OP that is so cool!

Pelle, I just can't believe you don't have Brown Creepers around!

TV had a report of over 20 peacocks & hens in a neighborhood--certainly can't be natural & they are noisy & messy. the turkeys made me remember it as they are a nuisance as well.

Marlton, NJ

That is a weird color nanny! Never seen one like that before.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

This thread is so beautiful that I almost don't want to post and mess it up! Rose, LOVE the waxwings. OP, LOVE pileated woodpeckers! Oh, I shouldn't get started it will take all day! Just beautiful photos.

Nice pics Elphaba! Love the Kinglet.

Beautiful shot Margaret!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Great shots everyone!

Margaret...that last shot where you went snorkeling has me extremely envious...it's just beautiful!

It has been very windy in our area so I am still shooting through the window. I am getting antsy to get outside and shoot but that won't happen with the artic front that is coming in tonight. The temps are supposed to drop 40 dgrees with rain, sleet, ice and snow. I am not ready for this. How is everyone doing in the the northeast since the recent ice storm you had? Those ice storms can be brutal and I hope you all are doing OK!

Here is a typical shot of a couple of the back yard feeders. Goldfinch being goldfinches!!

Another crummy window shot but had to share the pair of Carolina Wrens in the worm feeder cage. I am going though my second batch of 20,000 worms much too quickly! I keep telling DH that all I want for Christmas is $!! LOL!!

Lovely pics, Rose. Try to stay warm.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks Margaret...shouldn't you be in bed?!! LOL! Right now it is very warm...close to 60 degrees but tonight it will drop quickly to temps in the 20's!

Here is another crummy pic of the White-crowned Sparrows using the heated pet bow! They were absolutely nuts taking baths yesterday...probably sense the storm coming!

In case you haven't seen it our own Mrs. Ed has a new article where she addresses the needs of birds in winter. It is a great article as well as all the others she has written. Here is a link http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/1961/ .

ha, thanks for the plug rose.

so, are you jut filling that up half way?

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

You're welcome Marna! I fill it all the way to the top but they managed to splash a lot of the water out! I have two bricks stacked on top of each other (in a sort of V, in that makes sense) and when they bathe they stand on the bottom one. I found some old bricks in the basment that have holes in them and they like to drink through the holes!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I was gonna ask you to take a pic of how you how things arranged in your bowl, I have had no takers on mine yet. Think I need more rocks.

Mashpee, MA

Love the turkey shots!! We have them around here but I have never seen one in my yard or even in the woods behind us...wish that I could lure them in. I have to settle for the occasion sighting from my car....and usually when I am pressed for time and cannot stop to enjoy.

South Hamilton, MA

Turkeys here NE of Boston. they take dust baths where we have weeded & it throw the plants around.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Nanny...I have a large rock on one side of the bowl and a stick of firewood on the other. The birds usually land on those first and work their way to the bowl.

Orchard Park, NY

I've gotta get one of those heated bowls. Hey dell, may I ask what kind of seed you have in the light green feeder in your Dec. 14th 8:54 photo?

We used to have many turkeys around my house, but with all the building I don't see them any more. They have moved on. So sad.

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

New species there, blue-bellied goldfinch!!

;-))

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well Rose & Nanny, I have my blue bowl mostly filled with some large rocks. they hop around and drink, but I wonder if there is enough room to bathe sometimes.

Florence, MS(Zone 8b)

Elphaba...I think your pic of Mrs. Cardinal is a wonderful photo. I like the composition and everything else about it. That one is surely a keeper.
