Me too! I almost bought a rose today.
Spring East Texas Round Up
hey Linda.. are you coming to the RU?? sure will be good to see you!!
hey Tabitha.. looking forward to seeing you and Gemma as well.. what kind of rose.. the Belindas Dream??
Becky, I was going to ask that same question.
LOL Jeanne.. like minds..huh??
I guess so. :)
I just found it Becky on page five under roses in the plant files. It is a pretty pink that is black spot, mildew and rust resistant.
Smockette, I would love a cutting if it's not too much trouble.
Wow Jeanne.. that's a nice rose, and love that it's one that doesn't require a lot of care
Did you read the reviews? I love roses that require little care. I have some from Jackson and Perkins like that.
No, I didn't go that far, I took your word for it. I'm not really a rose person cept the old heirloom that was my GMommas... but that might be why.... I hated all the upkeep they required.. maybe i need to rethink my thinking.. lol
yeah you should rethink it Beck as there are also the knock pout roses that are very easy to grow too
I have a Georgetown Tea rose that is incredible. It is no-care required and blooms its heart out. Only thing, it has tried to eat the greenhouse. I have chainsawed it back on one side to about 1/4 of what it was and still have the other side to go. If anybody wants cuttings, just let me know. It really is a great rose if you don't let it get ahead of you. Srsly :>)
Phyllis.. I forgot.. I did get 3 of the knock outs last year... but they don't have the real pretty bloom like a tea
Patricia.. a tea.. that big???? Man..lol... what color?? hmmmm... I really .... really don't need another addiction..lol
OH MY Patricia.. she is gorgeous.. does she bloom more than 1x a year? IF so.. ok.. yeah I want a cutting..lol
Becky, that rose blooms over and over again all year from early spring to early winter. I'll stick some cuttings now and see what happens. I have rooted roses, but I am not a pro. I'll bring fresh cuttings to the RU as well.
Pat I want a cutting ... but I know nothing about rooting. Its a pretty pink ... I will try to root it mattie wants roses on her .side. My fav is that Golden Showers.
OH MY.. then I'll love it TY Patricia.. see if there's something else you want from me
BTW.. I dug up an old climbing rose.. came from at least a 50 yr old bush... I think it might be 7 sisters. I got the roots, if anyone want some, I'll pot them up.. I just left them in water for now
I'll be happy to give you cuttings, Sylvia. I'm going to stick some right away, so perhaps I'll have a rooted one for you by the time of the April RU's. Save me one of your giant EE's, please.
Well Patricia, since I am the one that started the rose thing, I just gotta have one of your beauties please.
Smockette, it is definetly me who is looking for Belinda's dream. It is such a hardy rose, but Charlie accidentally covered it's root area with black plastic and it couldn't breath. So it suffocated.
Here is a link for rose rooting that sounds like it is what I am going to give a try for my new cuttings.

I would like some of the OGR (Old Garden Roses). These old timers are tough and do not need the weekly spray for disease. Most root easily and are the kind from the group called Texas Rose Russlers. I for sure want a start of Belinda's Dream.
I have the Peggy Martin rose. This one survived the hurricane Katrina and 25' of flood water. It makes a large bush and blooms pink.
Pat- I'll take a Georgetown Tea and would like a yellow if someone has it.
DD
Have these for cuttings/rooted babies:
Old Blush
7 Sisters
The Fairy-mini
Pink Climber-?
Charlene and David, I'll add for you Georgetown Tea cuttings. I'm going to try to them rooted for the May swaps, but it'll have to be cuttings for April.
David, I'd love to have Old Blush and your pink climber, cuttings or rooted.
I'm going to list what I've promised everybody over on the trade threads. There's no way I'm going to keep up with three RU's if I don't get a bit better organized!
David, may I have cuttings of your roses? I don't want the seven sisters though. She is pretty when she blooms, but it is for such a short length of time. I really love the fairy mini. I am going to take cuttings of my roses that I have and will share what is rooted in the fall. I don't remember which one is which. In the fall I will have them marked. I mostly have only the old garden roses. I have a beautiful yellow that blooms all season. I just don't remember which bush it is. I will mark the cuttings as the bush that I took the cutting from blooms. By fall they will be rooted if my method works. If not, I will bring cuttings then.
Charlene
I will start rooting some of the roses and see what happens. If it will warm up and stay warm I will have better success. My Gh is so full I can not get in and I am skinny.
DD
I too will fix my list of have's and want's when it is closer to RU time.
DD
Happy Birthday Phyllis!
:~)
Yeah Dddude.. I hear you.. I am FULL, and where i'm not skinny..lol.. I do have trouble getting around in there
I've wanted a Belinda's dream rose since this summer when a cutting someone gave me never rooted. I don't have time for a plant that always needs spraying, but I do love those big tea shaped roses!
Tabitha
blkraven2,
Im glad you asked about other things to trade Im just starting out in the garden/plant world ..not much here to trade ...
But im close to Jacksonville and was thinking I might try to make it over to the RU.
Cheryl
Pat ... I got you down.
Thanks, Sylvia!
Do come Cheryl, you'll have fun and there are always extra plants to share.
Cheryl, at my first Round up I had really nothing to trade, and I came home with 4 boxes of plants that no one else wanted. Don't be afraid to come even if you don't have plants to trade. You won't find a more kind and generous group of people anywhere! The potluck lunch is also very tasty!
Tabitha
Thanks everyone for the kind invite.
Madrid,
"The potluck lunch is also very tasty!"
So there is also a potluck lunch .. Now that I can handle.

You had told me about the last RU but it was the weekend of the Jewett I believe. We have a booth their.Or I was getting ready to go to WI and care for my Dad.
Cheryl
Chery, what kind of things do you sell in your booth? You are my neighbor. You probably go right by my house on your way to Jewitt. I live on 831. I am on your right when you head to Jewitt. I have a mobile home with a funny looking cover over my well out front and a very large greenhouse out back.
Neighbors::::::::::
Is there anyone around who knows the good wholesale nurseries around Tyler? I want to make a trip, but I would love to have a knowledgable shopping buddy or two or three.
I would like to go sometimes next week. Becky needs me to pick her up some pots so I will be going to Kenny wholesale for that.
Anyone with knowledge or between here and Tyler that wants to go, LMK. I have to pass right through Palestine so I know Darkmoondreamer, denimangle,Dde, Maggie and TXgrower will be nearby as well as a few others, I may pass on my way to Tyler.
Charlene
