came from here...

Snowing and blowing, with so many photo's of my Christmas day, thought I'd move us into a quiet room, so still in here, wondering what to do so thought you might drop in while I have so much time on my hands...
A room filled with friends..what more could one ask for...am sure there are a few earthly angels as well...come sit, let me make you coffee/hot chocolate....
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #75
You got ahead of me here is what I had posted on the other room:........
I'm having fun...it is getting Christmas gifts taken care of...DH just shakes his head...LOL! I have one of the large ones half done in bright red. I picked up a beautiful gold brocade and a Blue and silver brocade a few days ago...hope to get those done soon also. I can't go near a fabric department without seeing half a dozen fabrics that I want for them...I showed the Little Mrs. to mum. She thought she was sooo cute...five minutes later she phones to say she found some doll curls that she used on some of wood creations once upon a time...doesn't do that now and thought they might work for my little ladies! My have to see if I can't get her going on Santa's also!
Temp is dropping as the sun gets lower and the wind has not let up that I can tell...Porter is still in the hallway...that seems to be my Wind Gauge...when it lets up enough she will come back out to her bed here in the front room... but then it will be time for a good fire in the fireplace and she doesn't like that either. She is an extremely Alpha Female...she will take on Pitts, Rotties, or any other large dog, (Or person if they are threatening to me) but she is such a wimp with wind, water and the fireplace...but she is my best ever Furrie and I wouldn't trade her for the world.
Gita what a wonderful group of young ones.....you must be very proud of them...
Having lived in Warmer Climes......those Shorts and Tanks Christmases can be nice too!
Judy, finally you got the santa outside..he looks lovely set with lights...I don't see snow ???? what did you get up to today with not having to work or did you go help Steve? You will end up loving being home, playing Mrs. Mom and wife you'll not want to find a job...
I worked along side Paul all day trying to get the last of the office organizing done..you can say we now look like an office...he was going to hire a cleaning company to come in 2 or 3 times a week..shucks, with all the time I have on my hands I could easily take 15 minutes at the beginning of the day and end of the day..we're not messy...lol..so off he went to purchase a new vacuum, so looks as though I've a new project...saw the santa's you did on the view only thread...you and Trisha sure are busy creating..you soon must be out of heads...I think I have 6 left...so my accounting was pretty accurate...not using them..already have the molds put aside...
Trisha my Riley is the same..loves the outdoors but come winter begs to be let out, I open the door , simply looks out and right back inside to a cozy corner...
Linda Kay, the other day I bought a box of candy canes, put the hammer to them and broke them into miniature pieces, put them in a jar..now when I make hot chocolate I put a spoon full inside..OMG to die for..so off you go looking for that candy cane you thought you'd not eat...
Thought I had posted this morning the photo of the frame and gnome Braedon and Caleb bought me for Christmas..here I go in search of photo...must be in cyber space...
Gnome is almost 2' high..will look cute in one of my gardens...

Ode to my wife...the Tole Painter
She learned to paint on Monday,
Her strokes were going fine.
She forgot to thaw out dinner,
So we went out to dine.
She painted daisies on Tuesday,
She says they are a must,
They really are quite lovely,
But she forgot to dust.
On Wednesday it was strawberries,
She says the blending fun.
What hi-lites! What shadows!
But the laundry wasn't done.
Her apples were on Thursday
So juicy, bright and red.
I guess she really was engrossed,
She never made the bed.
It was violets on Friday,
In colors she adors.
It never bothered her at all,
The crumbs on all the floors.
I found a maid on Saturday,
My week is now complete.
My wife can tole the hours away,
The house will still be neat.
Well it's already Sunday
But don't call me a sain.
I cursed, I rave, I ranted.....
THE MAID HAS LEARNED TO PAINT!
Candy Cane Reindeer.
Here is an easy, last minute craft thingie you can do. You can use these as tree decorations/ornaments..as things to put on packages (along with the ribbons)....or use them as party favors.....anything........
You need:
Candy canes---any color/flavor
1" red pom-poms (for hat)
1/2" white pom-poms (for on top of hat)
1/4" red pom-poms (for noses)
Thin strips of white fleace or sparkly, fat pipe-cleaners, for around bottom of hat (fur).
--Strips of wool/plaid/scarf-like material cut into 1/2" strips (on the bias) as a scarf.
--Red or brown pipe cleaners--either plain, or chennile bumped ones, for "antlers".
--Low Temp Glue gun and glue sticks
To do:
--Cut pipe cleaners in half and then fold each half in half again.
--Place the bent part of each half under the top curve of each candy cane and twist it
tightly-twice. Fold ends downward--for now.
--Dab top of twist with glue and set the 1" red pom-pom on top, holding it down till it is set.
--Put a small dab of glue on top of the red pom-pom and press the 1/2" white pom-pom
on top of it.
--Now--run a bit of glu, from the glue gun, around the base of the red pom-pom and
attach the strip of white fleece, or whatever, all around it--making it fit smoothly.
Now--Hat is finished!
--Put a tiny dab of glue near the end of the candy cane and press the 1/4" red pom-pom
there for the nose.
--Get your strip of "scarf material" and tie it around the candy cane (lower down). Put a
dab of glue near the curve of the "neck" (higher up) and slide the knotted part up on the
scarf, higher up, to hold it in place. That's it!!!!!!
You can do a couple of dozen of these in one evening if you have all the supplies needed ready.
I do these so I can justify watching TV later in the evenings......:o)
Let me know if you did these and how they turned out!
Gita
Gita,Those are cute...I will have to see if I can get the stuff for Sage to make these next time she is here!
They are adorable...no little ones, they'd look nice attached to gifts though Gita...
Stacey, read on yesterday's thread that you did see the doctor..as for anti depressants I have taken St. John's Wort and from all the data on it, it works every bit as good as fabricated meds..think you are worn down...
Snow on the ground this morning, wasn't thrilled about getting out of bed...was far too cozy..must go have a second look to see if I must get out and snowblow...
Paul is extremely busy starting tomorrow..he's spending today with us girls getting pictures up in the office, making sure we're well supplied and then it's off to the city..
Thought we might go out for Christmas luncheon on Friday but see that Suzanne must be in the city for signings so that's out...4 more days...so looking forward to it regardless of what I end up doing...
Best get out of my jammies into something warm as it's cold out there...
sorry-here is what I posted this am on the last thread:
"LK forgot about a dmail I sent her telling her she would get a bubble envie from Ebay and that it it was to go under the tree til xmas:( It was from me-part of her xmas pressie:(
Dr said I have an ear & sinus infection-wanted me to take the rest of the week off for my laryngitis, but I said no, and she wanted to put me on anti-depressants, to which I also said no, so we compromised on St. John's Wort..."
Gita..cute candy canes..my nephew made some when he was very young..I still have one left..he is 21 now..
His were more like reindeers.
You can use the regular, brown pipe cleaners and twist 2 halves together. That way you will have 2 antlers on each side.....could even do three....
Raindeer have big antlers.
Starzz--please post a picture of the one you have....
G.
Carol, are you missing the snow...was stormy when I left home this morning and then towards Barrie it stopped...are calling for more later today, let's hope it's after I arrive home...
Still on my list of todo's and must be done by Friday..
putting 2 santa's together (all are gathered) for the girls in the office
5 floral arrangements (must get at them before the flowers die die
Finish Mrs. Santa
Now that I rested last night I should be able to get at least 1/2 done tonight...tomorrow night I'll make plans to go to Penetanguishene for a visit with Uncle Allan and then with Aunt Exilda/Uncle Louis..I'm probably the only niece who visits....why is it always left to one person???
Oooops
Forgot what I wanted to share with you all...my girlfriend from Ireland sent it to me....

Hello to everyone else...waving...
Almosted missed the new room, but I'm here.
morning Laura...what do you have planned for today?
Morning Betty, How is your day so far? Thanks for the link, that was very nice.
Sounds like you are counting down your days till your vacation? You are going to Florida aren't you? I know you will have a good time.
Love all the Santa's still being posted. All the same kit, but no two alike. Guess that is what makes us different?
Stacey, I am so sorry, I opened your package. But I had no idea it was yours. It had someone else's name on it. No idea it came from you or from ebay! The necklace is very pretty, and I love it. Thank you so much!
All of you stay warm, and drive carefull if you have to go out.
LK
Betty, going back to sleep (cold weather is not being nice to me), putting up Christmas decorations, finishing my swap items, hoping the kids will get picked up by their dad at school today, I think that and goofing off will take care of the day.
Laura, we all need a day of goofing off as you call it...
No not sure about Florida..don't know if I want to branch out all on my own..tried to talk girlfriend Liz who is on her own to fly in and come with me but as she just finished her vacation to Spain, no can do...
playing it day by day...it will be a last minute descision...if my sister Sharon's back was better she'd come with me..but, can't take the sitting..
Goofing off was just one point :o) but yes everyone needs to goof off sometimes, some of us more often than others.
Isn't it marvellous to go back Carol and go through ornaments the kids made...have a cute reindeer as well made with clothes pins..ran out of trees, put a bunch of old decorations out on the deck tree...
Are you enjoying your new camera?
Sitting here, Paul is going through all the filing cabinets throwing things out, me I'm sitting here, Greg game me his snowmobile dickie that I put hide one..making it shorter so it will fit under his new helmet, so taking rows out of the knitted part..will wash it tonight and tomorrow sew back on the leather..that will make him happy....
Does anyone here know which kind of camera would be best for taking photos of plants? I had saved up enough to buy a real expensive camera when I was in AU but that got taken away and I still need a camera. There are so many out now and I don't have any idea of what one is best. So maybe you all could tell me what kinds you have and if you like or dislike them. All I want right now is a basic point and shoot. Maybe later I will be able to save up the money to get a real nice one. So what kinds do you have and how do you like them?
Thanks,
Jesse
Sorry that I can't help you Jesse...have 2 cheaper models that I bought extra memory for..I have a habit of either being careless with camera's or I just throw them here and there so a good one I don't need...
Some of the other girls should be able to help though..think both Beg and Carol do a lot of photo work..maybe they have suggestions...
Have you managed to check with different groups in your area as to what they have planned for Christmas Jesse..do hope you have and you won't be alone Christmas...
What is on today's agendy Jesse?
Are you looking for a digital camera? I have a Kodak P850. I have had it for about 2 years, and right now I am not happy with it. Of course there is no more warranty on it, and it takes good pictures, but when I flip it to view pictures, the camera shuts off. I have a brand new battery in it, ($40.00) that Kodak suggested, and it has not helped the problem. It takes nice pictures, I just can't use the camera to view them. So I have to download them into the computer to view.
It cost me almost $300.00 at Wal-Mart.
Hope this helps you out.
Anyone else have pro's and con's of your cameras?
LK
Gita those are adorable!
Well, the sleet/freezing rain sent me home from work yesterday afternoon at 2, and has kept me out of work all day today! Most of the roads are passable now but they're saying since it's not going to get above 30 today if you don't have to drive, Don't. I need to be getting the house ready for the weekend (we're going to have a few neighbors and family over), but Dave's asleep on the couch in the living room so it makes it difficult. I want to go shopping but not if the roads are all icy.
LOL St. John's Wart, hopefully that will clear it up. I would've said no to the antidepressants too.
I gotta tell ya about this dr I went to one time, and I mean one time. I had this nagging pain in my left breast. My dr had just retired so I was in search for a new one. I went to this lady dr, I don't remember her name, but she proceeded to tell me that the pain in my left breast was from worrying about a job I had lost (5 years prior I got laid off from a job I absolutely hated, so I don't think I was worrying about it, especially after 5 years had gone by!) and she decided that I was depressed from my current job, which I happened to like, and tried to put me on Prozac, and wanted to have another "chat" with me the following week! Since I thought I went to a MD and not a Psychiatrist, I ignored everything she said, I was around 22 or 23 at the time, but did laugh about it. I got an appt with a different dr the same week and told him what had happened at the female dr's office, turns out she lost her license the day after she saw me! I'd say she was a few bricks shy of a full load. Anyway the pain in my boob was from a pulled muscle. Good thing she lost it then because I was going to turn her in, less paperwork for me! LOL
Hey, my weather globe says it's 35 degrees outside, that means the ice has melted! Wonder what it's doing around the rest of the state! See you in a little bit!
Yes, I do need a digital camera so that I can take the photos and then edit them on my computer if necessary. I had a wonderful camera that worked well for several years and then one day it just died. So until I can afford a really nice one again, I'm just looking for an inexpensive point and shoot version. But there are so many of them out there now and I have no idea which one will be best for me. It used to be easy picking one out because there were not so many to choose from but now there are so many. I was looking through a flyer that I had gotten from Walmart and even in their little sale paper there are so many. So I guess the best thing to do is to find out what you all like and dislike about yours.
Regarding Christmas, I guess I will just be home alone. I have done some checking around, and have not found anywhere to go. Plus I don't have a way to get anywhere. So I guess it will just be me at home alone. But I have decided that I will not let it get me down, that I will just find something good on TV to watch so that I can keep my self occupied so that I don't sit here and feel sorry for myself. I'm tired of being so down and depressed and so I've decided to do whatever I can to keep myself from sinking so low and feeling sorry for myself. I have a couple of nice Joyce Meyer books to read and then another kind lady at DG sent me a couple of other nice books to read. Did you know that they make a Chicken Soup for the Gardener's Soul? I didn't know that until I recently received it in the mail. I thought that was so sweet of her to send that to me. So that should keep me busy and then if I get tired of that, hopefully there will be something nice to watch on TV. You know what is so funny about all of this? In the past, I would have just sat here and listened to sad music and cried all day. But not anymore. I will keep myself busy with positive things because there is no need to keep going over and over the past. Once you have dealt with your past in therapy, which I have, then there is no need to keep going over and over it again. It has taken me many years to get to this point though. In the past I would have been totally devastated. But now my whole focus has changed and I want to focus on the positive things in my life and not on the negative. Yes I will miss the nice Christmas dinner with family and friends, but there is nothing that can be done about that now. So I might as well make the most of the situation and keep my focus positive. I record every single Joyce Meyer program that comes on TV everyday, and I watch them and even take notes on what she is saying and I have found that to be one of the best sources of staying positive that I have. So even though I will be alone, I will not really be alone because I have Jesus, and my Father, and the Holy Spirit here with me. So together we will have something to eat, even though it will not be turkey. And what better company could anyone ever hope to entertain?
Jesse
Hi Bev, I think we cross posted. Anyway, last year I had my nice camera so I promised to send me other camera to my best friend that lives in Maine because she did not have one. Well when I went to pack it in the box, I decided to put fresh batteries in it just to make sure it was working okay. And guess what? It did not work at all. Well I never break a promise and so I had to get online and find a new camera for my friend and order it for her. And I know that it was a Fuji and may be the same one she has. And I know that hers takes great photos. So I will check into that and see if that is what she has now. And then I will see if it is something that maybe hubby can afford. So thanks for sharing that with me. Maybe that will get me on the right track.
Jesse
Jesse,
The new camera I just bought is a Canon Powershot A590.
It has very good reviews..and is inexpensive. Just Google it and read about it.
I got it on sale for $129.99.
It is easy to operate..and has 8MP.
I am happy with the photos it takes.
I had a Sony before..and had two problems with it..and this one has much easier controls than the Sony.
Good luck..and I like your positive attitude.
Good Grief Bev! I think the roads are pretty much clear by now, I might take a trip into Hot Springs, I have all of the furniture dusted except for what is in this messy office. I don't think it will take me very long to clean it up if I would just get to it, but I have all day!
All I have is a little cheap Sony Cyber-Shot with 3x zoom and videos.
Crissy, you being home and shut in because of freezing rain should afford you the few hours to finish that santa..come on now, no procrastinating...want to see the finished project..
Had a late lunch which is always nicer as by the time we get back only a few more hours to work..wouldn't take me much to fall asleep this afternoon..might just get comfy and do so...
Crissy you reminded me of a time a few years after Roger died that I was sleeping all the time, not feeling well just the pitz...I went to the doctor and he kept telling me after the shock of Roger dying and my trying to be brave that it was depression...kept telling him I'm sure it wasn't and it was the same symptoms as when my kidneys stop functioning..kept saying it was stress but I was stubborn and wouldn't take meds. from him...visited him about 3 times and it would be same...depressed because of DH death...so I agreed to take meds he prescribed for it...wow, I was in a stupper..lucky to know which way was up..a friend who came to the hall for programs saw the meds and asked if I was crazy taking such powerful drugs..did I know what they could do to me...I said the Dr. said it was for major depression, she said you'd better change doctor because I've not seen anyone more adjusted with life...
As the weeks past I couldn't stay out of bed, almost dead...I'd go to work, come home go to bed and that was my life...everyone said I looked like death warmed over...
This one day I was at work and the telephone rang, was Midge from the Dr's office asking me if I could come in ASAP, said I was at work and couldn't get away to sit in an office for 2 or 3 hours...she said no, as soon as I arrived the Dr. would see me...
Off I go, he saw me immediately and told me that my kidneys were shutting down and I was very ill...I took the meds out of my purse, put them on his desk and asked if he thought I still needed these..he said he was sorry he had mis-diagnosed...
Because I spent 6 months 1 year, 6 months the following year until my kidney operation in the hospital and that I knew my body I couldn't believe I was stupid enough to let hime talk me into anti-depressant drugs of that magnitude...could have lost my life....
Still have same Dr. but don't have much faith in him but we have such a shortage of Dr.'s...his easy way out for ions regardless of what i was seeing him for was always related to stress levels because of Rogers' death..once I twisted my ankle, couldn't walk...as he entered the office I said 'I know, I know it's because of Roger dying right? he looked at me and I said we'll everything since his death that I've had you've told me is because of his death, why not this?' he wasn't happy!
Regardless Jesse of what friends/family do for us, the ultimate result of our own wellbeing is what we make of our lives, how we should find the smallest of things to bring on a smile...I'm so glad you got some book by Joyce Meyer...you should also go on Joel Olsteens web site..you can key into daily services...he sure knows how to brings out the best in us...
Bev...your place looks much like mine..and yes, it is extremely cold today..
