woohoo...Liz, just love em.

heheh, thanks for sharing, here is a thought, maybe thread three or four together! they could be ornaments too!

It's a real cool way to recycle.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Hmmm....

My first thought was that they could be pieces to play Checkers with.......

Glenview, IL

waving Hi Gita!!

nice to see ya, Like the checkers idea too.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Sorry I wasn't around today, very busy day at work, as I knew it would be. Kind of frustrated too today, sleet/rain today, was supposed to change to rain and melt, which it did, sort of, after all of the trees and power lines were coated, I think the last I heard over 30,000 without power. Just got home dishing up my dinner that Dave painstakingly made before he went to sleep, and the power goes out (no surprise but still.) Sat in the dark w/ flashlight eating dinner, Dave went back to bed, I started separating strings for my embroidery w/ flashlight and power came back on Yay! Dave celebrated then went back to sleep, woke him up at 8, he left at 8:15ish, pray he made it alright, he didn't call so that's a good sign, and that he makes it back home tomorrow morning and that I am able to drive to work. It's supposed to warm up over night and melt the ice, but another weather network says it's going to get colder over night. Oh just heard a big pop like a small gunshot, Nice! Either a hillbilly is out there shooting a gun, which does happen a lot around here, or a big tree limb broke. Lights flickering a little. There, went and got a brighter candle LOL! I really should just go to bed.

I love the pictures of Florida and the Bay, how pretty!

I'll read more tomorrow at some point, hopefully I won't be so busy (yea right!) LOL I'd rather be busy than sitting twiddling my thumbs watching the clock.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Judy, loved the pictures.....much better than snow!

Liz, I like the bottle caps.

Gita, checkers is a good idea.

Crissy, we have been lucky so far with all of the snow, ice and rain we have not lost power so far.....I have all kinds of candles, antiques oil lamps, camp stoves, fire place.....so of course we don't lose power.

Didn't do much today.....the cold is about gone but don't have much energy......took the son in law to work (his car is out of commission), slept a lot and finished up the Silver Santa......this is the last of Have To Do ones, now I can do some Just For Fun Characters.

Love your beaded bottle tops, Liz...

And Trisha, great great silver Santa.

Fun vacation, Judy...so glad you got to go. My little girl looks great, so grown up she is.

Hi all....take care and stay warm.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all, nothing like getting up and having coffee with friends..you just don't feel like you are all alone..I'm usually quite gabby in the a.m. lol

Feel for you all who have had ice..left my car run for over 1/2 hr. yesterday so that I could get into it..heavy sheet of ice..I've been lucky so far with hydro...haven't lost it and yet down in other parts of the area they've gone without hydro for days..I did lose the telephone though for a few days but still, cel phone replaces it...

Liz love the caps...you are just so creative...up I go to take a photo of the beautiful pendant that Liz made me using spoon and resin and lovely shells...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to add photo not press send..lol..

Trisha those santa's just get more professional looking..just love them...how close do the kids live from you..they are lucky to be so close that you can help them out..

Crissy, hope you've power this morning...if the roads are icy wait until sanders come then off to work..do you have sanders? never know because some of you are getting strange weather and municipalities aren't equiped with support system i.e. plows, sanders etc. take no chances everyone...

Janice it was so funny, after I had packed and taped the box that Cedric and Bailey were travelling in I realized the santa boots were sitting there..wondered if I should include them so put them in envelope and off they went..lol..so one piece at a time do they arrive...today just might be your day..am sure they'll love (as will we) seeing all the sites in your community...you'll be a busy girl...

Linda Kay is that pretty standard for the weather you get at this time of year..don't know why but thought you had high temps...

Shar, are you still painting? doing another art show?

Gita, your travelling to family is it all over now .. done your Christmas/New Years visits...back to regular work schedule?

Best be off, bring in the furries, get them fed, dress me up and off to a leisurely day at work..doubt Paul will be in he was much too sick yesterday to have gotten better in one day..

Tummy still turning, I'm cold but no major deal, just yukky so would say it's not the flu...thank goodness...

Talk at the office...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

MORNING!!!!!!! Sorry you aren't feeling well Betty:(

DH and I talked last night about our next project for the house and I think it will be the 1/2 bath downstairs-so now I need to pick stuff out and take pictures and let him pick from the pics-that is how we work it at my house!!LOL If we go to a store to pick something out, he is off in one design style and I in another, so now I pick what I like-several selections, and he picks from those selections-seems to be working so far-worked with the paint colors for the living, kitchen, and bedrooms, worked with the hardware for the cabinets, and the couch...so to my shagrin, not sure if I can get my tattoo this year-oh well-I will have it someday...but we will have a pretty bathroom instead-I should take a pic of this thing-it is tiny-has a big ole cabinet sink, and a wall size mirror above it, which are both coming out-a pedestal sink and a nice smaller framed mirror will go up, it has one of the old cheap brasslike light fixtures which will be replaced with a more modern fixture w/ brushed nickel like finish, it has vertical green and cream striped wallpaper with various sized stripes and this linoleum that has huge squares of green and white...I can't wait to get it done!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Sounds wonderful Stacey...good way of coming to a design really...spend all the time doing short list and getting the project together without shopping stress...far better Stacey than a 'tatoo' lol

Now will DH be able to do most of the work or do you have to get a contractor? My cousin Doug in exchange for the work I did on the scoot top will put in a counter top and zinc for me once I pick them out..would have loved the pedastal zinc but washroom isn't very large and I do need the storage beneath in the counter...

How nice for you to look forward to this spring project..you have rather a new home don't you? regardless of new or old always something to change, to update isn't there...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Betty. It is pretty standard for here. it can be 60 - 70 one day, and the next will be low 30's. It hardly ever freezes here, but when it does, we will get a hard freezing rain for a few days! Maybe once every 3 -4 years, so I can't complain too bad! We still have to wait till about mid to late March, to start putting out new plants. Hope your feeling better soon.
Trisha love the new Santa. He is so pretty!

Love the bottle top crafts. So nice. I would never have thought to do something like that!

LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay, if it's mostly in the 60's then it's wonderful..would enjoy weather like that..not sure if it was because we've had such extreme cold weather that this morning as I got out of my car I could feel spring..maybe it's wishful thinking because they have a storm alert for tonight and tomorrow for this region..

Sitting here looking at plans for gardens, more walkways and roaming pathways so I've never done designing of a specific area, I'm more helter skelter don't like manicured more country looking so looking for a focal art piece to make...

Lordy was cleaning under the bed the other day in spare room and found that large 4' stained glass blue heron...he has to go out but needs water for the water feature so got to get my mind around where it will be and how I'll be alble to supply water to it...so much to keep me busy...

I've did 3 rows on my rag quilt this a.m. and will do more tonight, once it's done hey I'm free to take on something else...lol..joined a few 'swaps' that's always fun...

Pacifica, CA

morning all, thanks
shar so nice to see you post!

ruby what are you up to?
hi carol and vicki
bev how is scotty and powder doing
hi gilli and laura

betty, i have been so busy dh aunt she is a crafter this summer she wants to split a booth at a craft fair so i have to get busy and make things and am i exausted already! and to think this isnt till late summer/fall found a deal on ebay with bottle caps so im watching it have to wait till tomorrow at 6.30 pm to bid lol
getting myself in trouble with that darn site! hope you feeling better
well off to get ready for work..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Liz, couldn't we keep you bottle caps and ship them off? A craft booth, how much fun will that be..you also have so many antiques that you could do up as craft items and they'd sell I'm sure...

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Speaking of laundry, and I'd really rather not! I have to go across the street to do mine, and if I don't get to it pretty soon I'll have to have a ladder to get over it to go to the bathroom! Wish I had hookups for a w/d. I had brand new ones when I moved here. I hate to have to go out to do laundry! I'd rather have an old ringer washer, and hang them on a line!

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Anyone heard from Jesse?

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Thank you Liz, Scotty and powder doing fine. Gotta sit down and do my bills today. I hate that job. Oh! well has to be done. We have a very little sheen of ice over all this morning. Hated to see Rick go out on it. Hi all. Have a good day. HUGS BEV

Jeannine, looked over a lot of threads for her, haven't seen her post anywhere..wouldn't know how to find her ???

Bev, sure can understand how you must be worrying about him travelling in freezing rain...look at Powder, laying there so safe and content...did my bills on the 1st. almost everythingcomes out directly out of my account so not much banking..doesn't feel half as bad done that way..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Giving up eating, yep..back in the ladies room several times since lunch, mega stomach pain..wow...know they say it's nothing but they are not the ONE that has the nothing...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks Sharran.

Don’t know about you Betty, but I am tired of the cold…I got my snow …once that has happened it should all go away because it is time for Summer………

Laura and Sean live 2 miles East of me, and Shawn and Lisa live about two miles west of me……..in this photo if you look between the two houses (this is taken out my front window) you can see a water tower on the hill…..that is directly across the street from my son’s apartment.

Sorry your tummy still isn’t feeling well……I am still sniffling, but felling a bit better than I have been.

Hi Stacey….sounds like the bath will be beautiful.

Thanks LK, now I can start some fun characters!

The Heron sounds wonderful Betty, don’t forget pictures! I would be more likely to find an entire family of Dust Bunnies under my bed!

Morning Liz…Bev….Audrey…..Jeannine

We are in the 40’s with wind and rain today……typical Washington winter weather for a change…..some areas are supposed to get flood warnings…..at least we don’t have to worry about that.

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
Victoria Harbour, ON

That's close Trisha...nice to have family close by...look at the green trees, did you snap the photo today? so lush looking...what a pretty photo!

Dust Bunnies, well I've some of those as well..I'd probably have no cleaning at all if it weren't for Sailor and the kitties...but I'm sure if I look close enough I'd find them...

So funny, Sunday morning I'm watering the plants and of course if I stretch I'll JUST make 5'...never really clean anything, well almost, that is over 5' so up on a chair I was, looking all around to see what others see...oh/oh had some cleaning to do..Greg is 6'2" so there is a lot of cleaning in 1' 2" space...

think 1/2 of the dust bunnies are brought out from the animals going under the bed...kind of a dustmop...lol knew I had them for a reason....

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Betty you take care of that tummy! my Mom use to say toastandtea for a bad tummy. I always thought it was one thing cause it was one word!

Hope Cedric is waiting for me when I get home tonight. I have Red Hat tomorrow and going swimming for the first time this winter tomorrow night so we should have lots to do. I wonder, does Cedric like the water; does he have a suit? I know frogs like water but he is such a special frog...

Victoria Harbour, ON

You just might have to find him a bathing suit..he does have trunks in his suitcase which you could use...not sure the mucklucks he was wearing when he arrived to my house would be waterproof...oh now wouldn't those Red Hat ladies just go crazy over a good looking frog? (hmm better watch myself, we call the french 'frogs'..it's ok for me to do so as I'm one of them) so laughing...

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

hi all,

well guess what we had in our fernery? A SNAKE!!!!
first one ever, a copperhead and the council man couldnt catch it..soooo guess what is now gone???? the fernery :0(

yep, had it all pulled out... cant risk it with the grandchildren.. so we are going to slowly get bricks.. one by one if we have to... brick it all in and have plants in pots... so its back to square one! how sad, never mind.

at work at the moment so cant stay....

xxx

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Laura, copperheads are deadly aren't they??? much the same as our rattlesnakes...yuk..how frightened you must have been...what is a fernery? is it similar to a sunroom? deck? can't be too careful..you must be devastated....here you are at work and we (meaning I) ready for bed...

never fails does it..always something..keep that smile regardless of what's happening..helps you feel better....

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, copperheads can be as deadly as rattlesnakes, I think! That's 2 of the 4 poisonous snakes we have in America! The other 2 are the coral snake ane the cottonmouth. I don't want to run up on either one!
Talked to Lisa tonight. They've put her on insulin now, not just the pills. She tries, most of the time, but it's really hard for her. She's still not feeling much better. They said her eardrum had burst, but it could heal on its own.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

WE have never done anything here other than little things, so this will be our first project:) We will have some problems switching sinks as we have never done anything like thins and I am a little confused as to where the shut off valves go with a pedestal sink, but I am sure I can find someone on DG that knows;)

Here is a pic of the bathroom-DH says when he goes #1, the wall paper gives him vertigo!!LOL

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Tink, when you install a pedestal where you have had a cabinet be sure to double check the waterline is going to be in the right place. I couldn't put pedestals in here because they would fit right. Trust me, if I can tear out an old cabinet and install a new one with sink, you and hubby can also!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Stacey, you forgot the picture.
Good night everyone. Betty, I hope your tummy settles down soon. Maybe some 7 up?

Betty,

Mint tea is an old remedy for upset stomach. So is Ginger tea--I think....

Are you keeping a journal of WHAT you ate when your stomach does this? You know it has to be a reaction/allergy to something....a food or an ingredient in the food....

Have you tried NOT eating fast food for a month, maybe, and seeing if your own cooked food also does this to you? You just need to be a little more pro active in this matter--as miserable as you feel with all the bloating....yes????

G.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, can't gab this a.m. as I'm in a rush, woke up and walked in some goooooo...Sailor woke me up about midnight and wanted out, she always stays nearby, went to find her 2 or 3 times as it was so cold, she was waiting for me nearer to 1:30..well guess she might have got into garbage because she was sick several places..what gets me is with the entire house NOT having rugs and only 1 scatter rug under coffee table why do they have to be sick theree...enough to turn you tummy if it wasn't already turned..lol

Audrey, does that mean that Lisa will no longer have hearing in that ear seeing as the drum bursted? good thing though she'll not need surgery...prayers answered!

Marion you undertook such a project...I'm proud of you girl...

Gita am keeping a journal..

Stacey, going to check the link when I arrive at the office...

Janice do you have guests today?

Waving to all others...

Big storm in Toronto, aren't I pleased that I'm only travelling to Barrie..storms don't bother me as much as freezing rain...Bev, how did Rick make out yesterday, o.k.

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Be careful out there Betty.
I drove here to look after my grandaughter. ..very slow and and careful drive..
I left about 20 minutes earlier than usual...Not too much traffic at 6:45 am.

Hope you are feeling better today..what a mystery these tummy problems are for you.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

No Cedric! I am bummed. I was hoping to show him off to the Red Hat ladies but we only meet once a month and today is it. So that is out. I am going to St. Louis for my Dad's 101 birthday later this month but I think that is past the time I have with Cedric. He is going to be so bored...nothing going on now for a while.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

No, Betty, it should heal fine. Deafness runs in my family, though, my mother and her father were both almost totally deaf, and I'm losing a little of mine. She's had ear trouble since she was a little girl.
Have to see a podiatrisst this morning, I dread it. Never been to one. Ingrown toenails that I've had all my life, but I can't take care of them any more. Wish me luck!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Morning Ya'll!!!

Yes, power was only out for about an hour and yes, we do have sanders, it's 30% salt 70% sand mixture but it only does so much. If the news says, "Don't go out on the roads unless you have to" I don't go.

Betty, there is a stomach flu going around, my mom had it, no fever or anything like that, just a lot of diarehia and stomach pain. She went to the dr. once and ER once, they both told her it's a stomach flu that's taking 7 to 10 days to get over. The ER dr said it's an epidemic and her husband said all of the cold/flu medicines are gone off of shelves. I went to Target yesterday and all of the medicines are gone here too, so it must be bad.

I've been thinking about Jesse too, hope everything's alright...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Got to work but a few minutes ago, blizzard going on out there, to make matters worse they are calling to 'freezing rain'..oh well, might clear up by the time I'm ready for home...

How very sad I was to hear of the death of Balvanie, what a talented and caring man he was...his projects in stained glass were beyond belief...thanks Liz for letting me know...

Crissy much the same kind of flu is going around here...best be taking vitamin 'c' everyone...

Paul had to be in the city early this a.m. for a court appearance re a client only to be told when he got there that is had been changed..imagine...he was at hospital yesterday and he has walking pneumonia..took all he had to drive in the weather only to be told the Trustee and client knew yesterday it was cancelled, as you can imagine he's not a happy camper...as well, he has blood when coughing so the doctor wanted him in for tests today but he said they'd have to wait because of this court case..let's hope he can book it in now for later today....

Bev, ingrown toenails hurt so it can only be a help getting them looked after although you probably don't think so...hope you are not travelling in bad weather...

Janice I'm sorry Cedric and Bailey did not arrive..the 2 packages were sent out same day as well as a few other parcels, all but this one have arrived...I'm sure you'll have them doing something..maybe even having a rest will be fun for them...not to worry...101 wow..you have longevity in your family..my paternal grandmother died at 99 and my maternal grandmother died at 36 or 37...

Carol, hear this storm is moving you way as well..was it snow or freezing rain that was slowing everyone down in your area?
Are you sitting having coffee at the table look out at your gardens wishing for spring? lol ...
