Love that Tree Bark Feeder Nanny!! LOL!!

I got this feeder with the tray on the bottom after seeing all the thistle seed below the feeders in the snow. I hope this helps...the birds seem to love it and it was cheap and looks easy to clean! The color really brings out the green in the Goldfinches!

Rose, may I ask where you found that thistle seed feeder? It's distressing to see the amount of seed on the ground under the four feeder socks we have.
Thanks!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Barb...I got it at our local farm supply store. It is made my Birdscapes and the cost was $12.99. Thought it was cheap enuf to try it out and see if it works. So far the birds are eating from the tray area as well as from the perches. I am like you...getting tired of all the seed that goes to waste!.

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Rose. We'll run by Tractor Supply in town and see if they have one. It's gotten to the point that we have as many or more Goldfinches and Pine Siskins feeding on the ground as there are hanging on the feeders. But at least they're eating the seed and it isn't going to waste.
Thanks again.

Bumpity Bump Bump ^_^

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

ouch.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

My husband made this for me last week. So far I am calling it my new squirrel feeder. No birds yet. We have it on the side of the house so my rambunctious Great Dane won't chew it and eat the suet. I can't figure out why no birds though...A couple of people said to not fill my back yard feeder for a while so they can find this one. Is that a good idea? Then will they not go back to the yard feeders?

WOW...could he make me one to use for my oriole buffet table?? LOL
I wish my DH was a handy type of guy...

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Sure!! What do you think shipping would be to Putnam!!

Marlton, NJ

Birds are frightened of new feeders at first. Just give it some time and they will come.

He did a great job!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

Thanks Pelle!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Too Much I'm Sure !! LOL

Tell him he did good!

Yonkers, NY(Zone 5b)

I made a short (27 sec) video of the birds at my feeders.
You can see it here:

No sound 'cuz I was inside taking it through the window.

Hi gabagoo, Great video. So many birds and a huge number of Doves. :-)

Huntsville, AL(Zone 7a)

Nice video, gabagoo. You have a whole flock of 'em, don't you! I enjoyed seeing your gardens, too.

Great video!

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

OH my so many birds! Cute video!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Picked up this feeder today to use this summer for the Buntings!!

The Mini Squirrel Buster is not working out to well for me...I may return it. It is too small for my high traffic...they empty it in no time at all.

I like that one Nanny...I think I saw one at Tractor Supply and wish I would have gotten it as I had a 10% off coupon. I know last year the Bunting's loved eating from the old one that I have.

I did get this enclosed suet feeder. I took all of the other ones down because the Starlings were devouring them all. Now that they can't get to the suet they don't hang around like they were.

This Downy found the cage as soon as I put it out.

I also HAD to try one of these thistle feeders (thanks Mrs. Ed) and this little Goldfinch jumped right on it!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well that's good, because I've only had ONE Housefinch on mine.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I may do the caged suet feeder come spring....otherwise as soon as the starlings and cowbirds start in the suet is coming down!!

It took awhile for mine to get used to that feeder when I got it Mrs. Ed.

I hope the buntings like it!! What seed did you use in yours for the buntings?

Marlton, NJ

I hope it works for you Rose. My Starlings were able to eat half the suet out of mine.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Mrs. Ed...have the Goldfinches not used yours?

Nanny...The Cowbirds have left but the Grackles have shown up! LOL! When I think it is time for the Buntings to show up I will start putting Finch food in the caged feeder..they really liked it last year. I get the stuff at Wally World and the Goldfinches love it too. I've bought other brands but they like the WW stuff the best.

Pelle...Right after I put the new caged suet feeder out look who lined up on the barn roof!! Cracks me up...I'll watch tomorrow to see what they do! LOL!! Birds are so funny!

Thumbnail by dellrose
Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Oh...yes it is time for the grackles to start coming back too...forgot about them! UGH!!!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Not that I have seen, Rose. Their favorite remains the sock. Then the upside-down feeder. then the platforms! LOL.

Maybe If I took the other thistle feeders down, they would be forced to use this one.

and by the way, NO REDPOLLS!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

I took down the cheapo socks...for some reason the holes seem too big. They were emptying them out so fast and then I looked on the ground and half the seed was there. I think the socks I bought this year are a looser weave if that makes sense.

OMG...thanks for reminding me about the Redpolls...I must get my pics ready and post some!!
