Welcome 2009 Gift.
Your gift to your assigned sistah/niece should be in the mail by now. But... like Marion would say.. you can't hurry perfection. So, if you think you're gonna be late sending it out, dmail me, and I'll inform your sistah/niece.

PRAISE THE LORD
Amen! Amen! Amen!!! Yep... I'm doing the stir the pot dance too Debra.. and crying too!!! Tears of happiness that Sis Kathy is okay!!!

Got back to make sure the fur babies are okay with all that snow. That's me up there... can you see we're not prepared for snow??

Well, optometrist is next.. so leaving again. So far, doctor says my heart checks out A-okay :D Sistah BJ... I got my name!! Thank you!!!
Donna, thank you so much for being a wonderful hostess.. we sure need the hot cocoa now. :D

Will be back in a few.. love y'all!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Doing the happy dance for you, too, Jaye!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

AW Jaye, I wished that was me standing in the snow. Boy we could sure use some more up in our mountains. We may be heading for a drought this year. Our favorite fishing lake is down 52 feet. Usually this time of the year it is overflowind.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Love the Picture and I still Love Snow.......just the melting and ice and slush I don't like!!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone. Bj, glad to see you posting. But if you have the day free, and Don is home, you should be spending quiet time with him?
Audrey, I meant that if you comsume a lot of salty products, it can make all of you swell up. You said your legs were swollen? Salt makes you retain fluids! It has been more than a month since your meds have been refilled. You need to be carefull doing that.
Sounds like a lot of us are busy going to the Dr, and dentist... Guess we are all starting out the new year with good health!

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Such a cute pic of you in the hoodie and sunglasses....
Have fun with the FQ... you got a great buddy.

Does anybody here know if European DVD players are the same as they are here in the US?... Don thinks that our dvds won't work on their equipment... I am wanting to start putting together a package of gifts for Mike's family for him to take home, and some DVD's of Movies they can't get in Austria might be an option... but Don doesn't think they'll work... HELP!!!

I'm so doing happy dances here for all the good news... Jaye, Cuz... you go girls...

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I have a co-worker who is from England. He's on the phone right now, but I'm pretty sure he said they don't work here, so here probably won't work there!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Ahhh... I just hate it when Don is right so much... DARN.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yep, Don is right on this one. They have different codes for different regions!
What kind of gifts you looking at, maybe we can all pitch in and help ya???

LK

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Afternoon still doing the happ ydance here as well..

I have been running aroudn the house cleaning and then my 1 oclock haircut appointment turned into meeting hs fiance and her father... And an extra haircut along with a landscaping job in the next two weeks.. So overall a good day on the homefront.. Im about to find a coat and go after Tristen on foot today since Max has the truck at work... Cold out there but not nearly as cold as your picture makes me Jaye!

BJ as above stated Im sorry to say they wont work and vice versa.. I bought a set of dvds off ebay a long time ago that were the wrong region and they wouldnt work in our player.. Made me soo mad... LOL Do let us know what your thinking of including okay. I may have something to send...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hey BJ, you should get together with 4004 (Mary) she has a teenage boy from Germany!! You two could compare notes!!

Rossville, IN(Zone 5b)

Man, does the rooms move. Anyway, I posted to the older thread.

Yes, a nice weekend trip to OHIO. That would be awesome.

Lisa

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I'm just thinking to send them things that the whole family can enjoy, that are TYPICAL USA... like I'm thinking during spring break I'll take him on a road trip to Austin to tour our state capital, then San Antonio to visit the Alamo, and maybe over to Brennam to tour the Blue Bell Ice Cream plant... but then I started running out of ideas... I thought we could pick up things along the trip to send back with him... I'm also going to put together a picture album of his trip to send home with him... it's going to be a surprise, and he won't get it till he leaves. Guess I better learn something about scrap booking pretty quick.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Bj, that sounds like a lot of fun. Don't forget, if you travel 3 more hours west, you can hit the Mexico border. Just make sure you all have at least 2 forms of ID. Like a drivers license, and birth certificate, if you don't have a passport.

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Jaye, I love that picture!!!! It is now 41 here and 19 coming for tonight. Nope not worried--just add another comforter to the bed!!!

BJ that is such a wonderful idea you have about sending Michael home with a scrabook!! But you always so have fantastic ideas!! Yeap, that's our BJ. Thanks for my buddy's name. Wahoo! Let the fun begin!!

Still doing the happy dance but now doing more for Jaye's first report. Cupboards are really be organized if all this good news keeps coming on such a wonderful, historical day!!

Lisa, if you go see Joyce make sure you take loads of pictures. Why don't some of you gals move down here?

Deborah, where are you dear? Missing you!!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Hi All,
Kathy I am so happy for you... You have made my day.... I am doing the HAPPY DANCE for you girl....YEAHHHH
Well today we had our BIG snow storm LOLOL we got maybe 1/4 inch and all schools are closed and everyone canceled at work so I got to stay home...YEAH I will say it is not the snow but the ice why they call school... We just hit 30 degrees so it will all ice over again for the morning.... I am not afraid to drive on the main road but it is getting to the main road and the people who don't know how to drive that scares me...
Jaye, I am getting better but is hard when you have a big family and one catches it and by the time it gets to the last person it starts all over again.... Now I still have sinus and I lose my voice when talking .... Trust me that is little compared to what I had...Thank God...
Kevin is home today and we just took a walk in the woods... Was nice... Now he is going to sub way and I am not cooking... yeah again....
Kim, less then two weeks... yeahhhhhh.
Hugs,
Susan

Rossville, IN(Zone 5b)

Ah, Florida, to bet those winter blues. Maybe when we get to retirement age, I can talk hubby into going for the winters. Right now we have to work. Ughhhhh!!!

Yes, I will go see the ladies in OH this summer and take loads of pics. Of course, I need the invite for sure.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It's still snowing here. Supposed to freeze tonight! Maid M. Blessed are the quilters, cause they won't be lacking of quilts!!! Lol.

Typical USA?.... BJ, it will be the cookies, candy and chewing gum!! Serious. Those are what my family always ask me to send, though they have better choccies and cheese! Now when it comes to adults, it's Western clothes or anything Western!! Goooo Cowboy!!! My sister and brother-in-law, every time they come down, they'd stock up on boots and shirts.

Susan, I am hoping for the schools to be closed too tomorrow on account of ice. This part of the state hasn't seen snow in 10 years.

Our new furbabies don't know how to react to the snow. This is Billie..quite quizzical about all the white stuff around her.

Who says old age doesn't have it's merits? Rimau, my 11 year old, wise in his old age.. travelling along the path with the least resistance.

LK, I thought that's what you meant! I don't use real salt at all. I use Morton's lite. And not much of that! My neighbor gave me som homemade chili last night, and it was waaaaay to salty! I didn't eat much of it, and I'll throw the rest away.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tina in MB, how's it going over there? On 31 there were a couple of wrecks, folks driving as though it's normal weather.

Trisha, this is the beginning of split pea soup!! See that big ham bone in it? You make me hungry for some tonight! Gonna add some white beans, carrots and noodles. Kel is anxious for a bowl already.

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Sister Jaye! Do you ever check on your dmail? LOL, snow in our back of the woods! Go figure! It's bitterly cold here too, we saw a few snow flakes, but nothing like yours. Your furbabies are being put to the test!
Hello everyone!!!
Kim from Al.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Audrey, some of the side effects of my meds is fluid retention. And when I take Lasix, it raise my blood glucose. So.. :(
I drink lots of cherry stem tea, it is a natural diuretic.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well hello "wonderful, loving and fiercely loyal friend from AL" Welcome, let's see now--this makes you AL Kim or Kim 3 which do you prefer.

Oh my Jaye, you are definitely getting some of the white stuff!!! Love the pictures of your kitties--now bring them in and get them warm.

Audrey, why don't you try adding a potato or more tomatoes to the chili to cut the salt before throwing it out? Might just do the trick!!

Got my ferns moved up to the house and covered--they survived so far but don't feel like pushing my luck tonight. Our high was 43 and 19 is suppose to be coming our way. Yeap, thank goodness for the quilters and their quilts. Sleeping warm and toasty tonight.

Glenview, IL

Did you make a snow angel?

Speaking of Angels...Sistahs

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You know they say, love manifests itself. It certainly shows the love Debra has for her assigned Sistah Judy.
I can feel you being overwhelmed, Judy. Love everything Debra has done for you, and beautiful fabric art for your wall. I myself would never have thought of gifts along those lines. Yep, Debra has been lying to us, LK. She's a veteran sewer.
Judy, you're making me laugh when you wrote you got to get glass plates now!!! Come on now.. don't leave the best company!!!
Great job Debra... knowing your time's limited, you are truly remarkable!!

Maid M., I sent Kel to herd the junior kitties back to their 'abode' which is his workshop.

Glenview, IL

Nice try LK...I am a "flower" child, love all the colors!

Judy what wonderful gifts !!!!!!!!!!
Debra, Fantastic job…..you don’t sew huh????? I think you are fibbin’….!!!!

Well two more ladies can start watching their mailboxes around Thursday or Friday….I will keep track…my box and Laura’s went out today!!! Hurraaaaayy!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

OH WOW... Jaye... can Debra be my 2010 buddy? Judy, I can see why you're all in happy tears... I would be too with all that love falling out of that box of goodies.

UPDATE: Mike LOVED his first day of school in America... he said he's known now as the "Austrian Dude" by the other students. Said they were all very friendly, and nice, and helpful. AND, how cool it must have been to be in American Government class during the inauguration? The teacher had it on the tv during the entire class. The only thing bad that happened today was he didn't have time to eat all of his lunch, because everyone wanted to talk to him. When he walked into the lunch room, he said everyone clambered to get his attention for him to sit with them.
At this rate, before the end of the week, he'll be class president... LOL

Don said the house is too quiet... because I won't let the TV be on while he's doing his homework... LOL... he'll get over it.

Well... just thought I'd check in here... didn't know I'd end up drooling over Judy's gifts... but, oh, well... I'm soooo happy with what I got... and Kim the Exotic couldn't have pleased me more.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Judy, those are wonderful gifts you received from Debra. Debra, dear, it isn't nice to "fib" to your sistahs about not sewing. I covet the wallhanging with the eagle. Oh how nice!!!

Good to know the kitty babies are all safe and warm now. Worry about them. Mine are all curled up in tight little knots in the beds!! They think we should turn the heat up in the house but we tell them they are doing fine. Besides they are the ones with the fur coats!!!

BJ, what fun you and Don are experiencing with Mike. Bet he was a starving boy at dinner time.

Trisha, that dessert recipe sounds awesome!! Will have to try that one before very long. I love cherries!!! Can't wait until they are in season again--and cheaper than I am finding them now. How is Laura doing on the house search? Keeping her in my thoughts and prayers through this process.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh Judy-I love that wall hanging!!

BJ-typical american family things-shelled peanuts (baseball games), a board game-uno, monoply, something like that, some Kool-Aid, something Obama, cracker Jacks, a football, recipes for things like Chili or other typical american dishes (read them to Mike and have him write them in Austrian), a box of Macaroni & Cheese......

Tnate-shame on you-I told you I didn't want anything-you wanna peak at 1??

Dusty-all I can say is WOW and WHY HAS AUNT COOKIE NOT ABSCONDED ONE OF THOSE TO SEND TO ME??

ClanCampbell-yeah right-do you really think if Dusty joined a fairy swap that I wouldn't keep her for myself-LOL

Cathy-got you for the candy lilies

Kim-I work Mon-Fri and every other Sat....

I am so tired-it took me 2 hrs to catch up on all my threads, I think I am going to go watch the rest of the inauguration stuff upstairs in bed-that is what I have been watching all afternoon:)
