Cyndie, my small business is in graphic design and large-format printing. It is sometimes tough looking out at the yard grow, but payday makes it all worth while. Besides, how else would I be able to afford even MORE plants!!??!!

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Oh Willie,
Now that is a bunch of seeds, I don't feel anywhere near as extreme as I did a week ago. You are right there on the list with me. Pushing the add to my cart button!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Willie I would love some of the Digitalis purpurea glox. Giant Shirley Mix.... thank you for the offer

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I didn't binge TOOO much, AreJay59 .... ^_^ ...... That was after narrowing the list down by half, too! :(

You got it, Allison!

I am going to test germinate a sampling of the seeds to see how good the germination rate is.

I will start that tomorrow, so, I should know in a short week how things look. No sense sending spent seeds.

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Willie, I am a sucker for basil, so i would like a few seeds of the Mammoth.
I think it's great that you can work from home. Computers are good for that. I was in school before the home computer. In another life, I would work with computers, too. I enjoy it a lot.
I won't have them until fall, but if you want some echinacea, I can save the seeds. They are really easy and make great clumps of flowers.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

aahi aaaaaawillie,
I would love some of the Buddleia davidii Butterfly Hybrids,Delphinium Pacific Giant Round Table Mix,Digitalis purpurea glox., I have a trade list if there is something you are looking for I will add it to the box and put your name on it.

It is becoming very obvious that we could keep this box going for quite some time. ;)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

thank you Willie!!!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hope there is extra room in that box.... I have a pile of 29 packs ready to go

LOL

think I am a seedaholic????

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

That's a huge number. I think they will fit. ;)
Hope you can find some stuff you like.

Cant wait. Dreamer

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I feel like a kid a few weeks before christmas!

Westbrook, CT(Zone 6a)

Wow! What a selection! Quel largesse! I found quite a few things I had been meaning to try. But through an excrucitating effort of will, I managed to put in more than I took out because of a lack of growing room. Next year, I'm going to have to expand my light stands!

Cyndie, from the number of packs you enclosed, you must have several acres of garden at least! I am impressed. Thanks for your effort.

Alison: I managed to zip down to the post office and get in line before they closed. The package is mailed first class, and the clerk estimates it will be there Tuesday.
The Delivery Confirmation Number is 0308 0070 0001 3435 0659, and yes it does work. Mine told me that it arrived at our PO early this morning, and it was in my mailbox at 11am!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

woo hoo... can't wait!!!!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Me neither!

I have started the seeds, under lights, in the warmest room of the house.

Hopefully, things will sprout quickly, as I am sure the box will be here as soon as I blink!

I am making up seed envelops as we speak!!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Don, Glad you could find something to try!

No, I don't have acres of garden, that is exactly why there are so many packets. I can't stop trying new things.
I encourage everyone to take as much as they would like to try! The packets are small you know.
The robin is certainly flying! Get ready onewish1.

I really wish that the different seed sellers offered "try me" paks. I like to grow things I've not tried for a number of reasons. However, I don't like to buy all those seeds, as I feel wasteful when they end up in the compost pile. Guess the best way to deal with seed is to purchase with the intent of sharing. That way, the plant is grown under a variety of situations which gives me a better idea of how it performs, plus, you get to spread the joy.
One way we deal with excess seed out my way is to grow extras & then exchange plants at our spring swap.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes Katye,
I so understand that. That is why I love this so DG so much there are so many people and as my grandmother always said one mans trash is another mans treasure. I am so excited to share what I don't need for something I cant wait to try.

A big belated "thank you!" to Cyndie, too, for starting this. For me, it's early enough to make the necessary decisions about how many to sow & where they will be planted. Most things I will sow in another 4 weeks or so. I would love to get a coldframe that is large enough to place on top of a 4' X 8' raised bed - no such luck finding one. Plus they tend to be no higher than 28". Guess I'd better off building it exactly how I want. I've got a few weeks to go!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

You are most welcome, Katye. Sharing is the best part of DG.
How high do you need your coldframe to be? I ask because I saw an idea for a hoop house that was PVC pipe attached to the ground by sliding it over a piece of rebar driven into the ground. Then you can cover with plastic or floating row cover. I am doing one over my lettuce and greens this spring. I have problems with flea beetles.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Cyndie - I was hoping for a height of at least 36". I have seen the rebar/pvc set-up, but need to reinforce it across the top & then again on either side about half-way up.(ooo - that sounds weird.) Must be able to secure it to the raised bed due to the direction of the wind - any ideas along these lines?
I can build one out of wood that meets the requirements, but it would be a bit heavy to move.

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Does your bed have a wood base? If so, maybe you could fashion a wood frame just for the purpose of clamping the PVC to it for support. It would only have to go half way up.
I have 2 portables. One is a walk in with aluminum frame. It's light but not what you would say could be moved around very easily. I put it up and it stays up for the season. It does fold up fairly well for storage.
I have a smaller 4x8 house. It is 36 inches tall, but only at the center top. It is like a tent with 2 zip openings on each side.
Both have long stakes that hold it to the ground like tent stakes. I have never lost one yet.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Cyndie - regarding the walk-in with the aluminum frame, did you make it or buy it?
If bought, do you recall the manufacturer? Thx!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

This is the one I have. I picked mine up at a salvage store chain here in Maine really cheap. I can't remember now, no more than $80.
http://www.greenhouseoutlet.com/germinator.shtml
It is called the Germinator, so you may find a better price by doing some surfing on the web. I have the smaller one.
I think this line has been discontinued so it is available sporadically now.
There are other portable greenhouses. Harbor Freight is one company who carries them.

There are probably more, but I stopped looking when I got mine. :)

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Thanks Cyndie - I'll check these out. It's great that they are fairly easy to take down: makes life less complex!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

When I was looking for mine, I noticed Walmart online has some models of portable greenhouses.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

. . . rats, I missed this!

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Seandor, Still time if you want to join in. The box just started and I can send it on to you after Katye.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Excellent! Thanks for adding me . . . this will be fun! Can I ask a stupid question? Do people really want veggie seeds? I get some in seed swaps and I can't use them. But I won't put them in unless there is a real demand for them.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

I plant alot of Vegetables I would love to have some.
Robin

Central, ME(Zone 5a)

Put them in.
When everything is done, I will either send the box around or do an SASE to each person if they want something that is left. Then, I am sending the leftovers to Lorraine. She is doing a newbie seed thing and they don't have enough veggies.
Thanks, Seandor. Glad you could join.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Okay - you got 'em

Michaela

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Cyndi,
That is wonderful. Lorraine will be so excited.
