Geez, I was typing and you went and made a new room, LOL
I haven't been feeling to chipper, I think I have the stomache flu. Woke up at 10:30 and had to run for the bathroom. No sooner got back to sleep then back to bathroom at 12:00. I still have to finish Taylor's pj top and clean house.

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

WOW, am I first? I got the bestest package in the mail yesterday! I had all the things to make my sewing easier; a seam ripper, new needles beewax for my thread and something to help me keep from loosing my needles. The best was a bobbin box for all those loose bobbins running around in my drawer.
Thank you, thank you Darlinmoma, I love them all! Was this just Christmas are were you my 2009 swap buddy? Either way Ithank you for the thoughtfulness.

Well, I was first when I started typing !

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wish I have Phyllis' energy to fix more than one kind of beverage this morning. Oh well, hope a hot pot of coffee will do. There are croissants and hot biscuits, with real butter and a jar of marmalade for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Awww Cindy.. no fun to be ill too soon before Christmas! Reach out for Pedialyte when you're losing fluids.

Donna, it must be frustrating for you and Max that the twins are so far away. You both use your heads and challenge everything legally, don't use raw emotions for the sake of the girls. I have faith that all will be set right.

Terri, I have an old mechanical Kenmore, bought in 1985, made by Elna that still keeps on going! It has a slant shank, and all the 28 cams are still working. Just too heavy for me to lug around. I wish the newer machines have a wide throat like this machine.

I'm ready for Christmas to be over! If not for the kids.. yep LK, we have adopted about 2 dozens kids this year.. gift wise!! Kel loves playing Uncle to Santa :D One year, when one of the toy stores was closing down, we filled up the back of the truck with toys, and surprised kids in town. Just to see their faces lit up..

Janice, there's another tool I can't do without. The "Sidewinder". It's so convenient for bobbin threading without using your sewing machine. Lucky you, and Darlene's not your swap buddy!! She's so kind to be thinking of you!

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Well, that is even better; to get a "just because it's Christmas" present. Oh, boy marmalade, pass some please with anything!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

LK, can you post your Teeny Tiny Mice recipe here, please? Thanks!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

LK we are here.. Lots left to do for Christmas but we are managing..

Cindy on your response on previous thread on the twins.. I dont KNOW there are drus in the house but I can almost guarentee it.. I would think with the things that are happening it should be enough but with the state you never know. Found out that the STEP DAD is taking the girls With him to REPO CARS.. NOw tell me thats safe... 16 people in the house 3- bedroom.. There are so many factors that I myself if in the field would have yanked them out of there a long time ago.. The man that they are told they have to call dad was ordered by the state not to be alone with them due to his previous abuse charges of his own kids but he is taking them to repo... The more I talk to them the more I write down.. They are begging to come here and live even though we havent been allowed to see them in 5 years.. They call me mom and tell me they love me.. It breaks my heart...

Janice I think with the letter included its your 2009 swap box.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Janice and Cindy.
Janice you got a very nice package there. Merry Christmas to you!

Cindy, so sorry to hear your not feeling well. Did you eat something that did not agree with you? Sorry for the pun, but I do hope it "passes"!! LOL

Well, I am still waiting on the delivery of my 2009 gift. It went out last Monday, but I think the bad weather is slowing it down, and the Christmas rush! It will get there, just late I guess! (sigh)
It is going North! Does that help you any???

Ladies be good, and stay warm.

Marion, are you back home yet. I think you said 2 days you would be gone. Will you be home for Christmas?

Guess I can make coffee or tea for everyone. Grab a cup, and I will meet you on the comfy sofa!

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Janice, this group here I know has the most generous, kind hearted, craftiest ladies in the whole DG!
Can't believe this started in June, and we're now in room 80. Yep, we're chatty alright!!

Jaye Im keeping my head on straight and so is Max.. No worries I know getting mad with the state wont help so I will push using any resoure we can.. I bet that Christmas was a great one with all the kids in town.. That is what we would love to do someday..

Cindy hope yu are feeling better before Christmas...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

OMG!! What idiot will risk kids on a dangerous job like that???? Repos?? Have you watched the show "Repo Man"? They were just talking of angry owners who would pull out their weapons against them and having to call on police for help. Donna, just that is enough to get him on children endangerment!!!!!!!!!!!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Wow this thread only started in June? Goes to show you good people flock together...

LK your package probably is sitting in the post office awaiting delivery.. BJ sent me a pakage that took 10 days going priority mail..

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Jaye Im hinking so too. The girls say they are out doing it with him all the time and their mom makes them go.. I have a friend here locally who is a repo man and he carries a gun with him because he has been shot at all the time. Grrr

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oooh that sets my blood curdling!!!!!!!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You're so kind Janice, and you must include the adjective "crazy" too!! Ehem.. you know in that category, who's the head (GRIN)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

How old are the girls. Here in Texas, a child can legally choose which parent they want to live with, at the age of 13. Check with an attorney there. They should be able to help you out! Also, make sure someone calls child protective services right away, Get them involved! Tell them the girls are in danger!!!

Linda

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

LK the girls are 10.. Will be 11 on April 1st..

The phone call has been made already and we are waiting for a call back.. As well as a call to a detective that Max has dealt with before about the girls while he was in the Navy..

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Donna, what about going another route? Try whoever handles housing violations in that town. Maybe the Health Dept. (usually is). That many people in one house is not sanitary and they can get them for code violations. While it is a little thing it gets them on the books as doing something illegal so you can build on that.
The courts can also name a guardian addlitum (sp), which is a lay person who speaks only for the kids. She (or he) has the power of the court to go in and see and ask questions and when custody is brought up they have the power to speak for the kids. Came in handy for my son years ago in Ohio, so check it out.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wow Sistahs.. thanks for giving extra info to Donna..
learning something new everyday..

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

BJ where are you???

The kids opened the goodies you sent today and were thrilled.. They said thank you bunches and are now asking to cuddle on the couch with their new quilts and watch a movie..

Great thing is that is the type of Quilt I wanted to start out learning so now I can look at those and figure it out...LOL

I'll be busy in a few.. but got to post this. Sis Deborah emailed me this, and a few of you might have it already. Thought it's too 'wise' not to be shared.

Good Advice for a Happier Life!

1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day. And while you walk, smile. It is the
ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statements, 'My
purpose is to __________ today. I am thankful for______________'

4. Eat foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is
manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water. Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan
salmon, broccoli, almonds & walnuts.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, whiney people, drama queens, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control.
Invest your energy in the positive present moment.

8. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a college
kid with a maxed out charge card.

9. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

10. Life is too short to waste time hating or being envious of others.

11. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

12. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.

13. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.

14. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey
is all about.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will
this matter?'

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

18. What other people think of you is none of your business. If someone doesn't like you, that's about them, not about you.

19. GOD heals everything.

20. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

21. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch!!!

22. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

23. Each night before you go to bed complete the following statements: I am
thankful for __________. Today I accomplished _________.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy, BJ's talents are multi-faceted ;)

Bailey's Truffles
Ingredients
1 pound chocolate, chopped into small pieces
2/3 cup heavy cream
1/3 cup Bailey's Irish Cream
1 pound confectioners' sugar

Cooking Instructions
1. Place the chocolate in a heat proof bowl and set aside. Bring the cream to a boil in a small pot.
2. Pour the boiling cream over the chocolate and let stand for 1 minute. With a rubber spatula, begin stirring the cream and the chocolate together in the center of the bowl. Gradually incorporate the remaining chocolate and cream from the edge of the bowl.
3. Stir in the Bailey's Irish Cream. Cover and let stand overnight or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
4. Scoop the chocolate mixture out into small round balls, about 3/4" in diameter. Roll the truffles, individually, in the palms of your hands to achieve a uniform shape or leave them as is and irregular.
5. Store the truffles in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks and toss them in confectioner's sugar just before serving.
