I hope none of you have any really bad problems from these storms.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

It looks like HGran is getting hammered by this storm. She is getting the freezing rain, and the elec. lines can't take the weight of it. The trees are dropping their limbs too. God Bless her, I went thru that recently and it's hard to get by nowdays without elec.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes it is and we were suppose to get it also but we are lucky that our temps are to high.... Will keep her in my prayers... We are lucky to have a wood stove so even if light go out we are ok...
Hugs,
Susan

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

Susan,That doesn't sound awful to me at all! Me and DH had been alone for over 20 years when a nephew, who ran into a spot of trouble, moved in.What an adjustment! I never really felt like I had any alone time.He is looking for an apartment.YAY! Now who's terrible?
Lynn

Nahunta, GA

Ummm, I am still terrible I guess....as my sons leaving at first had me all messed up...hurt...ect....now...I am doing the Happy dance daily as I have such Peace and Quiet!!! Praying for Gran too!!! The weather has been awful this year, very unpredictable here...I mean one day cold as it can get here, the next up in the 70's....arghhh....don't complain much on the warmer days though....

Not to sound like a dummy....but how many calls do we have to get on this game? I keep thinking 15, but that was the last one we played....I am so dingy....DUHHH...but love to play Bingo....Oh there was a farmer who had a dog and Bingo was his name o....B I N G O , B I N G O, B I N G O and Bingo was his name o.....lol...yall remember singing that when we were but wee lads and lassies???? Oh the days....wonder if they still sing it now????? Take care and many prayers and hopes for safety going out to all of you for better warmer weather...if it does not come true...yall just move a bit closer to me....not as bad here...lol...

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

The rules are at the top of the thread (Ü)
You have to get all 25 on your list to call BINGO.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Take care Gran!

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

Yes, I remember the Bingo song. I would love to have a 70 day. It is darn cold and snowing here.

I hope all with the ice storms are doing okay.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Weather channel just said that the major electrical feeder lines supplying Hillbilly Gran's area are falling(or fallen) down. These would be falling from the weight of the ice alone as they are much taller than the trees.

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

The last time we had ice storms the electric was out for about a week. Argh I hope that doesn't happen to anyone.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Oh man! This is reminiscent of the ice storm we had up here in Dec. I'm afraid she might be in for the long haul...:-(

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I have Hillbilly_Gran's cell phone number, so if we don't hear from her each morning during the ice storm, I will call her.

(Lynn) Omaha, NE(Zone 5a)

Good idea,Syrumani.Thank God she has a cell phone. The last time we had a bad storm most all of the land lines were out.

Highland, IL

Ice is just terrible!! I hope she is keeping warm!! And there is nothing wrong with parents ready to have real lives of their own!!! Then, you get the fun of grandkids!! We are getting more sleet, but NOTHING compared to what Tommie and some of the rest of you are having!!!!

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Yeah! Thank God that she has that cell phone!

The weather is supposed to be back to normal by Saturday - 40's & 50's. These ice storms are just awful.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

More than 250K without electricity this morning, Sure hope she stays warm. More than an inch of ice in her area.
edited to change that to 250 thousand. I miss-heard the report this morning.

How did I lose this thread from my watch list? I have a lot of chatter to catch up on. :-)

I dropped by this morning mostly to see if HillbillyGran had checked in, or if she was among those without power. Hope she's staying warm!

We've got an inch or so of "wintry mix" out there, but nothing dangerous here, although backing down the driveway might be challenging.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

It is a pretty good bet that she is without elec. When the ice storm hit here in 2007, the cell towers didn't have elec. either, so we were without communication. I had forgotten about that until it was mentioned on the news this morning. The news trucks cannot get any closer than Branson, MO yet. Too many roads closed/blocked with trees. They are in communication with a station in Harrison, AR that is just 20 minutes north of her. The pics. from there showed 1 1/2 in ice on the tree limbs, with more hanging down in icecicles. They are saying that most of Northern Arkansas will miss the Super Bowl as the elec is not going to be on everywhere until next week. It is too dangerous to work now with trees falling all around.
And all we can do is PRAY.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I have paged her and left a voice mail . . . but I'm thinking maybe cell towers could be affected by ice as well? I'll give her a few hours, then try again.

Todays Bingo Picks:

55. AV – Evangeline

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Oh My! Hope Gran is making out ok...
We are getting it now--snow, ice, rain--I'm more worried about things getting worse later--the temps are supposed to rise, then drop.
BTW--I've had a couple of threads drop off my watch list also in the last couple of weeks!

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

I got a message from Tommie - she is without power (or internet) for now. Sounded in good spirits . . .

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Thanks--good to know she is ok--even if her power is out. Hope she gets it back sooner than later!

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Good News!!! I do worry so.....

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

Good thing is, starting tomorrow the high for her is supposed to get up over freezing - for at least 10 days. Bad thing is, the lows will be below freezing for at least 10 days.

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

Aww Jeez, now they are saying it may be 3 weeks before they get the lights on out in the country.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Sigh...
