Morning Ladies...

WOO HOO... doing the happy dance with ya, CUZ!!! what great news.

I'm blown away at Dusty's talent... kind of discourages me from ever trying sculpting again... but, maybe will take that online class she is going to teach... I never can get sculpted faces, hands and feet to come out right. Sheesh, her detail work is extraordinary...

Jaye... please let us know how the dr. appointment went today.

Phyllis... I LOVE your new box... it's beautiful.

Well, Mike is officially enrolled in school. He is so excited to learn his way around, and meet some friends... I've done my best to keep him occupied, but hey... I'm old. The entire office personnel at the school had to come out and meet him... including the kitchen staff... he'll be the most popular student at school before the week is up.
LOL... I had to rent "The Sound of Music" yesterday... he'd never seen it before... he really enjoyed it, and even explained some Austian History referrences that were part of the movie.

Now, Don and I have the whole day to ourselves... but, I'll have to pick him up from school and take him for school supplies... since his teachers will all give him a list today.

So, I better get moving here so I can get some things done... I've been so used to working around here at my own pace... sort of a slower pace... that this is going to take some time for me to get used to having another person to take care of now. BUT, I don't regret it... it's been soooo interresting so far... I'm very glad to have him here.

So I am grounded for today. LOL.

Deborah, where are you? You doing ok?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh I am so happy to hear the news!!! Doing happy dance with ya'll!! This year is definitely going to be a good year!

I'm going to go get some breakfast and get ready then off to the dentist I go! The worse parts about it is the shots and when the numbing starts wearing off, but I haven't had any work done by this dentist so maybe he's better than the one in CA. lol he almost has to be better than the one in CA, the one in Ca is the reason I'm having most of these fillings done, from cavities under the fillings gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I know, hee hee........I just hope my buddy posts pix of it, if she gets it today.......

(((Kathy))) Big hug Sis!

Just a heads up for all you gardeners, pet lovers...pass it on please!

Please tell every dog or cat owner you know. Even if you don't have a pet, please pass this to those who do.

Over the weekend the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. They loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog Calypso decided that the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn't acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Half way through the walk, she had a se! izure a nd died instantly.

Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company's website, this product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.

Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey's, and they claim that 'It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won't eat it.'

Snopes.com verifies this information. See their write-up athttp://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/cocoamulch.asp

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman's Garden Supply and other Garden supply stores, contains a lethal ingredient called ' Theobromine'. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks. Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker's chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of th eobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.

PLEASE GIVE THIS THE WIDEST DISTRIBUTION!!!

OH, WOW... I never heard of Cocoa Mulch before... that's good to know.
Although there are some dogs and cats I'd like to deter from milling around in my flower beds, I really don't want them dead... so, I'll stay away from that mulch... THANKS, Cookie.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I've used that mulch in my front flower bed at the old house. When you first put it down it smells awesome! But my experience with it is the smell doens't last long and if you have a slope or hill, it's so light it floats in a rain. Where I used it no dogs could get to it, but my cats could. Glad nobody got hurt!

KATHY! Happy dance here, too!
Snow flurries here, 23*
BJ, glad you're enjoying Mike, and he;s enjoying being in the good old USA!
Kinda Kay, did you mean soaking my toes in salt water could make me swell?
Nurse called me this morning about my Zocar and asked me if I'd been off it. Yep, it was up! And I'd been out since before Christmas. My RX ran out and they weren't in their office.
I had a restless night last night. Maybe it was the antibiotics?
Can't wait to get my fat quarters! Then I'll have an excuse to go shopping!
