Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #75
hiya seed, thanks for responding... thought i was invisable!! lololol
no, no package.. im sorry....
hugs
Betty, I do so agree with what you said. Ultimately no one else can make us happy if we do not allow ourselves to be happy. That is why I have decided that no matter what happens, I just have to move forward. Yes I do get down at times but I have learned that when I do, that I need to find something positive to focus on. And I always have a few Joyce Meyer episodes on my dvr box to watch in case I need some positive reinforcement. And I'm not sure what channel it is where you live, but here channel 2 is called Daystar, and that has some of the best programs on it. I love the ones late at night called Creationscapes where they play soft worship music while showing beautiful scenes from nature. That is very uplifting and I try to watch it when I can. And I saw this show about Thomas Kinkade and his artwork. That was really awsome and so uplifting. After seeing that I can now see why they call him the Painter of Light. And when I find something like that that is so positive and inspirational, I save it so that I can go back and watch it anytime that I start to feeling down. It is so amazing how something like that show on Thomas Kinkade can really lift you up when you are feeling down.
Dragon, I love to make those types of pictures. I used to sit for hours and make them. They are so much fun to make. And I love yours, especially the last one with all the blue. Right now I can't do any of those kinds of graphics because my laptop just can't handle those programs but I'm trying to get some things straight with hubby so that I can have a desktop computer again. Plus this laptop is getting really slow and I'm so afraid it will crash before I can get the desktop again. But I'm praying that it holds out just a while longer until I can get my desktop computer. Then I can have fun with my graphics programs again plus do some web design like I used to.
Jesse
Laura sweetie, you are never invisible..we lost you, went back on threads and found you again...think I sent you an e-mail with new thread info..if I didn't my apology thought I had..going to go check...
While we're braving our winter you are enjoying summer right?
Breath easy now, did sent you a notice yesterday..
The following was sent:
Enjoyed hearing that the boss was off and that you are bonding with girls from the office....
I so want to see photo's of the grandchildren..
Was getting hard to download so thought I'd move us over...
think of you often...
[HYPERLINK@davesgarden.com]
I was so worried you might have thought we didn't remember you..lol..which we did thought..hugs...it always makes my day Laura when you post...
Now please tell us what temps. are in your area...thought of you this morning as I watched a show filmed in Australia..it was a group of doctors who would go along the oceanfront lifting rocks to pick up what i personally thought was shells, but they are creatures within that if they prick you one can die or be paralyzed and these doctors were doing research on the poison which when done into meds can help many diseases...was very interesting..wondered if you lived close to that particular shoreline and how dangerous it must be for you....
Jesse here is a link that you can bring up and watch his shows...I find if I'm feeling low this is the link to view...

Drum roll....tada/tada
I've decided not to go to Florida...mom just called and said she'd not take a chance and I just feel that I'd rather stay home, do some of the things i.e. tiling etc. and just take time to re-generate.......
I liked the winters in AU. Where we lived it never got very cold. It would only get down below freezing a few times and that was it. It was usually around 40. Then I came here and it sure has been cold here in Plano. Last night it was 25 and I looked outside and it was raining. Well you probably guessed what that caused. Black ice. So on the news all they talked about was all the wrecks in the area. Especially on the bridges and overpasses. And they said schools were going to be closed or opening late here today. Then I heard people scraping the ice off of their cars this morning. I have been hoping it will warm up so that I can go out for a nice long walk. I like to do that everyday if I can. But I have to wait til it is warmer since I don't have a heavy coat here. All I have is the thin one that I bought while living in AU. I need to get hubby to send me one of my warmer coats.
Jesse
Thanks Betty. I will check that out.
Jesse
Jesse, is he sending you more of your belongings..now tell us about your apartment..the nice things about it? am sure there are...sit and take a look and out of positive shinning eyes what do you see...
I'll drive in blizzards but if it's icy, no go...with all the melting over the weekend then it freezing it's quite deceptive, light snow hides the ice so more apt for someone to fall when walking..
It feels nice to have made the decision of staying home...now I can make plans to visit friends, no rushing around tonight/Wedn. and Thurs. now that's a plus...
Not knowing is so energy draining isn't it...once you've made your mind up as to what you want to do, all else falls into place...doesn't mean that on a sunny day while off I can't cross the border and spend a night or 2 away, just NOT Florida...
Well the way my apartment is set up is really nice. Whoever designed it used up every single inch of space without wasting any. When you walk in the door, to the left is the living room. It has a nice fireplace in it and a nice size window on each side where I have my plants at. On the right is the kitchen. It is not all that big, but big enough for me and hubby if he ever comes here. Then at the end of the kitchen is a door, and inside that door is the utility room, and in there is a full size washer and dryer. Then right outside the utility room is another door which is the pantry. Then if you keep walking after you come in the door, you go around the counter to the right and that is the dining room. And if you keep walking straight you walk into the bedroom. There is a pretty big window in the bedroom. And if you open the blind, you see my patio, which has a 4 foot wood fence around it. Once inside the bedroom, if you turn to the right, there is a walkway leading to the bathroom. On each side of the walkway is a nice size closet. One has just one row to hang clothes on with shelving above it. And on the other side the closet has two poles to hang clothes on, one above the other. Then you walk into the bathroom. It is really nice. It has a mirror above the counter that is about 5 feet wide. So it is really big. The sink is on one end and then there are drawers across the rest. Then there are 4 doors below that open and there is plenty of storage room. The bathtub is on the other side and the toilet is between the shower and the counter. Then if you walk on around, you will come out at the dining room. And that about completes the tour.
I really do like how it is all laid out. It is really spacious and yet not too big. And it is really easy to take care of. So if I ever get my stuff back, it will be really nice. I will just have to buy furniture since I don't have any of that. And all the stuff in the 50 bins I need to go through and keep some and throw away some. I want to make sure that my apartment stays nice and clean. Oh, the dining room will be our office, since he needs it for his job and I need it to set a desk up for me too. We can eat at the counter with a couple of bar stools. So that way I will not mess a table up every time we eat. All we will mess up is a counter top. As soon as I'm able to get a camera, I will take photos for you.
Jesse
Oh Betty, I love your picture of the kitties and the cute saying. I saved it to send to my best friend in Maine if that is okay with you. She loves kittens and cats a lot and she will get a big kick out of what it says.
Jesse
Your apartment sounds wonderful Jesse..nice when they use all the space..some apartments although large are layed out in ways that there is no storage and difficult to place furniture...bet it's just adorable ..you've described it where I can visualize you in it...and here you thought you might be on the street...lucky you!
No Cedric at the post office but did have a package in my box...Christmas ornament exchange with another msn group...will put it under the tree with the gifts I didn't want to open until Christmas...
Yawning away here..going to make myself left over turkey dinner...bath...early night..have next week to finish the unfinished projects I listed earlier...
Thanks Betty. I really do like it and it would be really great if I were not in it all alone. But I have to leave that part up to the Lord because only He can work all of these things out.
Jesse
Good night Betty, stay warm and sleep well.
Starzz,
Your candy cane reindeer is almost exactly what I make. What a treasure!
Must be an older craft idea than I thought. Who knows anyway how long some of the crafts we still make have been around?
The scarf around the "neck" I know I added on my own. Kind of just 'fit"! Made it look more "wintery".....
Also--maybe 15 yrs. ago--there were only plain pipe cleaners????
Gita
Jesse that apartment sounds very nice! The last apartment I lived in was pure junk. A pretty good floorplan but small and old and not kept up. The grounds were ok but the buildings were starting to fall apart.
I wanted to work on him today but what I want to decorate him with I don't have, and couldn't get out today due to icy roads, and my light in here burned out and it's 12 feet high and I don't do ladders so poo. This side of the house doesn't seem to have the same insulation as the rest of the house does and it's way cold in here, about 10 degrees difference and as soon as you walk from the hallway to the living room you can feel the difference, so I've been staying out. It only got up to 27 degrees today. The cold gets my asthma going and all I do is cough. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be just as bad but thawing tomorrow late morning, but I have to go to work tomorrow, but not til 10. so poo again! I want it done by this weekend! What I should do is just brave the ice in the morning, Dave went to work tonight and he'll let me know in the morning what the roads are like. I drive the same track except I go a little further, plus my car is all wheel drive with a slip differential, when my car starts to slide on anything (it does this in my gravel driveway all the time) the slip will kick in and it will not go, it's like I put it in Low 4 wheel drive.
Sounds like we've all had our time with drs and their mis diagnosis. Good Grief. (Yes I saw Charlie Brown's Christmas lol)
And Laura, no one forgets about you, I know when you haven't been posting... ^_^

Laura - It was so nice to see you post. I was hoping that things were well with you. It sounds like it's been so nice with your boss out of the office.
Betty - Cedric should be there in the next couple of days. Keith sent him expresspost but this is Moose Factory we're talking about. I'll try to remember to ask Keith for the tracking number if he still has it.
Jesse - I'm not sure what your budget for the camera is. I have a kodak z712. I bought it in the summer of 2007 for about $400 (I think). I saw it in Walmart this summer for $179 (Canadian Dollars). It has an automatic setting but you can also set it to manual settings. It has a 12 times zoom lens. It comes with a disposible battery but you can purchase a rechargeable battery that fits it, plus a charger. It also will take AA batteries if you prefer that. I also have a super compact Kodak camera. I LOVE it. It obviously doesn't have all the capabilities of the z712 but it can fit in my pocket so it's so easy to take wherever I go.
Just to give you more options. When I purchased my z712 I was also contemplating a Panasonic Lumix (I forget the model #). It has a 10 or 12 times zoom lens. One of my friends has this one and she loves it. It's pricier than the Kodak but it's really nice too.
It's been a while since I've been on DG. I've been spending a lot of my time online on a mothering website that I like. They have a holiday helper program to help families in need and so I've been getting boxes together to send to some of the Canadian ones. It's funny. There are things, espcially kids clothes, that I didn't want to put in the yard sale I had in October. Now, I'm excited to give them away - and pay to ship them. It's exciting to think of how excited the kids will be when they get their gifts. If anyone's interested, here's a link to the US site. http://www.shesdreamingindigital.com/holidayhelper/index.php You can also view the families who have had their needs met and thankyous from the families helped. This all started a few years ago by one mother posting saying that she wanted to give someone some money to help with the holidays and asking for someone who wanted help.
Today was the Christmas concert at school. It was so good - so much better organized than it usually is. This evening there was a family Christmas dinner sponsered by the Healthy Babies/Healthy Children and Headstart programs here. It was really nice. While Ian and I were in line to get the food I bent down to talk to him and he chose that instant to jump up - right smack into my nose. I looked in the mirror a little while ago and it looks a little swollen and I'm sure I'll have a bruise by the morning. I put some arnica gel on it so hopefully that will lessen the effect. It hurt so much. And, of course, Ian feels things so strongly that when he saw that he hurt me he started crying. I told him what I really needed to feel better was a big hug from him so that helped.
I guess I should get off to bed. I'm babysitting tomorrow. Oh, that reminds me, I was supposed to babysit one of the babies this whole week but he's actually going to someone else's house this week. That is such a relief. It's been nice to be able to do more things for ME! Plus our living room is a pile of boxes in various stages of being filled for my holiday helper stuff. I want to get them sent tomorrow though so we should have our living room back then.
Crissy, this apartment complex is 30 years old but you sure would not know it. It is small, less than 300 people, and it is gated, which I really like. It makes me feel much more secure having the security gate up there. And it has been taken such good care of. So I feel very blessed to be living here. I just wish I was able to get around easier but at least I live in a nice place.
Jesse
Morning, not going to stay long...quite a bit of snow needs to be dealt with..joys of living in the northern country...
Gillian not to worry, am sure Cedric is telling tales of his visits and stories of the families he's been with to the postal workers and probably resting knowing I'll keep him busy...perhaps today he'll arrive...
Off I go..
Good morning Betty. I am up watching the Daystar channel, watching them show the beautiful scenery as they play some beautiful worship songs. It is one of my favorite times to be up because I really do enjoy the show. I hope that you will not have too much snow to shovel and that it will not take you too long.
Jesse
Morning everyone. Please be carefull shoveling all that snow! That is a lot of weight to be lifting and can be dangerous. There is a special report on the nerws just now about the dangers of snow avalanches, so please be carefull.
Betty, you only have today, and 2 more days till your vacation. I do hope you have a wonderfull time off work. Wether you decide to drive to Florida, or stay home.
Take care everyone.
Linda Kay

betty omg! 31 today cant warm up here even dogs are huddled at heater lol at least i can say living room is feeling tropical..
are you going to florida?
hi gilli nice to see you post to
hello to everyone else going back to the warm room lol
They were saying the police had to attend over 150 accidents between the late hours of last night and early morning...although it's bright here they are calling for more snow..sure am glad we didn't have to travel to the city..Paul had meeting though and he said it was rough going traffic wise..
Not much to occupy my time today so spend the morning looking a flights for Clearwater..never say die right..only thing is by the time you convert money to USA funds, add a car rental/flight and parking at airport you are into mega $$$...although I said I will not go I'm still a little saddened by it...torn between being home and the sunny south...
I'll live I'm sure...
Trisha do you have them all lined up? lol....how excited everyone will be to get their own santa especially created for them...
Day feels like 3 all rolled up into one..always like that isn't it when you only have a few more before Christmas...
Have a few in line....a few in the mail...and more on the drawing board.....looks like the relatives from the other side of the State aren't going to make it over for Christmas so don't have to rush....we don't exchange gifts with them as a rule, so when theirs are done it will be a nice Just Because gift and they will have them for next year..
Just got about 4" of snow off of the car.....there have been two cars down our street so far....hopefully the main streets are clear....
trish , just sitting here green with envy just beautiful scenery!
judy, pg&e comming out to look at stove :) forgot to ask you where and what is the feel of the green fabric with gold glitter?
Hi all! Just don't have time to catch up right now. Got to go to the store while the main roads are good enough. We have another wintery mix coming in tomorrow. Scotty and me both out of some meds but will have to wait till Sat if the roads are ok. No big deal. Not the important stuff. All have a good day. HUGS BEV
Good Day!
Wow, look at all the beautiful Snow...Nice and fluffy.
Liz, Glad you called right away, lets hope they get out there right away.
The green material is Velvet, It came with with the sparkles! That was my $6.00 a yard find! Dang, and more swearing that I didn't buy more...lol should have been bad and charged it...oh well, so i am being bad and keeping it, lol present to myself.
Bev, Those photos are really pretty!!
You know I have been so crazy cleaning and straightening up i'm being lazy!! watching CSI reruns. This afternoon i am planning on taking kids Christmas shopping.
Trish, I am having a nice cozy fire as well. Hey, I would love to see all your Santas in picture too!How many have you made all together?, lol I lost track after 4. But they are all just gorgeous!
Gosh, went to the Christmas gathering at Managers yesterday...Every room was decorated just Beautiful. I told her Her looks as it should be in a magazine. Said perhaps you should go into decorating!! Betty, she had Large Vases filled with clear lights and old glass ornaments...I am thinking to copy, I just loved it.
Now the ride there and Back was quite the experience...A normal 1.5 hr ride took over 2 to get there and 5 hours to get home!!
OMG...I love those ladies,(most of them) to pieces but good gosh, never will i go on another road trip with them again.
Are laughing LIZ? Next time if she has a spring gathering, I will drive. Thankfully i survived and I quickly, puffed down 2 ciggies immediately upon getting out of the car....ROFLOL...It was a Very nice visit tho, I am glad I went.
So, i am off to have some lunch and figure out what the heck i want to do, something, lol just don't know what yet, Should be crafting, but I seems to be in a mjor LAZE mode!
Ok so Snow Ball fight?? Ves, Waving hello!! Are snowed in too. LOL, almost wish I had a snow mobile.
Splat!
sorry-just kind of skimmed through all the missed posts, but JESSE-I have always owned Nikons and LOVE them...bought my mom one 2 years ago for Xmas and she is shall we say "technilogically challenged" and she LOVES it:)
Betty,
Just saw you weren't feeling well on the Santa workshop.
Geesh I sure hope it's not the flu. Don't wanna be sick on your whole vacation.
So maybe a good night sleep will be the ticket...
Anxious to see if Cederick and Bailey got to you yet.
Wonderhug, You are far fom invisible sweetie! Always so glad to see you post.
It sounded to me like you were doing very well. Think about you everyday.
Hi ya Jessie, Wishing you good luck with a camera. Your apartment sounds beautiful. Very Happy for you...
You are staying very positive and that so good. I am happy for you, plus i think lots of people will be in and out of the threads all day long.
Gilli, Wow thats alot of boxes. Great idea helping others out. You are sweetie. Plus I am sure it helps knowing that the items are going for a good cause...I hope your nose is better today, poor Ian, I am glad the Hug made you both feel better. And it is so nice to see that you are taking time for yourself. You deserve it!
Carol...youhoo, what to you up to? OH, My gosh, the manager had Woodpeckers at her feeder yesterday, she and I stood and Watched them for a few minutes. Was really great to see them so close, And me, so dumb didn't even think to take a picture! Was telling her about your windows and feeders. She just smiled telling me how she enjoys sitting with her coffee watching all the birds. I smiled and said Us too.
Well I dunno know Liz, must be busy working with her crafts...sure invite me to play and then don't!! LOLOL.
So what did the stove man say???
Well you all must be busy today, no one to blab with so...I check in later.
lol judy,
pg&e just left it was a gas leak in the griddle,we never use it anyway..
so they capped it off yaaaaa cooking back in order ok off to trader joes
ahhh-I miss trader joe's...........
Betty sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Hope you are snuggled up nice and warm and getting a good rest.
We have had a good amount of Snow for around here....4 to 6 inches. That isn't much by most standards but here people aren't used to it, don't know how to drive in it....schools closed today...
But it has been beautiful! Got Bill to and from work safely.....and we are settled in for the night. I really enjoyed watching it snow all day today. We have a central mail box in the circle in front of our house......I picked up the mail for mum and three elderly neighbors. At 80 Mum is the youngest and the only one who doesn't need a cane or a walker! One of the ladies fell at the end of her drive last year and broke her hip. We sure do not need a repeat of that!
Porter has been just like a puppy in the snow.....she loves it....jumps around and ploughs her nose into the snow. She is so much fun to watch!
Had a busy day today so just getting a chance to drop in. Feel bad saying this but we had a high of 82 today!!! This is not real--it should be colder. Got some errands finished and daughter finally got her car in to be serviced. Hard when you work out of state every day.
Betty, don't you dare get out and hurt yourself shoveling snow. Nope--not a good idea.
Have had a busy night fielding telephone calls regarding our garden festival in March. Geez vendors are starting to get in a panic and we still have 4 months to go. Hope this means we will fill early as it makes it some much easier when putting the program together. I hate last minute corrections when working on that.
Well, think I will call it a day. Take care everyone, stay warm. safe and don't overdo it with the snow.
Morning, wow it's cold out there and more snow, must get it done before leaving for work...got home at 6:30 and in before 7..just time enough the feed the furries...Marion, lol, at least the weather is in your favour..82..how wonderful..
Trisha, regardless how carefull people are, with light coveer of snow on the ground you don't realize the ice underneath and can really injure yourself...
That's much the conditions here, rain and cold temps of Sunday made a virtual icerink around here, now with fresh snow you often take a slip and a slide..
Called Cathy last night to tell her thanks for her offer to stay here but I wouldn't be going to Florida..she told me if I changed my mind she'd be available...
Best go take care of the snow...
How are you feeling today Betty??
