Minus 31C (-24F) this morning when I got up. And that's warmer, then what we had all week. It's started to snow now, and it's suppose to warm up considerably.

A Hoary Redpoll.

In the feeder with the pine siskins.....I have a cheapo grocery store mix of 'fruits and berries' seed mix and a cut in half orange. Basically I had been reading and the kids opened a soft orange.......then wouldnt eat it so I put it out for the birds. It was clean and good just wasnt 'kid' worthy. :) Apparently they liked it! Since the temps have remained below freezing I have left it out there.

We finally got some pictures of that rascally wood pecker.....hope to upload soon.

Nanny, you're really getting some gorgeous pics.
Heny, love the woodpeckers. I took some of a downy yesterday, but they weren't all that exciting!

This is a test of what my pics look like on this thread when I super, duper crop them!

nanny_56, great shot of the Cedar Waxwing. What a beautiful bird. Wish we had those a little farther north in my neck of the woods. :)

Countrymouse, they are here in Idiana year round...you just have to be were they are finding food. Last I never even noticed these beauties around. (we moved here Jan '07) This fall they were all over the place, every where I looked. Don't know how I missed the the first year here! LOL

Cute pics nanny!

Plymouth, IN(Zone 5a)

nanny_56,
Goodness, how did you get that Tufted Titmouse to sit still long enough to take all those pictures? Mine usually swoop in just long enough to grab one sunflower seed and they're off like a shot again.

I'll have to look harder in the thickets along the road to see if I can spot a Cedar Waxwing. Do they ever come up to your feeders?

Melanie

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL...The titmouse is comfortable eating it's seed there at this feeder most of the time.

I have not had any waxwings come to the feeders...not yet anyway. I find them in the thicket's along the road I live on.

Sometimes you will find them hangin around with American Robins too.
