I will collect some seed and bring them to the RU. The seeds are beatiful in the winter.
AHEM! Larry
North CENTRAL TX RU **April 5th ** in ARLINGTON (TRADES #1)
O.K. Larry, you are a lucky guy, sorry but how could I know? That is why I always sign my real name, that way no confusion.
Josephine.
I am the bearded lady over on the newbie seeds. LOL. Lorraine called me a lady also. I have just collected a coffee can full of Eve's seeds with the outsides still on. My hands aren't up to all the movements it takes to get outside off. It is not that hard I am just lazy. I will bring these to the RU. Larry
Excellent, I am sure many people will excited to get them.
Josephine.
Thanks Patrob!
Has anyone had any success rooting possumhaw holly and red bud? I have female posumhaws that produce a lot of red berries. I also have red buds. I have tried to root cuttings of both without success. I can bring cuttings of both to the RU if anyone wants them. Larry
I am now in the process of trying to root possumhaw, I will let you know if it woks out.
Josephine.
Possumhaw is on my 'Most Wanted' list! If you get them to root, Josephine, you must share your method at the RU. :) Larry, I would love a cutting if I can figure out how to root it. Stacey
Very good, I will do my best.
I will try to root the possumhaw again. I was going to but the thought was lost along the way somewhere. The robins go crazy for the berrys.
I have a neighbor that has one so I may need to visit her and take my clippers!
Since this is my first year gardening, I don't really have anything to trade yet, but I thought I would pop in and say hello!
About the only thing lovely growing in our yard (so far!) is a gardenia. I'd be happy to bring a cutting if anyone wants one, if they wouldn't mind giving my a little hand-holding through the "cutting" process, since I've never tried it. I'm doing a lot of Winter Sowing, but I'm not sure what I'll have extras of, or if I'll have extras at all. Maybe next year I'll actually know what to expect!
WildcatThicket - I see that you have New Dawn climbing rose. Now, you hold on to that in case you can get a really good trade for it. But if we get closer to the RU and you don't have any takers, you let me know.
You all have a great day and I'll be looking forward to meeting you.
GreenerBeaner
I have read (somewhere ?) that they are slow growers. But they are a great xeriscape/native plant and the berries are so beautiful in the winter and a valuable food source for the birdies. I have been wanting Possumhaw for about 7-8 years. I remember hunting for them in some nurseries and the guys had no idea what 'Possumhaw holly' was.
Greenerbeaner, you can trade for potting soil, compost, perlite or pots, a lot of us do a lot of potting and are always in need of pots and soil.
Josephine.
Also fairly fresh coffee grounds. The next best thing to earthworms.
Very nice Larry.
GreenB I have a New Dawn for you.
WildcatThicket, you are a sweetheart. I'll have to get some pretty things in the ground here so I can bring you something next year.
Now, coffee grounds I have! There is a drive through Starbucks on my way home, and when there's no line at the drive through, I stop by and pick up a bag of their fanciest grounds. I'll stop by the week of the RU and separate the grounds into gallon baggies and bring them along. Thanks for the ideas for things to trade! How many camellias do you think my DH would go for?
-GB
O.K. Guys, I finally posted my list, please check it out and stake your claim and don't be shy about it. I may add a few more things later on.

Josephine.
I wish you were having the RU after April 15th!
Lynn
Most of the plants I listed ,I have plenty of, so don't be shy about asking if others have already.
Irwells50....Yes, we had a lot of conflicting dates with other area events in the area, but the main reason was our pavillion, since Easter was the next weekend it was booked.
We are going to see a lot of people though it seems. We have about 30 already signed up, and still have a month to go.
There is a East Tx event planned in another two months, so if you can't make this one try for that one. We also have one in Arlington in the fall, usually October.
Ted, would you mind saving me one of your little crown of thorns? I have been looking for one for years. I didn't notice any "wants" on your list--is there anything I might have that you'd like?
Something I do not have to overwinter inside. LOL
Okay--let me see if I can get my phygelius to root. I don't know if it will, but I'll give it a shot. It's both hardy and evergreen.

I see so many things I'd like, but have so little to trade. Can't wait till I have a full garden and can take cuttings and plant seeds to have plants to trade. Such is the life of a gardening sorta-newbie. LOL
Well this thread is at 150 on the post count so I have put in a
