DAILY PICS VOL. 173

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

So many bluebirds, dellrose! I think I saw one when we lived in N Virginia. Once. You're so lucky to have so many!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

I was just going through my pix and I came across this old one. Can someone pls ID?

Evie..I have never seen a Pileated on the ground or a Pine Siskin in flight...great job on both! Lucky you!

Duc...I fell in love with the BB's last winter when they came to drink from the heated water bowl. I got hooked!! I also have a Bewick's Wren that has stayed here for the past two winters and they also eat tons of mealworms. I am going broke but it is worth it!!

I almost forgot that the Cedar Waxwings visited the dead tree while our company was here...this is a through the window shot.

Evie...that looks like a male House Finch.

Edited to say...but I am wrong a lot! LOL!

Purple Finch - plenty of red on the back and flanks, where a House Finch just has brown streaks.

Nanny, have my fingers crossed for you, E.Grosbeak are beautiful birds.

A great variety Adel, interesting Emu.

Love the pic of the Wigeon, Knip.

Congratulation on the Redpoll Rose, Happy to hear, you actually seen them with your own eyes. Hope they keep coming back for you. But careful what you wish for, though lol, they are worst, then the goldfinches for thistle seeds. You'll probably have to go through your couch for extra money. :) But they are so sweet to have around. Love the Bluebirds, and Waxwings.

Meth, I do agree Jays have the neatess expression.

Evie, 2 Pileated!!! wow. I'm pretty sure Redpolls are in your area.

Love the California Towhee, Duc and Adel.

A Pine Sisken on the Coconut feeder.

Resin - Thanks! I've renamed the picture so I don't forget

burn - Yes, we've seen redpolls, but not for any good length of time. I'll see a few for an afternoon, and then not again for months. :(

As for the pileateds, the whole family was here in late summer/fall. It is so awesome when the parent birds bring their kids to your house!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I did see the pileated on the ground a few times last year. In fact that is how I missed my first photo op. I was busy looking up and didn't see it on the ground just a few feet from me until it took off!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I'm so jealous of all of your pine siskins! They are really gorgeous!

American Goldfinch. I didn't have to crop at all!

Great pictures everyone. The photos just keep getting better and the variety of subjects keeps growing!

This pretty lady would not stand still for very long, so the shot is not as clear as I would like it to be. But, she sure is pretty!

She's a beauty GrannyG. She looks like she's maybe a young one or just plain skinny. I love her expression.

Elphaba, that Goldfinch is pretty too.

Burn, love that Pine Siskin. Most of mine have gone off, but I still see one or two sharing thistle with the Lesser Goldfinches. Love that coconut feeder.

Manzanita, OR(Zone 8b)

I guess this is a young American Robin. It's not only very light, but its bill is still dark.

The American Robins were going crazy while eating the Toyon tree berries today.
