۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞ 80

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Popping in for a quick hello. Was 3 threads behind - talk about speed reading! DBIL and DSIL got here Friday night and it's been hard to spend time here since then. They will be here until after the first of the year. Having sistah withdrawals ....... DSIL and I did some serious power shopping yesterday from 9:30am until 5:00pm. Got all the names crossed off my list. Yeah! Today I stayed home and wrapped gifts nonstop until 1:30pm then starting digging out the dining room table from under the wrapping and sewing mess. I'm pooped, but still need to figure out how many we are having for Christmas lunch and make my shopping list for tomorrow. I think we are having 13. We had a another bout of freezing rain this morning. It came down fast just at morning rush hour. The news this evening said there were 3 fatalities and 200 accidents BEFORE 10:00am this morning. Thank goodness the temps are rising.

Donna, bless you for being there for the girls. The mere fact that they can talk to you and you believe them will help them deal with things emotionally in the future. Sounds like you and Max on headed in the right direction and they will be with you soon.

BJ, how have you been feeling? Didn't see any posts about feeling sick but was speed reading. Hope you continue to feel well.

Marion, 3 of the fabrics were out of stock so subtract 18 from 66 and that's ..... 48 yards? They were delivered today. It was a great deal. Now to decide what to do with them! The stocking you made LK was so pretty. No doubt you did the quilting in the center. Here's something that won't surprise you - I've noticed I'm feeling resentful for not being able to sew the past few days. The holidays, having guests, and needing the dining room table require the projects to be put away. That doesn't sound healthy does it? LOL!

Brenda, pool tournement? A spectator or contender? And what do you do at a Winter Solstice party? Sounds like fun.

Sistahs, I miss you all and am thinking of you. Just not enough hours in the day to do all I'd like to do including chatting with you all. If I don't have an opportunity to visit again before Christmas, I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas eve and Christmas day. Must grocery shop and cook tomorrow, set up the extra table and set the table, then we will have dinner at DFIL's tomorrow night with DBIL and DSIL then open stockings (DSIL always brings stockings stuffed with goodies and even the grown ups look forward to them). Christmas morning they will come here to open gifts plus two Dstep-sons and one fiance'. At lunch time my DD, brother and nephew, and two cousins will join us. We will open gifts with them after lunch. Then Debra crashes - need some rest before the 3 adult children of DBIL and DSIL arrive Friday afternoon with their 5 children (who will be staying at our house until Tuesday). It's been nice knowing you ...... if you don't hear from me by Valentines Day just contact the local mental hospital. I'll be vacationing there ..... LOL! MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

Donna, the bunk beds are great! Still holding those girls in my heart, obviously they need to be with you. Jaye, as we now live in a very small town, shopping is difficult... the next town is just 10 miles away, but also small and with limited options. I am usually a very good internet shopper, but DH Tony was a bit difficult this year with not giving me any good ideas, and then presenting me with a list of items that cannot get here this year (some motorcycle clothing that isn't even available in the U.S. yet... and no time to get it here from Europe!). I'm sure this is his way of insuring that I don't go overboard this year... in the past we have had "Big" Christmases, this year we have downsized everything including the holiday budget. So, I had to scramble to find some of what he wanted, and got a bonus (and inexpensive) gift for him that I know he'll love and I hadn't thought of. Can't tell you now, just in case he decides to read here... I'll tell you after he opens it. It was clearly a case of "Divine Inspiration", or "Gentle Divine Intervention", as I am known to appreciate in advance... so I'm very happy! The roads cleared and no more snow today, so it was good!

DH is worried about his son in England who is struggling financially (he's 26-ish), and we've always been able to help, but not now... we just don't have it. I think it's a bit demoralizing for Tony to not be able to do everything he's always been able to... he is very generous and it is hard for him to not do all he normally does. Well, for me, too. This year has really been an adjustment in more ways than any of you know, but I know we are not alone, and I trust we all find strength in each other and our faith. To all of you who have circumstances different and more difficult than you started 2008 with, I send you my love, understanding, and an extra dose of faith and optimism. And I'll be so appreciative if you send it right back at me! To those of you faced with challenges with your health, I send you strength, and love, new friendship, healing, and very good energy. It is good to be able to reach out to others who truly care about you. Who knew that the internet would bring so many people together?!

I know Debra has seen this, but I don't think the rest of you have... here is a link to a music video my son Phillip did last year, I find it very touching. He did this as a gift to the organization mentioned, we are not affiliated with it other than I have contributed to them in the past (so I hope this is not seen as a solicitation... it is not meant to be). I thought you might enjoy it!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Debra dont go insane with out us okay>> We will be here when you get time to pop in..

Brenda that video is beautiful! Made me tear up watching it.. Really makes you think though if every person just does one small thing look at the difference it makes.. Tell your DH that its okay.. My mom felt the same way this year when she wasnt able to help us.. She stood by and did what she could but told me that i twas time for us to get tough and not to say no.. I have always been able and very stron gin what I believe in but it took everything we went through this year to make me realize that when you have family everything else will go into place if you dont give up..

Just goes to show how far kindness goes.. My family has benifited in more ways than you all will ever know from meeting everyone here.. ..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hello everyone. I am here to say good night.
I went to physical therapy today, to get an eval, for my feet. I start Monday, for the next 4 weeks.
Then I came home, made supper, and spent the night with hubby wrapping gifts! Looks like we are going to San Antonio, to spend the day with my son. His car broke down, so he can't come this way.
We will leave here Christmas morning, have Christmas dinner there. Spend the night, and come home Friday. I don't have to cook, but we have to drive for 3 hours each way!
Hope you all have a great Christmas, and safe travels!

LK

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Night all....trying to get everything done for our Christmas in the morning with my side of the family as Laura and Sean plan to drive to Port Angeles to be with his family for Christmas Day. I am very concerned about the weather and road conditions for their trip....please everyone say a prayer for their safe travel as well as our other Sistahs who are traveling for the holidays.

Will check in tomorrow afternoon.....

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

GREAT JOB Donna... You did wonderful...

I too am going to be really missing for the next couple days... will be back to normal soon, I suppose... but you know how things get around this time of year...

Night all... everyone take care if you're going to be on the road...
But Mostly... Have a very Merry Christmas, and I hope all your wishes come true this year. Love you all.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Debra, just make sure the mental hospital has enough beds for all of us!! When one sistah checks in, the rest of us will keep her company. Right ladies?

Brenda, it's a tough year for the whole village. You both might not be able to help in financial matters, but you have given Tony's son the most priceless gift of all and that is love.
Thank you so much for sharing the video, it is well produced and the song should be promoted by the big broadcast networks.. but unfortunately, those big networks don't believe in giving free time to charity. Kel says, Phillip is waaaaaaaay better than some AI finalists!!

Can't believe you've never attempted clay Donna!! That is fantastic!! You should be giving art lessons!! What next?
I don't think I can sculpt nor carve.. envy my sistahs who do so effortlessly!

Phyllis, did you get the machine?

BJ.. you and Don have a wonderful, blessed Christmas too.

Well I'm off to bed, and will definitely say a special prayer for Laura and our sistahs that will be travelling.

See y'all tomorrow.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Please be safe all of you who will be driving in iffy weather.

Donna...Fabulous job!! You go girl!

I have some bad news and we need your prayers big time. Our sistah, Kathy called me last night and finally admitted to me why she hasn't been on here and hasn't been chatting with us. She found a lump in her breast two weeks ago and has kept that to herself all this time. I asked her why she hadn't told anyone and she said she didn't want to ruin Mike's Christmas. Yesterday she said it felt like it had changed so she decided she better tell him. She called the Drs ofc at 8:30 and was in the office at 9:00. The Dr sent her to the hospital for a mammogram and then on for a CT scan (if not that then something comparable) and now she has an appointment with a surgeon on New Year's eve. She gave me permission to tell you all, so please add her to your prayer list. I feel so helpless....I wish I could do something more.

Donna-that bird is awesome!! Great Job!!

Audrey-thanks for the Poem

Aunt Cookie-how did you get pics like that of Jaye??-I about peed myself over those laughing so hard!!

Tante Jaye-Tell Uncle Kel I think we really are related-Mexican is my FAVE too!! And something from Ebay?? I will keep an eye out...

Cindy-I know it is expensive, but when we lived in San Jose we got fleas real bad (from all the ducks I thnk) and we started using the expensive flea stuff-Advantage I think-and it WORKS!!! We have not had 1 flea in over 3 years...

Darlene-looks like you made mom very happy:)

BJ-that was sweet of you to make the quilts for the kids!!

MORNING TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I talked with her last night for about an hour and a half too and she told me the same thing-I told her to calm down-once they do a biopsy to see if it is malignant or benign, then we can cross that bridge together-all of us......there is no need for her to stress about it until she knows-she would worry herself sick...so send her positive healing thoughts...

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm still up, last load of laundry is just about done, DH has been asleep for hours, but since I don't drive I'd prefer to get as much done before I go to bed as possible. It's snowing again, I really hope we can make it up to Port Angeles safely. If we can go up I'll be gone until 26/27th depending on when I get on. I wanted to show this off before I left though; other than a lot of the frosting dripping down the middle I'm quite proud of it.

Thanks for letting us know, Joyce. Kathy will be in my thoughts and prayers. Be sure to let her know we are here for her. Will be keeping all those traveling, lonely, depressed, and stressed in my prayers also.

Joyce, give Kathy my love! Tell her it's probably fibrocystic disease, I went through the same scare, and that was before I went into the "milk cow" stage! AND, if it's not, we're still here for her!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Wow lots going on.
Donna, that bird is beautiful. Keep up the great work!
Trisha, that cake looks so yummy! Lots of work went into that one. I'm passing my plate asking for a piece please?
Phyllis, let us know how the new machine works out please. Waiting to see your finished quilt.

Kathy, please keep us posted to the progress of your surgery. Please know that we really miss you and worry when your not posting! Thoughts and prayers going your way. I think we have all had a scare like this, and I told my husband, hey, I just look at it as a free boob job, if that is what it comes down to. LOL Gotta keep the Faith too! He does help so much.

Aw LK-you sweet little puddin you;)

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I have insomnia now. :o( I think it's a side effect of my sleeping medication that I take most nights, when I don't take it I have insomnia and it's too late to take it now; either that or I have insomnia, but the medication lets me think I don't.

Stacey, thanks, I really liked the idea.

Linda, it was a bit of work, but it's what I'm doing for my Grandmother this year, or at least right now; so you'll have to ask her for a piece. I'll pass you some frosted sugar cookies though.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Laura, beautiful wreath and I bet it's yummy too! Please be safe on your trip and get some sleep girl!!

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers for Kathy, I know she appreciates it.

Well, time to get the brisket on for it's first cooking. No rush today, am very thankful for that.

Great picture Debra...are you the one on the left???? ^_^

Thanks for the wishes LK, same right back at ya!

Audrey, have fun with your family and be safe!
