pugh you have mail

PC, let me ask, where are you going to plant these? Don't they have to be potted up to sell? Where are you going to sell them from? Do you have an outlet for them?

I know the stores always get them in early here and the people with cabin fever can't stand it so they go buy them and plant them. The poor little plants can't grow because their feet are so cold so they rot. Then we have to go out and buy them a couple weeks later and replant.

Sound familiar anybody?

Yes its a horrid hab we are all guilty of. I am planning to start some lettuce ans a couple of tomatoes.

Dave, I tried to send you something to your email that I thought you would be interested in, but it bounced. Did you change your email address? Not D-mail. email.

Jeanette, they'll be up-potted to six packs and sold to a local retail store that consistently sells out every year. This place *is* good about telling folks when they buy things out of season that they need to wait - the store has been in this town for a long time with a reputation.

I don't have my greenhouse totally set up (needs ventilation and heat) or I'd give the seeds a try myself with the plugs as back-up. This is our first year, so hopefully the store isn't counting too heavily on us. My friend that I'm doing this with is an employee, so that helps a lot in terms of finding out which types sell for them, etc.

Got my fingers crossed for you. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Yes good luck. I would try seeds as much as possible. I have a bunch growing from seeds. As with any of the plants you will need to have heat or maybe a rack or 2 in the house with grow mats.

Yeah, that's what I have now - one of the chrome Costco racks with a number of lights and 3 heat mats.

Man, I am beat - we replanted all of the plugs into 35 trays of 6 6pks... cauliflower, anyone???

Thanks for the good luck wishes!

Oh man PC, wish I was close enough to help you. Sounds like you have it under control tho. How did the plugs look when you got them? I have ordered some flower plugs on the coop which I have never done before.

I read some of the reviews on the coleus plugs last year and was kind of leary to do it, but they were such a good buy I decided I wasn't out a whole lot if they didn't take.

Happy valentines day everyone
PC:
I am glad its you this early in the spring. And I am betting you are just getting started. Are you starting seeds for the next batch of transplants or are you sticking with rooted plugs?

Jeanette:
its a whole lot different when you order direct from the grower. there is no lag time in turn around. I will only do co-ops on plugs with a few people where I can count on fast turn around. I would tend to look at anything anyone from this thread. Most of us a group of people who want to offset our outbound. I will say if you have the time energy and space seed growing would be a good idea. start them early and just trim them if you get to big in there pots.
I am really lovin the mix I am using during every time I water. Its a kelp/fulvic acid along with benificial microbes and micharyza (or however its spelled)

Dave, it's Mycorrhizae, I think, I've only been using them for about 4 years. I definetely can see a difference in using the blend. Jim

Jim, I ordered the products from Mike in Canada, but I haven't used them yet. Do you water the seedlings with your mixture, as well? I am going to start some seeds in the GH next week (hopefully) - Daturas, Brugs, petunias, Stargazer Lilys, etc.

Dave,
Here is a picture of my black pussy willow. I purchased a few little cuttings a few years ago. The rabbits ate one of them down to the ground and it came back. I took some cuttings from the ground that they did not eat and started them in soil. I am so thrilled to see my first little tree showing her beauty. I have taken more cuttings to propagate if I can start their roots in water. I also cut these to force since I am getting crazy with the weather. Enjoy my signs of Spring. JB

So, you guys, which do you use? Or both? If so, how do you use them? It sounds like you use the Piranha up to blooming and then switch to the Tarantula thru bloom?

Well , Jeanette - if you want to come on down.... we ordered 4 trays each of 8 different tomatoes and peppers. Will be done in 2 more weeks, we'll pick you up at the airport!

Lemme see - 288 plugs x 8 x 4 .... 9,216 seedlings. Rut ro!

Lynn, I germinate the seeds. then, when I transfer seedlings into cell packs. I sprinkle the Micorrhizae on the roots. and then start using the Fulvic Acid about 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp per gal of water. I also use the rooting hormones on the roots. when I transplant or up pot. I start using the Gibberyllic Acid along with the rooting hormones on the foliage when I plant out Vegetables, Flowering plants, in the summer. It works great on Brugmansia, Tomatoes, etc. just don't overdo it. Jim

Jim, are those the 2 products at Sunseth Hydroponics that you and Dave were talking about above?
