Cyndie, You may add to your instructions my offer to send folks the artwork for seed envelopes for anyone who wants to print out their own packets and needs them for this round robin.
See my post above which shows the packet layout, and the info I would need to include.
NE Forum Round Robin for Flowers, Veggies or Herbs
I'm bumping this up, too. Just a reminder.
If you are a newbie, or have never posted, dmail me and I will answer your questions and add you to the list.
I will keep this open until the weekend and then we will start.
If you've got questions, post them, otherwise, start making your packets!
you can ask Dave to make this thread a "sticky" and it will stay on top until you want it to come down....
I'd love to join you but the only seeds I have that would work for you all are morning glories and hollyhocks......I'll be able to join in a couple years when we move back home!!!
I would LOVE some more Hollyhocks and MGs, too!!!!
I asked to be "thrown on the list" on the 4th, but my name's not up there yet.
By the way, what is the deadline for sending them in?
Sorry, PrimroseSue,
Somehow I missed your request! You are on the list!
All you need to do is get your seeds ready. We send the package to you. I will close the robin this weekend and compile the mailing list. When you receive the box, you will then send it on to the next person on the list.
I will make mailing lists and include them.
I have added a deadline of Sunday, so this weekend start getting your packets ready.
I will post a list Saturday of what will be in the box when it leaves here.
Golden rule here, take what you can plant this year and leave plenty for the people on the list after you. I don't want to set a fixed amount of seeds you are able to take because I want those of you with few seeds to be able to get a big headstart on your garden this year.
Questions or suggestions, post here.
mrsj, Please join us!
I never knew what a round robin was - I was thinking this was just a swap. Can't wait!
A round robin is like a present for gardeners. There is no way you can guess what is in the package and you get to choose what you receive.

This is my first time also-very exciting. :-)
Last call to join in! If you are interested, but waivering, now is the time to decide.
I am getting the robin ready to go.
The box will start off with about 95 packets- I may see if I can top it off at 100.
There are an assortment:
Flowers, annual and perennial
Herbs, including basils, savory, sage
veggies, lettuce, tomato, eggplant, peppers, broccoli, winter and summer squash, cukes, etc.
I tried to include something that would interest just about anyone.
If I don't have your address, please dmail it to me.
Im so excited!! 100 packets Cyndie my. You are a great hostess!!
Robin
We are a short list so if anyone is going to be away, let me know as I compile the way the robin flies.
Just wanted to let you know I have everyone's address and will be packing up the robin.
I'll probably start it at the "southern" end of our locations and head it back up this way.
I plan to have a "delivery confirmation" added to the box and ask that each of you do as well. It only costs and extra 45 cents and is worth it. At least we can do some searching if a package gets lost.
I will post the order in the next couple of days. Something to get us through these cold cold days!
woo hoo... can't wait
Great cant wait to see whats in there.
Robin
The Robin will fly tomorrow!!!
I will post the tracking number when I get back from the Post Office.
Please attach a tracking number to the Robin when you send it on to the next person. I think it helps insure the package doesn't get lost. Costs about 50 cents extra.
Since we are all pretty close I am sending it regular mail, with the exception of Katye. Because she is on the West Coast, I will have it come back to me, then I will ship it to her Priority. That way we will all have time to get seeds started.
Labels are in the package and numbered. Just attach and send on.
This is the route:
1. Saanansandy -Done
2. DonShirer - Done
3. onewish1 - Done
4. PrimroseSue
5. Schickenlady
6. WNYwillieB
7. arejay59
8. me - then on to
9. Katye
10. Seandor
Try to keep it no more than 3 days, but we all know how that goes... Just give a status.
Think Spring!!!

Thank You Cyndi. What a great Hostess you are!!
Robin
you are good... thanks for running this!... I can't wait
Oh and i couldn't help myself - just bought more tomato seeds.
Slapping hand 3x did not work.
I can't wait! I'll let you know when it gets here. Katye, don't feel bad. I ordered more seed from Baker Creek-late night reading in bed creates obsession!
Sue
Well I guess I have to fess up if you are all going to . I found myself at a bulb site. Stayed longer than I should, Only a few Lillies and some glads and just a couple morning glories and asparagus. Well maybe a couple of Begonias. Spring is coming , Right?
You think you are bad, Kayte, I have some more seeds coming, too, hopefully by this Friday or Monday. Fingers Crossed!
Glad I am lower on the list!
Thank you SO much, Cyndie, for your valuable time and all your effort to organize this for us!
Bulk lots of:
Filipendula hexapetala (vulgara) 500 seeds
Aster alpinus Beauty Dark Blue 500 seeds
Basil Aroma 2 1,000 seeds
Basil Mammoth 1,000 seeds
Buddleia davidii Butterfly Hybrids 1,000 seeds

Digitalis purpurea glox. Giant Shirley Mix 5,000 seeds
Heliotrope Marine 1,000 seeds
Leontopodium alpinum (Edelweiss) 5,000 seeds
You guys are all so very welcome!! It was fun getting it started. I love Robins.
I am glad you all fessed up, because this Robin just proves how addicted to seeds we all are. We may definitely have to send this robin around a second time to share everything.
Especially if you lean more one way than the other. (Veggies or Flowers, I mean. ;) hehehe
I have a question for Willie, though. How big is your backyard? That's a lot of seeds!
Here is the tracking number. 0308 2040 0000 9307 0813. Not that you can really track during shipping, but it will tell you when it arrives and is a great placebo for the worrying about it getting lost.
It is a small box, they seem to stand up better than an envelope. Shipping was $3.45 which included confirmation. Just so you know what to expect.
Cyndie
Cyndie: Unfortunately it is NOT large enough to handle all the seeds! A typically small, suburban lot.
I think they are around 1/8 acre? in these parts.
According to the Google calculator:
approx 8,520 (sq feet) = 0.195592287 acres (which I see is closer to 1/5 acre)
My lot is where the street bends ever so slightly, so the front is 51 foot wide, the back is 65 foot wide, by 142 foot deep.
Dad had planned to split the purchase of the empty lot between us and the next nearest neighbor (the next plot over after that), it never happened, dagnabbit. Then, I would probably have had a whole 1/4 acre!!
BUT, before you on plantations pity me for my small plot, I am most fortunate to have about 5 undeveloped acres behind my property, which separates my yard from the yards of the businesses on the other side of "no man's land."
We fondly refer to this area as "The Outback."
This is the view east, looking back toward where The Outback is behind my property (See all those oaks? They are behind my yard).
Willie- Great looking yard! Who needs all that grass? hehehe
Every year, I take a little back from my yard. It is probably much smaller than your flat yard. I live in the woods and the only portion cleared is what they had to do to build the house. But, I have raised beds on the south sun side and in my front yard which is east and sun a large part of the day.
Hence, the comment about not needing grass. ;)
I live on a private road, part of a camp/lake road, so no neighborhood zoning to adhere to. When me moved in we had the choice of mulching or grass. I WISH I had chosen mulch. The grass is a monster to get rid of.
I love my garden and I do have the luxury of being able to please myself with what I do.
It is nice though, when the few neighbors we do have stop by and compliment your work. Actually, the compliment is always followed by the statement that I am a fixture in the front yard. LOL
LOL .... I bet you are a fixture like me!
I get complaints that I have "too many flowers" from my neighbors ... though, without even so much as a comma, they say .... Oooooo, do you think THOSE would grow in my yard .... and take a shovelful home with them. Haa Haa Haa.
Here is a panorama (if it shows up) of the yard, looking back from the house to The Outback. When I was a kid, we had no plants in this yard, I was tired of mowing, so I started digging in gardens .... eventually there will be ever so little "lawn." ^_^
My goal is to purchase the side of a mountain one of these days .......
I get a comfortable feeling looking at your yard, Willie. And lots of places for flowers!
Thanks, Cyndie! Adding the pond has totally helped with that "feeling."
Glad you have enjoyed seeing it! Sit for a spell by the fire pit and kick off your shoes!
^_^
No outdoor firepit tonight - too chilly out here on the west cost. Why can't California share some of their heat?
Willie - you have FLAT property. Nice! I have sloping - makes for interesting commentary when I'm barrowing.
(Oh, Please dear Lord - no videos of me doing my typical loopy gardening maneuvers...)
Did you figure out how many seeds per square foot? Ha! I tease you only because I have purchased more seed than I need. But - there's always next year...
I had exercised incredible restraint until this past weekend. Now that I've broken the running streak, there's no reason to hold back!
Yes - I ordered even more. I will wait on receiving the seed box before I cave in & order flower seed.
Well, I'll attempt to make an honest effort.....try to try? oh, give up.
Funnnn-kneeee .... seeds per sq.ft. And yes, most of the cataract city is flat as a pancake. Though, we don't have to drive but twenty minutes to be in the hills.
I want to order more, but have to be realistic in my ability to tend all of this and still be able to get my work work done.
It's a sharp, double-edged sword running a business out of the house.
So far, I've only suffered a close shave!
Bring your shovel, if you want to sit by the fire pit .... it's under about a foot of snow!
Please, post the videos!!! ^_^
I can only hope that my neighbours are often scared by my antics, and drop the vid cams in their haste to escape any hauntingly vivid memories.
The acreage next door was overgrown until 8 yrs ago. Now there are 4 houses that look out & over my property. I often forget who has the potential to see what...
Working at home is quite different from what many imagine. I have done this & while it allows for greater scheduling flexibility, it has its drawbacks, too. One must be very focused & persistent in working. too easy too get distracted...
Willie, I know you have probably said it before, but I was wondering what kind of business you have. I know it would be tough to not be outside when you should be working.
Katye, I have a slope here, too. I have a garden cart that I have to be careful I don't fill too full and try to push to the back yard. It has a mind of its own if I do that.. LOL
We live in the country, but I know that eventually there will be a lot of houses around us. The land has some great building sites and the land owners will eventually cave in to selling their property. Can't really blame them since property taxes are so high.
Just want to let everyone know that I received the wonderful box of goodies yesterday. I will be sending it out this afternoon. Lovely seeds cyndiehook! thank you for hosting this great round robin. I'll let everyone know what the confirmation number is after I mail it. :-)
Sue
Ok here's the confirmation number: 0308 0070 0000 4191 0649
I mailed it first-class mail parcel and it was $3.79 Well, worth it!! :-)
Sue, Glad you got the box and I hope you found some things you could enjoy.
