....she is working on card stuff and I'm doing my clay....they have her on antibiotics, anti nausea pill, and two different pain meds.....we are starting to go more to the IBP and longer times on the Perc. It is looking good!!!

Cumberland Mtns, TN(Zone 6b)

Trisha, when its time for her physical therapy, will someone come to the house or will you have to take her. Thats as often as 3 times a week in some cases. How old is she?

I want the stuffed pepper recipe! where did Jim post that at first? the main Seed Swaps thread? our peppers are 50cents each now..if i was smart, i'd make a bunch of stuffed ones and freeze them.

Since we're doing an herb swap, should we or can we add an herb section? I sent Lorraine a Basil Butter recipe and pesto recipe. it would be nice to have more.

poor Lorraine. my sister is battling the flue right now right after a bout with bronchitis. it seems like its been months since she's been well. i'm taking vitamin C in huge amounts.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

NO physical therapy, she is already back on her feet and walking with out the walker...she can start driving either tomorrow assuming she isn't taking any of the pain meds......she is 80....

An Herb section would be fun....

Lorraine......my aunt and I just made a batch of the 'recipe' cough syrup. that would cure you.

remember the two sisters when The Waltons was on tv? they were always making or drinking it.

Feel better

Sleep, Lorraine!
Just sleep.
I don't do TV (don't even own one), but remember that it was an excellent mindless companion when I was ill.
The 250 random access CD player does that for me now.
Low, easy sound.
Subdued light
And sleep.

HAH! All I do when I see everyone out working is want to get the shotgun out. How dare they be out having a good time when I'm stinkin sick.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Tubby those stories are way cute!

Lorraine I have it too, caught it yesterday when I was out shopping, my throat started hurting and all went downhill from there. I don't have a fever this morning like I did when I went to bed last night, so that's good, but my chest is all congested, I have body aches all over, and my throat feels like there's a porcupine stuck in it.

Look at all those recipes! YUM!!

Where has everyone gone? no one's cooking out of respect to Lorraine?

this one is for Jim =)

Combine julienned par-boiled celeriac and sauteed leeks in a gratin dish. Smother with a nutmeg-laced cheese sauce and top with a combination of Panko crumbs and grated Parmesan, drizzled with butter. Heat at 350 degrees until golden and bubbly.

(You could add ribbons of sliced ham for a meatier dish)

from Kitchengardenseeds.com yummo.....sounds good to me.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What are panko crumbs?

LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

They are a fine Japanese Bread Crumb.....should be able to get them in the Asian section at the supermarket....

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

well what is celeriac?

Morgantown, WV(Zone 6a)

Celeriac: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celeriac

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Thanks Pam.

Mmmmm! Sounds good!

"Panko" must be made from only the white part of the bread (no crusts).
Bottom line, make your own!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi Jim....sure has been quiet around here lately.
