gothqueen, thank you for the ID on the Areca Palm. It is very nice of you to offer cuttings of the Plumeria, unfortunately for me, I live in the forbidden state.
Tropical Garden #26
phughes, good morning
It is not snowing here in Red Oak.
Yes, I saw New Orleans on the news all covered in snow too.
Of all the tropicals, the fern tree seems to be one of the hardier plants...I've really not seen much phase it as yet. We don't have to wait long..here it is this morning!
There is some Brug defoliation in some parts of the garden, but not very much.
Rita & RJ. I can't believer your ferns. They are incredible!
My brugs have leaves all shriveled and hanging down. Should I just leave them as is or something more drastic?
Is it because of the freezing temp? If the top portion are "burned" from the cold weather, you can cut them down to the ground. They will come back next year.
On the safe side, keep a few cuttings just in case they don't come back.
TEXAS Weather???????????????????????????????????????????????????? Now it's all sunshine. Turned off green house heaters. And i can all most feel my toes warming up. Well almost anyway! Jerry
I took cuttings for the greenhouse before the worst hit and they all seem to be doing great. Already have new leaves. Yes, this all from the freeze of the last two nights, upper 20's. Are you saying that the green parts are still viable as cuttings? That would be great.
Off to HD for more soil.
Thanks, Lilli.
LouC, If the lower part of your brug is not squishy, then the cuttings should be good. Usually, when we have a hard frost, below 25F, the top part would get all soft and squishy. Good luck.
Very pretty Rita!
I cannot believe Jeri and her snow, what is going on with the weather in this country?????
We got several inches also but most of it had melted by noon. It's supposed to be 75 by Friday!
The schools probably let the kids play in it a little while before it melted, since it's not an everyday occurance! They showed on the news some of the Dayton Elementary School kids having a snow ball fight during recess!
Many lessons to be learned....just about anything is possible in Texas! LOL!
Great shot Tx Gal, just do not want that snow here in NY, lol!
I'm all for warm summer photos!

Loved the article Randy, especially all the pictures. Its neat to see pictures of stuff I've actually seen in your gardens. You have the most unique garden art.
I'll second that! Jerry
Thanks,

Trying to forget how old I am. hahahaha
Going out to eat with the sisters tonight. Having cake tomorrow with the rest of the family.
