Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #77

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, trying to open that link but can't access it...is it my computer or link doesn't work...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

The podiatrist took off both sides of both big toenails this morning, and killed the roots. I have to keep my feet up, so I'm going to bed!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Audrey, that is no fun! Been there done that--but good thing--isn't it covered by Medicare? My Mom's is and she has the same problem. I had mine done when I was in my late 30's and since I have had any problems--removed the entire toenail. Thank goodness they do grow back.

Yeap, Betty I did the bathroom about 2 1/2 years ago when I finally moved to this house. Also installed all the cupboards in what we call the "moat" actually utility room coming in from the carport. Then son took on remodeling the "dungeon" and I am his assistant. Which means more like his "gofer" helper, LOL

Afternoon all.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Afternoon everyone........a light wind and raining absolute buckets here......in some areas of western Washington they say we are getting as much as an inch per hour. wouldn't be too bad except I have to leave in a few minutes to take Laura to an appointment.....sure will be glad when their car is fixed.....I don't like the rain any better than my dog does......she just looked outside and went "Nope, ain't goin' out there!" Unfortunately I do not have that option.....

Hope your tummy gets better soon Betty.

Stay safe, talk to you all later!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Laura, your not in any danger of mud slides are you.
Please be careful.
My Brother lives in Bremerton, and they are having bad weather there also.

LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

Snow is starting for now to lessen, probably got about 8 to 10" since this morning...roads are slick..Suzanne is a great driver so know we'll just take our time going home...

Audrey, you best take a couple of days to mend, you sure wouldn't want to get infection in those toes...did he give you painkillers as well?

Marion, now wouldn't we just be a team if we lived closer, you sound much as I, hate waiting on others so will try anything, anything that is except ELECTRICITY..I can get in enough trouble without playing with current...I just love the sense of accomplishment when you do something on your own...I sometimes walk through my home amazed at what I have accomplished in 4 years...when I bought the place it was falling down and I think my kids were a little embarassed to know their mother lived in such a place..now it's the prettiest..with my paintings, my creativity and HARD work, many come and enjoy it's uniqueness..

When I finish one project my mind turns to another...already next project in mind...

The front bedroom window is directly at my headboard..room isn't large enough for a canope bed but here is what I'm hoping to do..on Jan.19th fabricland is having a super sale and if you are a member you get an additional 25% off..lots of window dressing yardage will be on sale...so I'll measure about 1/3 from the window wall to over the bed, allow for a drape of about 1 1/2' which will be put into a rod to hang across the top of the ceiling where bed is then drape where back wall meets the ceiling and downward to cover the window...just can't explain it properly but know it will be adorable, mix of country and victorian...feminine look...anyway, worse that can happen is I take it down..lol

Trisha do be careful out there..sounds like an awful amount of rain in a short span..

Linda Kay is it me or are we all having such different weather this winter..winter is winter but seems so many areas are being affected..

Do hope you all keep safe..

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, if we closer there wouldn't be enough trouble for us to get into!!! LOL

I am very much when I want it done, it means yesterday usually. Son is perfectionist----more than is necessary. I like thing perfect but not to the degree he does.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, I don't think it is you, we are having a very mild winter for us so far. and my Brother in Washington, is having a very harsh winter. Lots of snow, that they never get.

LK

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-I just clicked the link and it works fine??

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey maybe it was the work computer was having difficulties..just got in, must go run my bath, into flannel nightly, hot chocolate then come back and post...it will be a night to sit and watch the storm....should be out snowblowing, even my plowman didn't come..have to check somehow, Kyle was telling me that Andy had cancer..know he lost his mom a few weeks ago, maybe Kyle got it mixed up...but that could be why an odd day he doesn't make it..God bless him...

Mother Nature must be up to something Linda Kay...

Marion, my son is a perfectionist as well and also to the extreme...drives me cracy...he is proud of what I can accomplish though..if anyone thinks they can do better then they ought to drop and and do it for me right..lol...no can't do that then what would I have to occupy myself...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Glad you made it home safe!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Was tough going Stacey, really stormy, no accidents my way and drivers are being cautious, that's half the battle...could barely find my drive...bought that snowblower but now I'm too comfy in the house to go out and use it..perhaps early tomorrow morning when the storm has settled...if it settles...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I hear you-it seems like snow EVERY day-and Tuesdays are my work day outside and this next Tues supposed to be 21 below wind chill!!!:(

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, I take stronh pain meds daily, so I already had some, and you can bet I'll take them! So far, no pain, but I'm still numb! He said they might be numb till tomorrow! I hope so!
Talked to Lisa tonight, she sounds better!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Audrey, glad to hear your not in too much pain right now, and glad to hear your daughter is doing better. Prayers for you all.
Betty, glad to hear your drive home was OK.
Take care.
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Glad to hear all are home safe.....I just got in....Sat in the car waiting for Laura for almost an hour...listening to storm reports on the radio.....when she finished the car wouldn't start................I think it is time for a new battery. Were Laura and I are not in any danger of flooding or slides but so many places are flooded and mandatory evacuations are in place in many areas....I-5 The main north/South Freeway through the state is being closed down in several places.....a large part of our state is under State of Emergency conditions.......the freeway shutdown causes problems state wide as goods cannot be shipped to grocery stores etc.. We went through all of this in December of 2007 and a lot of people have not yet recovered from that flood.......Our whole state really needs your prayers right now.

Once we got the car started we were able to continue our shopping....Target had all of their Christmas things 90% off....got 5 little Christmas Trees for the Santa's.....Small Stockings and other decor for the Victorian Santa's......Then found some wonderful deals on remnant fabric at JoAnn's, as well as a cutting matt and 2 Rotary cutters for 40% off........so we can get rained in now...have lots of projects to keep us busy in addition to our leather projects and swaps we are involved in......

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That's cool Trisha. I love sales like that, I'm just not good at finding what I need at them. No patience I guess.

I'm such a nerd, I was looking at the back of my hair by pulling it over my head, I stared up at it so long pulling on the split ends my eyes feel like they're stuck looking up toward the top of my head! That's really weird!

I've started embroidering a couple of pillow cases. Butterflies. I started it last night and haven't been able to work on it this evening because Dave wanted chocolate chip cookies, now I've eaten too much dough LOL! Maybe that's why my eyes are sticking looking up!

Betty I am so glad you made it home ok. I've been watching the weather on Accuweather.com all day and you have been getting slammed up there.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

The weather is nasty a lot of places....we are in a major state of emergency right now.......all we can do is watch and wait....

Ohhhh chocolate chip cookies sound sooooo good right now!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Please be careful and safe everyone. This weather has certainly been rough this year!!!

Oh chocolate chip cookies--humm warm too I bet.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy did you save me a chocolate chip cookie to go with my hot chocolate this morning...

Snow stopped last last and my plowman didn't come as yet, am hoping to get out of the yard before the municipal plow passes by or I'll be stuck for sure...

Going for a perm tonight, no do it yourself with Noah, lol, using up one of my certificates Darlene gave me...so I'll be looking spiffy again...

Paul won't be in the office for the rest of the week so I'll be painting on my panel..if I'm a good girl and keep focused it might be finished today, if not tomorrow for sure..

Trisha, praying for your state for sure..how devastating for you all..the worry of being affected in some way is enough to shatter your nerves...omg you did do some shopping...my turn tomorrow..just need paint to finish painting the hallway doors and trim -5 in all but that will be easy and work hopefully on my stained glass piece..

Prefer to stay in and just vegetate in the winter..safer that way..

Audrey hope no pain today but of course that might mean your resting for the remainder of the day...no pressure on it..upi ,ist feel relieved to not be worrying over Lisa..

Marion, these kind of days you must be thinking how lucky you are to have moved from Ontario..lol..know you all have your weather problems but they seem to come in series of days, ours, well, snow started in beg. of November and not likely to be gone by end of March..5 months of white..yuk..

Better be off and get myself ready just incase Suxanne decides to leave earlier...

Talk when I get to the office...

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Up until this year I always put up a portable carport in my drive (don't have a garage) and it had caused some problems. Snow was heavy last year and the weight pull the carport down and ben the poles so this year I decided to go without! And who would believe that we have had more snow this year than in any of the years I put it up! It was always so nice not to have to clean off the snow and ice and now that seems to be all I do. My next place is going to have a garage for sure.

Victoria Harbour, ON

wouldn't mind Janice doing something similar, maybe an overhang built coming off the house or to the side of the yard..my girlfriend Darlene has two of the ones similar to what you are talking about and she's always with the snow rake taking snow down so don't know that it makes thinks easier... but a carport would...only problem is municiplaities have such rules and regulations that it cost fortune to build something simple...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I pray for no more snow or excessive rain. The weather has been so bad this year, and yesterday, they were have freezing rain in Maryland, where my hubby is from. Just bad weather all over.
Please be careful when you have to go out in it.

LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

no wonder insurance premiums are up, so much damage...would imagine claims are sky high..

Roads were fine up until Barrie, no snow but looking out my office door can see it's starting to blow..we're used to this so not overwhelming it's just it's been since 1st week of November...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Geeze I have been a busy bee lately.
If I am not cleaning, I am doing laundry...In between, I have been working on a few crafts I have just got to finish before I start something new.
Yesterday, started to walk. I've really enjoyed my walks on the beach and so decided to keep it up everyday. So, yesterday started out a bit slow and just walked around our lil area, up and down the blocks. Now these are brisk walks as it is cold, so even better for me.

We had some snow, so decided to shovel! Geesh, i've not done this in years, lol usually Steve and Jacob take care of this. Yikes, was a good warm up for my walk. Then had to restock the wood and then Julia and Anthony reloaded the outdoor bins.
Went to Home depot and Menards looking for a filter for my vacuum...A wasted trip, I don't get how they can sell an item and then not have the parts and pieces! aggrevating...so ended up using shopvac again, just couldn't stand the mess any longer.

Today, I am concentrating on the Kitchen, LOL, can't wait till all this deep cleaning is done!
Also, taking down the decorations. Started this last night so will finish today.

So, I hope that you are well.
Do be careful in your travels.

OH, BTW...

Best: I made it 1 week...(well as of tonight) It hasn't been too terrible. I kind of was worried as nothing clearing, but well finally started today.

Worst: Never ending cleaning.

Learned: One can achieve the goals they set for them selves, all in good time, all in good patients.

Oh Yeah, got to fill my feeders and watch the show!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My best friend lives fairly close to Birmingham, and she said the whole state of Ala. has just about washed away! Seems they're getting the rain they didn't get last summer!
I slept like a baby last night, no pain! The old toes look pretty rough today, but after I soak them for 20 min. in epsom saltz water they should look OK. I'm so glad I had it done, I have no pain in them now, and when I went in, the right one was hurting. Almost doing the happy dance!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Judy-I find mine at WM I think of all places...or try looking online...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy congratulations...my goodness girl you will be fit as a fiddle (isn't that what they say) and the bonus is you'll be organized and have a clean house...now what I want to know, who is doing the cooking you or Steve..please say you..give my sweetie Steve a break..surprise him tonight..lol...

Guess with not smoking keeping so active is helping you isn't it..you say you are not finding it extremely difficult, could be because this time YOU made the choice to quit and no longer want to smoke..how wonderful...everyone must be so proud of you...I should have filled on my feeders before we got more snow, now I'll be waist deep again...next year I'll have to put some in a more accessible location, one that is semi plowed...

Was on the back deck this morning, wow it was cold but it looks like spring out there..anyway there was a flower container sitting there and I looked inside and could see cigarette butts filling the bottom, lordy I wish that Jeff would quit...but as he says, his choice, his life..for someone so smart he sure is stupid!

Audrey, I'm so pleased that you are not in pain...did they say you'd have to get this procedure done again or was it a one time thing? no wonder you want to do the 'happy dance' .. feels good to be able to walk without pain...

Stacey off I go to check if I can get the link

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Link?? I did see your list in the likes and dislikes-wowzers!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Onetime only! It really wasn't as bad as I had feared. He's a good DR. and kept talking to me all through the injections. I didn't feel much at all! I would do it again, if I had to!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Encouraged when having a great doctor..nothing worse than going when you are fearful...

No dislikes Stacey..lol
this new mystery challenge swap should be easy for the person who got ME! lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey, I don't mind the wallpaper a bit...love the acrylic counter tops..had one when I lived on the lake, installed a fixture underneath the counter and at night when you turned it on the entire counter top lit up with just enough light to be a night light...looked so pretty...

In order to have it done at my present house I'd have to enlarge the cupboard that is there now or make it smaller..too much work, easier just to find a counter top and zinc I like...

You'll just have so much fun doing the renovations...when do you think you will start...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

DH wants me to give him a list with details(like item #ers and pricing)& take pics with my camera, then we will measure it all out and start purchasing slowly-like the sink this week, in a couple weeks the mirror-like that until we get it all-will take a couple mos, then he is going to take a vacation and do it-that and the front door...

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Good Luck! I can't do things that way. When I see something I want done I have to do it NOW! Want to gather the things needed and start right away. Want to see what it looks like when it is done RIGHT NOW!
Kind of like Betty in that respect. I guess I'm just and "immediate gratification" person.

Victoria Harbour, ON

that's the smart way to do it..as you can afford it..wish you lived closer..when I was looking for wallpaper and dropped into the re-use it store run by Humanity group, there were about 5 pedastal zincs, looked like new if not new and very cheap..

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL yes Bev much like Betty..if I think of it this morning I want to see it done tonight..would drive me absolutely crazy if I had to depend on someone else to have the energy to do it..

through a lot of these threads I'm seeing same..women are awfully handy to have around..lol

Glenview, IL

Thanks!!
LOL, Stacey never thought of walmart...will check therre this evening.

Audrey, so glad to hear about your foot. So nice to walk, dance and be pain free...Hope it continues to heal.

Oh my gosh, having to wait, is a learned thing. LOL, I can only be patent so long then, I make up for lost time till the project gets done.
My kids are in for a rude awakening when allowance time comes along. I don't have to wait for them to clean or do there chores...so, they are going to re-learn real quick to stay on top of it if they want their monies, otherwise guess who gets there allowence...
They haven't lifted a finger since I have been home...Right now i am not complaining because the whole house sure can use a thorough Mom scrubbing.
You bet Betty, it is what has been a help keeping me busy. But you know What, this time I decided it was time, not Steve, nor the kids.
It is the only thing I think that is why it's been fairly easy, I mean I say a daily prayer for strength...and I am not sure what withdrawl is suppose to be like, but i don't seem to be having this. If i feel stress or anger, I reach for a tootsie pop sucker!
OH my Tell your smokers the flower posts are not ashtrays!! My goodness, I have used pots for an ashtray but never leave buttes in them...Especially since you don't smoke. ok rant over...next time he comes, tell him to clean that out for you. LOL hands on the hips here.

Well as far as cooking, Steve has been taking it in a different approach. Cooks a bunch of meals in one evening and then heat and eat dinners...LOL He really enjoys cooking so will let him continue that chore. Although, he has bought some stuff that I can make a meal or two...

K so far no-one at the feeders, lol suppose it will take some time for my feathered friends to find them.

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Judy, Steve is just like Roger, when Roger was working away from home he'd cook all weekend and freeze t.v. dinners so the kids and I wouldn't starve.we wouldn't have you know, but why tell him, was nice not cooking..another thing I learnt as he was 22 and I 17 when we married, he was used to looking after himself..i.e. ironing, so after I burnt 2 or 3 of his shirts, well he just took over that job as well..lol

Good for you Judy, am hoping you continue to do all their chores and manage to get their allowance for craft supplies...

I put bird food out into the front birdfeeder so I could watch them eat as I sat on the couch facing the birdhouse...saw quite a few squirrels and a blue jay and 3 little birdies not quite sure what they were, we call the ass-ups (sorry)...

I'll refill mine again tomorrow and all weekend in hopes of attracting some..you know I still have that cafe birdhouse sitting there, probably no longer than a couple of hours and it would be done, must get at it, springs a coming...

Was at Michaels over lunch, didn't get paid today as paul wasn't able to make it in, thank goodness or I'd have bought 1/2 the store...80 and 90% off Christmas items....floral arrangement reg. $79.99 on for $15. and those $49.99 on for $10.00 not that I need them lol

Their spring floral arrangements aren't that nice or I would have purchased a few of those just to make my house feel 'spring' like...

Back to painting, being lazy today, could have possibly had it finished but no, have to just sit and meditate...tomorrow's another day right Gita?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Please post a pic of an "ass-up" bird!

Victoria Harbour, ON

lol, Audrey I will if they come close enough..will ask Darlene what their real names are..probably you have same birds it's just a nickname because of the way they are always positioned...

Just walked in, got nice perm and lovely cut, feel so much better! I should be out shovelling but will keep that for the morning or when I get home early afternoon tomorrow..

Off for hot chocolate and toast and early to bed...

Again can't tell you how much it has meant to me for you to keep me company today...

night/night
