All were having fun with Greg..he's a 'ski-doo' person through and through..my goodness he's dressed to the hilt all winter and sometimes in the summer with clothing from 'ski-doo'..a cake was made and they put a kawasaki snowmachine on it...because he broke down, Dan took icing, put green food coloring in it to look like radiator fluid and set it beside the snowmobile...everyone was in laughter as you can tell...
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #77
Saying hello to 'grandma' and Aunt Marguerite...
Telling you it's a challenge, she tries her very best NOT to talk to me and I just find a subject and 'gab/gab/gab'..actually she responded a little more than usual last night...Marguerite, Roger's sister who lives with her asked me to drop in when I'm in Midland to visit...RIGHT!
I would say throughout the evening downstairs and upstairs there would be about 80 people who came to celebrate...
He and Melanie had gone to the Community Center here in town on New Years' Eve...Greg does not drink, never has but Melanie enjoys a good time...it was so funny to go to the grocery store and find a photo of her and friends bringing in the new year on front cover...lol..we told her we should have bought dozens of the newsletter and had her autograph them...lol
If you look on the side of the newsletter you will see notes of what is on the inside..notation :
Pattipalo attracts 145
Larry and Janice forgo Christmas gifts to each other...each and every Christmas they put on a brunch at the Canadian Legion for all who might be alone or who just want to drop in and visit with friends...quite an undertaking..Greg and family also go and help out..it's a meal fit for a king and queen...
Larry on New Years' Day when we had supper together said it always 'makes' his Christmas..it's true sharing with others...
Here is Larry and Janice at Greg's on New Years Day...they are at the party but didn't have photo of both together...here we were celebrating Bullwinkle and the lads visiting..
Thanks for joining me at the party..lol...off for another coffee and will sew for awhile..already 1 load of laundry done, need to vacuum and take tree down in the basement and all is in order..
Suzanne was telling me our work day tomorrow will be light..we're having a staff Christmas luncheon at the Mandarin (chinese buffet restaurant) then a staff meeting to follow..guys will drive down from the city...so there will go Monday...
Must say if I had many more days off I'd be retiring again..kind of enjoying this....Jeff said I ought not to, said it's doing me good to get out each day, what else would I be doing...E X C U S E me...what would I be doing..I'd never stop...lol...well maybe I would when I wouldn't have that generous weekly allowance I give myself..lol
Talk later...would love to hear about your day!
Should have posted this New Year's Day....never too late:
Where did the year go?
Suddenly it is December ......again - and we realize that with giant strides we started in January and within a blink of an eye, 2008 is on its back!
A big "Thank You" to each and everyone of you, for the huge impact you had on my life this year. Especially for all the support on the threads, the d-mails and e-mails I received.......without you, I'm sure that 2008 would have been extremely different.
From my side I wish you all the best for 2009..thoughts filled with Loving Wishes and Beautiful Thoughts.
May 2009 mark the beginning of a Tidal Wave of Love, Happiness and Bright Futures.
And to those who need someone special, may you find that true love.
To those who need money, may your finances overflow
To those who need caring, may you find a good heart
To those who need friends, I am still here for you .
To those who need life, may you find GOD .
Thanks for being MY friend!!
You both look so beautiful Carol...when you say Oscar themed..what in particular do they do..sounds like quite a hotel to put on such extravagant events...must have been quite a place to work because you put in many years of service...
Don't think I ever heard of a hotel doing so much....
Betty..thank you...
the decorations were all about Hollywood and movies and the employees were said to be the Oscar winners..
The centrepiece on the tables was an Oscar..there were lots of photos of movie stars decorating the walls...lots of gold and glamour..
This big party is instead of the usual Christmas Party..it is always held in Jan. after all the business of the Christmas season at the hotel.
Yes..it was a great place to work. there is also an annual picnic in the summer..and other smaller events throughout the year for the employees.
My mom's surgery was pain threatening. She couldn't walk, sit, stand, or lay down. Hopefully this has relieved some of that chronic pain.
Betty you are so sweet, thank you so much, and back atcha!
Love the pics, I love seeing pictures of family and people that are discussed often, helps for recognition in chat.
My dad's friend used to work for Holiday Inn Hotels and when they changed hands, or whatever happened there, the hotel was sold. He loved working for Holiday Inn.
That is so beautiful!
So very very cold here today...can't seem to warm up, got thermostat up, upstairs and downstairs fireplaces on and micro furnace in craft room..still chilled so have a feeling I just might be coming down with something, guess my second clue is still in jammies on the couch covered up..snug as a bug..
Greg and Melanie wanted me to go out for brunch but just wasn't up to it...Darlene just called to say they would be painting tomorrow so downstairs I am tidying up a little..not very messy..just a few boxes in entrance that need to go to back shed...maybe before the day ends they'll get there if not I'll move them aside as not to have everyone trip in them...
Back to the couch I go..hey Gita...I'm relaxing...lol
Betty-maybe your body is just telling you that your super energeizer bunny rate has taken it's toll and you need a veg day to recharge:)
I think it has Stacey...tomorrow's a work day (or is it a rest day) this work/non work at work lol is confusing right?
Moving around, just put my frozen stuffed pepper in micro, potato and carrots cooking...back to sewing squares so coming alive again...though in slow/slow motion..kind of nice isn't it?
How are you feeling Stacey, any better?
Hmmmm....Betty!
Being tired is OK---and relaxing is good for the Soul! NO shouldas--couldas--musthaves.....
You certainly deserve all of these. Glad you are aware of when these things come around........just hope you follow the "vibes"......
YES! I get the reference of WHY you are telling me all this.......You ARE human..and NOT a robot....You cannot go on and on and on.....I hope you also realize this.....
Rest is good! Being tired is the way your body tells you need rest......AMEN!
Gita
Gita you are tooo cute...
Well it's off the couch and into bed..had a bit of freezing rain..hard to imagine when it's been this cold..
Watched a movie called Cardiac or something, kept me interested all the way through, kept jumping from childhood to adulthood and really didn't get it down pat..odd ending as well .. don't you just hate it when that happens....
Judy just called, so nice to hear from her...she and family arrived safely home earlier today..she's loads to tell you and a fishing story she's promised us..am sure she'll have us in stitches...so look forward to her post...
Off to bed...
Good lord willing, we'll talk tomorrow...
Meant to say to Janice, hope Cedric and Bailey are waiting for you to pick them up tomorrow...
Waving to all...
How does it go....
Night night
Sleep tight
And don't let the bed bugs bite!
LOL Gave me a flashback of when I was a child and my grandparents were both alive and I was spending the night with them. I loved that bed.
Dang I miss my grandparents.
Betty-I am feeling OK as far as my cold and such, it is everything else that seems to drain me about an hour after I get up...
Can understand that Stacey..new year ahead, praying it all comes together for you...as usual we're both up early, work week starts...once I'm there and a few days into it I'll be fine, right now I'm asking myself if I should not be retired....lol
Crissy, my grandparents used to say same...infact when the boys are here and off to bed, I tuck them in with same saying...wonder how long parents/grandparents have been saying same and where it came from..might be someone who had bedbugs right..lol
Well best get the animals fed, find a craft to bring to work...hard day at the office.. restful one for sure...
Hope someone is around to keep me company today....could it be you?
Not me-boss is due in about 15 mins-after that not one ounce of fun to be had until I am off for the day:(
Odd start to my morning...last evening we had freezing rain, was up early so tidied any mess there might have been and even got some sewing done, waited until 8:00 a.m. still no meeting time so drove in on my own, called Suzanne's cel. to let her know I'd done so, she had already talked to Paul who is sick in bed with flu and said we'd come in a little later due to icy roads..so here I was, on time, when I could have gotten an extra hour..lol
Now we've all new systems..but mine is not operational..have a call into Jeff (my youngest) to see what can be done so I can send/receive e-mails and book appts.
So our staff meeting and Christmas lunch has been cancelled...probably my worse of today...
Best of today, purchased my first garden magazine...Flower Gardens...45 can-do gardens from shad to tropical..general info on climbers/hydrangeas and patio pots...so along with a panel I've brought in to paint in oils and my magazine, I'm set for today...lol
Sitting here watching light flurries and trees swaying...not to amount to much ...
Maybe having you at work early alone would help to easy the shock of going back to work. I have to go in tomorrow after 2 1/2 wks off and I DON'T WANNA! I have been sleeping late and tomorrow is 7:0 am (late for Betty), I have been sewing and reading and just doing nothing and I will miss it lots. Boy I wish I could quit!
Not that I don't work with the best people in the world; I do. And they are flexible with my times off and working three days a week, but I just don't want to WORK any more. Want to stay at home in my jammies and do anything I want to do.
Soon maybe..
morning all,
hope you all had a great weekend..
judy come out to play lol nice to yap
betty, you have been a busy bee lately
carol, enjoyed the photo's looks like a fun event
hello to everyone
Janice that 2 1/2 weeks you and I had off just about did it..convinced me that I want to be home...am sure though as the days go by and Thrusday when I get that weekly paycheck I can splurge I'll soon start to adapt..at least for a year or so..because of the new location if business doesn't do well I'll offer to take early retirement 'AGAIN'...lol..so yes, had to put my favorite p.j.'s away ..boo hoo how much longer Janice did you say you had to work?
Waving Liz, have missed you...what have you been up to of late...busy? How did you survive the Christmas and New Year's festivities??? Do you slow down at this time of year?
H E L L O Everyone!!
Wishing you all the Happiest of New Years. I welcomed 2009 in Florida.
Did you all miss me??
OH MY Gosh, a ton of catching up to do!
Wonderhug!! So good to see you in the New Year. I like that the smile page!
Also, Was wonderful to see Shar post, my goodness Ethan is getting so big...Yep the resemblance is remarkable!...I just love lil curlytop Sharon!!
Betty, My goodness, I am exhausted all over again, LOL...need another vacation from all you have done..WOW. I do love your pretty wall paper! Nice find for 5 bucks.
Crissy, LOL, I got the same crafters basket for Christmas! packed it up and took it with me to florida! Great minds think alike, heheh.
Oh Gita, What a wonderful desk!!
Janice, bummer you got to go back to work...I hope soon you'll be able to take the time off so you can enjoy...lots of lesuring in your jammies.
Trisha, LOl, I am thinking to leave my decorations up for another week. We didn't get them up till later and then we went to florida, so i think I like to look at them for a bit. LOL, since i am the one to undecorate...I'll just take my time.
HI LIZ!! OH my gosh, Betty and all, Liz is a life savor!! She kept me sane on the very long ride to and from Florida...Oh good heavens thought i was gonna die on more then one occasion!...People are insane on the highway, including my husband who thinks it fun to drive 80- miles an hour through mountains, steep hills, rain, fog...it is no suprise I was placed in the back so to keep eyes off the road. Motion was felt at every curve, heart stopped at every break...Yikes, Thank God I am home!!
Well here is some BIG, BIG news...well told Betty and Liz but now I can announce it to the rest of you.
I, me..QUIT smoking. December 31 11:55 smoked my last one. Say a prayer everyday to guide me through. So far so good! Julia, removed all the ashtrays from the house and has been going outside to smoke. needless to say everyone here is thrilled.
OK, got to switch loads so will come back in a bit and tell you about my very relaxing trip...LOL, with the exception of the ride.
Know you have a fishing story to tell us Judy, waiting, waiting patiently...
Hey Judy!
You go Girl!
Hooray for you..I feel so much better since I quit smoking ..(again LOL)
I haven't had a cig since Sept...
There are times when you will want one..but just take a deep breath..and let it out slowly.
I was looking after my grandaughters before school today..both of them said they didn't want to go back to school, after having all that time off.
But soon everyone will be back in their routines.
Judy and Carol congratulations!! I quit about 12 years ago.....the best thing I have ever done.
My cold is getting better.......the snow we got last night is melted and we are due for more rain.
Bad news/Good news. Laura and Sean rent their house right now.....they just got notice that they have to move by March as the owners are being foreclosed on.....they went through this once during the summer and the Agency said the owners were getting it worked out and convinced them to sign another years lease. So the way I look at it the Real Estate Agency is responsible for either working it out so they can buy the house CHEAP, or finding them another place and waiving the rental deposit as they do not have the funds right now. The good news is they really need to get either this house or another at a lesser cost. They had a housemate when they moved in here......the housemate leaving left them paying more than they can really afford. Say a prayer that it all works out well for them.
In the short term they just need to be able to get the exhaust repaired on their car so they can drive it....I am taxi in the meantime. So I need to leave right now to get Sean to work on time. Talk to you later.
You've done well Carol...my grandsons were all saying same and so was their grandmother...but sitting here reading the gardening magazine, thinking of your gardens and mine...OMG I've so much more to do now that I've seen yours...guess they'll all be under snow for about another 2 1/2 months at least..lol...
when do you go back to swimming and square dancing? would imagine all the facilities are up and running...girls painting at my house started today, for me, I'll put off my winter session till at least the beginning of Feb. get me back into the routine...
Almost time for lunch..my nieces went shopping and brought their pizza's in..omg it smells yummy but they've both put it into garbage and went back out for something else..said it was terrible...not sure where Suzanne and I will end up... lol...but I am awfully hungry...
Talked to Sharon, her daughter Rhonda apparently came in, packed her belonging and was getting the bus to move here to Barrie with her boyfriends mom..not sure how long that will last... hard to believe, here she's raised by a family with mega money, want for nothing, given everything, trips galore etc/etc and leaving it to live in a fairy tale world...she's 9 weeks pregnant..her phychologist said she really should not have the child ... hmmm sure a hard place to be in...
Trisha sure hope it's that the realtor is trying to get it for them based on rental they've paid...nothing worse than getting a notice to move when you are quite comfy in living where you are...
Did you ever get your window replaced? Glad the cold it passing...
Everyone seems to be catching that bad flu strain in our area..Paul today is running such a high fever, can barely stand to be out of bed..his wife had it over the holidays...other friends as well were in bed with it for several days..best he stay home and not pass it around...
Bill cut an nice Plexiglass replacement and taped it in my window until we can afford to get the motor replaced. It works well for keeping out the cold and rain, and you really have to look to tell it isn't the real window....at least I stay warm and dry. And right now we are getting a bit of sun for a change....won't last long......
Bill is back with the car so have to run or Sean is going to be late for work...
Thank you!
Carol, so funny...I actually though about you while I was smoking last ciggie.
Couldn't remember how long it's been for you so i am glad you said. Thats a good long time, I am proud of you.
I am really hoping this works for me...LOL, I am real tired of hacking in the AM...and breathing has become a chore...So, I figure the best thing for me to do is quit...the problem will be staying quit! Thanks for the advise..I will be doing alot of slow breathing.
Now, I sure enjoyed your Red carpet party. How wonderful that you are included in the festivities. Looks like you all had a wonderful time.
Trisha, wow..12 years a long time - good for you, My dh quit about 20 years ago...Oh my, thats a real drag. I sure hope they can find housing thats affordable. Well, lets hope they can afford the house they are in, especially if they like it there. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers something good will happen...You know, if they are paying alot of rent, usually it's about the same as a mortgage payment! Is there anyway they can find out how much the forclosure is? Usually it's only for what is left of the payment. Maybe it's nice and low they can assume the payments.
Betty, I enjoyed Gregs birthday party. You are right, they do make really fun cakes...I love that tiny snowmobile!! Did he get his machine fixed?
...
So as you know, We drove to Florida. On the way, we stopped in Elizabethtown KY. Up and on the road by 7in the AM...
I have been chatting with Deborah for quite a while. She Lives in Cordele GA. LOL it is right on the way to Florida. You can actually see the Highway from her sunroom! So, when I found out just how close she was, first asked Steve if we can stop and say Hello to Deborah, from Sweet Interruption Thread...Gave him the all the particulars and and when he agreed, I quick called Deborah and asked if we could meet. Well, not only did she want to meet me, she invited us to Stay at her home!! My goodness, she is an excellent cook.
We were stuffed...I was excited because Marion was also going to go meet Deborah. Was a big bummer though, as the day came, her knee decided to flare up making driving impossible...She instructed Deborah to give me a big hug. So I was given a big hug from Marion, a big hug from Liz and a big hug from Deborah!! Of course you all know how much I love hugs...And finally being able to give her a hug was awsom. We chatted well into the night. Was as if we had know eachother for ages. And Our DH's Larry and Steve got along marvously! I wish I had taken a photo of them chatting, lol never thought about it...
LOL, my family was a bit nervous about staying at "strangers" house, lol I said Deborah is no stranger, I've been talking with her for a long time...I said trust me you will love her. I was right, they loved Deborah and Larry, their 2 dogs and kitty.
Well, I think the highlight for the kids, was Deborah, handed jacob the keys to her garden (golf) cart!! Oh he was just in his glory.
Deborah, has a huge pond, and all i could think was he was going to drive into it! Just paranoid mom here. LOL...Deborah assured me he would be ok...LOL, I was releived when he ran out of gas!
