Judy, best of luck to Sabrina..know that you know sign language, that must have helped her studies to have someone to sign with?
Liz, I'm so please you logged in..now what are you and DH up to today? know you said you would not be going to the in-laws...will you be cooking yourself..
Dawn, must be so difficult watching your child hurt so much..guess in the long run it's better to deal with it now than to have hurt each and every day..bet you do miss Baily..she's been part of your life these past months..so glad you are getting to see both she and Alysha weekly though...they are almost the same age aren't they? Both you and Steve must be finding the house quiet and big now that there are just the both of you..how will you celebrate Thanksgiving?
Morning Bev...guess you are extra busy today as well...any of the family coming? If not, just knowing they are all safe is enough for any mother...
Trisha, beautiful card...one you've made yourself right? so talented...
Stacey, you are home enjoying the day as well, sure do hope you got to sleep in this morning as a celebration...
Crissy, well she's celebrating in Shreveport..didn't even invite me..I do love that part of the country...
Jeannine, would imagine you and the family are off visiting with family/cousins at the beach area?
Need photo's Gillian of Ian's art...organized???? with kids...difficult thing to do right lol...think we must have about 1' of snow at home..shovelled for 1/2 hours out back door before leaving for work this morning..am sure Greg/Mel and the boys will have the machines out this weekend..Greg will be wanted his snowmobile season trail pass before Christmas I'm sure... is it just bitter cold up there? do you have mega snow?
Well it's almost lunch time...I'm really tired..lots of packing/lifting..today would have been my 43rd. wedding anniversary and also Bill's 69th birthday so I'm a bit moppy today..tomorrow's another day and you've all made my day with kind wishes about my last day...
Betty I know this a difficult day for day for you, here is a poem I found in a little book called The Book Of Good Cheer.....copyright 1913...it belonged to my Great Aunt in 1923......
Oh, Every year hath its winter,
And every year hath it's rain.
But the day is always coming
When the birds go North again.
When new leaves swell in the forest,
And grass springs green on the plain,
And the alders' veins turn Crimson---
And the birds go North again.
Oh, every heart hath its sorrow,
And every heart hath its pain,
But a day is always coming,
When the birds go North again.
'Tis the sweetest thing to remember
If courage be on the wane,
When the cold, dark days are over---
Why, the birds go North again.

Dawn, I was listening to Oprah the other day and she raved about the movie..will have to check to see if it's playing here this weekend as well..haven't been to a movie oh lordy, went with the boys about 3 yrs. ago...this is what they call a 'girl flick' right? I will see it though..if you go can you tell me your thoughts on it? Nice for you to be with friends....enjoy!
Liz/Liz/Liz....now when did you say the smoking stops..can't you make a Thanksgiving promise to stop TODAY! Looking forward to seeing your santa...
Trisha what a beautiful poem..thank you...at lunch Suzanne and I were talking about days of old with Roger..tear or two..she didn't want to bring it up, thought it would upset me, but it was nice talking about it...
The poem was much appreciated as is your thoughts of me today as you fit it in on this a special day for you....
1 MORE HOUR! do I sound excited or what...
Must be the movie of the year Trisha...I've never seen a movie so promoted as was Oprah doing last week..she went on to say they just don't make movies of that type anymore....
Thought I'd share:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT.........
Sisters are there,
no matter how much time and how
many miles are between you.
A girl friend is never farther away
than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you
have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on,
praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on
your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the
valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk
beside you...Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters,
daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law,Mothers,
Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended
family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women, and
neither would I. When we began this adventure called
womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or
sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we
would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still.
Pass this on
to all the women who help make your life meaningful.
I just did.
Short and very sweet:
There are more than twenty angels in this world.
Ten are peacefully sleeping on clouds.
Nine are playing.
And one is reading her email at this moment.
Just received this from my girlfriend Shawnee....thought it represents all of you!
Dear God, universal power,
The lady reading this is beautiful, classy and strong and I love her.
Help her live her life to the fullest.
Please promote her and cause her to excel above her expectations.
Help her shine in the darkest places where it is impossible to love.
Protect her at all times, lift her up when she needs you the most
and let her know when she walks with you, she will always be safe.
Love you!!!!
Last post from Toronto...
Betty, thank you through the tears......you mean so much to all of us........May this last long daily drive be a safe and happy one!
I'm absolutely thrilled for you Bev..what blessing have been bestowed you! I can just imagine you glowing from the love you've received...how wonderful..thanks to the Lord, this Thanksgiving has given you something grand to be thankful for...God Bless! Hope they realize just how much this meant to you!
Just got home..Suzanne thought we should stop in Barrie and get some Christmas shopping done..gift certificate for Chapters for Jeff and Braedon, a 2nd. gift for Darlene..another for DIL Melanie....step-father loves western books to read..was able to pick up 4 books for him at Chapters, and a couple 'what if' someone drops in..so productive night..
Just read the Canadian Tire flyer..they are open tmr. morning at 7am for special of the day..quite a few things I'd like but won't get till Christmas is out of the way..but they do have a little snowblower I want to look at so figure I can be shopping at 7am and back here for work at 9am..
Calling it a day...hope you all enjoyed yours!
Life is too short to wake up with regrets. So love the people who treat you right. Love the ones who don't just because you can. Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Kiss slowly. Forgive quickly. God never said life would be easy. He just promised it would be worth it.
night/night
Took me a long time to find you.
I hope your Thanksgiving was warm and wonderful, and I am sorry my wishes are a little late.
Be well, and be happy.
Morning all...nice to see you post Shar..missed you terribly..
Bev I went to bed with a prayer thanking the Lord that you have all your chldren in your fold..
Now what am I doing up so early on my Friday work at home day? Could have slept in, yes, but then how would I get to Barrie for 7am for door crasher sale..looking at that snowblower..might not be anything I want but worth the try..my plowman does the entire drive so all I shovel is front and back walkways...we'll see...
Snow a brewing again in our area...nice to know I don't have to tackle it ...tummy upset today, still a little off..am sure by mid day I'll be my own self...
Guess you are all full, tired and looking for a day of rest..Black Friday..hmmm want to see who does brave the crowds...
Back when I get home..must drop into Tim Hortons for donut and coffee...treat day
For those of you who have not viewed the 'treasures' my on-line 2nd annual workshop ladies made you can view here:

HEY BETTY!!!
Hi Stacey, hope you are off today and got to sleep in..well 7:42 is sleeping in isn't it...
Just got back from Midland, roads were terrible, started snow/rain..so much slush..did manage to get a snowblower, not sure it will be up to what I want done BUT will try it, not today because the snow is just watered and heavy..great snowman building day..Kyle just called it's a p.d. day so he might walk over later, is so maybe I'll go out and make one...
I do have the cutest project, think one is cut out, should go in search of it..you simply need a snowbank, you put the head which is on a dowel into the top of the bank, wrap a scarf around it...2 hands are on dowels plop them in, the two boots on dowels, set them in sideways, then there's a sign that says..."waiting for snow'....I'm sure I've almost the entire project cut..will go looking for it and show you..something you guys without snow might want to undertake just putting the dowels in the ground..lol...was also lucky at Canadian Tire to purchase a tool for step father Jim to go with the 4 western books I bought him last night, so he's done....good shopping..
Then went to Walmart, managed to pick up 2 gifts for Jeff and on to Home Depot for dowels...Christmas party Monday with painters and we're doing the santa...
Back home by 8:10...now that's shopping..lol
Kyle said he was talking to his dad this morning, the man across the street who is elderly had a heart - attack this fall...Kyle last Christmas got a big snowblower..he loves doing snow...so his dad said for him to go and make sure their drive is always done, because the couple are old..so I told Kyle to tell Greg that he has a OLD mom who lives down the street wouldn't hurt to put the blower on his truck and come do some clearing..lol..Kyle said I will grandma, I'll come with mine...so cute!
Well there is still 1/2 hr. before I officially start my work day here, about 8 boxes of decorations still in back shed..think I'll go out bring them in and unpacked them here and there as well get all the lawn and deck lights on so I can connect the Christmas music sound box..just got to love it...
Nope-I am the only sucker working today:(
That sounds cute and would love to see it when you are done:)
You ARE THE SUUUUPER SHOPPER BETTY!!!;)
Odd not being at work when everyone else is..Noah just called wanted to come and spend the day with me..that's ok..he brought his xbox soooo doubtful I'll see much of him...lol
Morning all,
Went to look after my grandaughter this morning and on the way the car started making a noise from the front wheel.
As soon as I got home I called my small local Hometown auto shop and they said to bring it right in...and then the owner drove me home so he could hear the noise.
So no shopping for me today....but there are lots more days to shop.
I'll have to look at the Canadian Tire flyer and see the snowblower you bought Betty.
Just looking out the window towards the deck..and there are about 6 Blue Jays at the feeders. such a pretty bird...but noisy.
Have a good day all.
Hope it's not major Carol..yes, this flyer was a 3 day mega sale and each day there is a special on..today pots/pans that normally sell for $249.99 are on for $89.99 so SIL Marguerite was there, she wanted a set for her son for Christmas..she also wanted the nice toaster oven, but the confectionary one..reg. $179.99 on for I believe $69.99 but that product only comes on at 7am Sunday morning..forget what is one tomorrow but whatever it is, no go for me..lol..as I was leaving earlier plowman was in the drive so gave him $200.00 for part of the season...another $350. to go..next month right...you should try and go though Carol..was thinking the only thing I'd like is they had a set for 4 dishes for $9.99 - need 2 or 3 sets..christmas design of course...might still go...
Noah is so quiet, he's asked several times if he can help me..I spent morning putting the metal tree I bought at Joanne's fabrics last boxing day..boxing day to us is like your Black Friday..ours is held day after Christmas...anyway it was a good deal, had even forgotten I had it.. so it's together, later I'll shovel where I want it and hopefully the ground in not frozen so I can anchor it..will get all the deck lights and deck tree done today...
Telephones have been busy so best clean up kitchen, wrapping gifts all morning...lunch time..litter gaffer wants to be fed...
Talk later.
Hi everyone...
Yikes Carol hope your car is fixable and not too horrible in cost.
Aww watching the Bluejays how pretty.
We had a baby woodpecker hopping arounfd the front tree this morning!!
Betty, I am so smiling at thyour decorating!! You remind me of happy little elf!
HI Shar!! Good to see you.
Well, had a nice gathering. Only got upset once. I just wish people would not say things that are uncalled for. grrr. I am over it, The rest was a wonderful visit.
Ok Big hugs to everyone, I am off till sometime Sunday, Have grand weekend.
Woohoo, going to make a huge breakfast tomorrow...happy dance a real working stove in the Kitchen!!
Betty, enjoy your visit with Noah, what a sweetie he is.
Had a wonderful dinner last night--just 4 of us. Yummmmmyyyy!
Mark did the turkey on my big grill. He always does it that way. Moist and done in 4 hrs.!
I fussed and worked the whole morning to finish up everything I had to still make. Having a left-over piece of Ruby's "Applesauce Cake" right now--with some Cool Whip on it. VERY good!
My HD had a deal on 6.5" Poinsettias today. I actually went there early on my day off and bought 5 of them--for 99 cents each! Reg. price--$5.97.
We all split up the leftovers--and I really do not have all that much to finish up. Had turkey and stuffing and my cranberry sauce for breakfast. Now it is 2:30 and am having a piece of cake. That will hold me for the day!
So--Here is a picture of the turkey--all finished--on the grill. NO basting! No stuffing with anything. Just all coated in OO and dry Rosemary, Sage, Onion Poeder, and Garlic Powder. And--lots of s&p inside and out.
Here it is--on the grill......all ready to bring inside.
Took this picture this morning of 2 of my hand-made craft items. Some of you might remember these.....
So appropriate--with all the stuff in the news about the Indians and the Pilgrims at some Elementary School.
My message I would like to extend with this picture to you all is:
"Lets have Peace and Harmony among us all as we go from one Season into the next!"
Gita
Gita how very well said!!!
The Turkey looks fabulous.....I may have to try one on the grill!
Love your Thanksgiving Characters those are really cute...!!
I braved the nightmare at Michaels for a little while to get some items I need for some more Santa's......not sure I really needed the stuff That Bad.....I detest standing in lines!!
Hey!
The "After Thanksgiving" ads are already here. More coupons......More 12 mos. no interest no payments.....More "Biggest Sale Ever"....ho mum!
DON'T rush to get bargains! They will only get better and better as we approach Christmas. All retail is desperate--and this is the season they are trying to "hook" you in with all these offers and ads. Know what you want--how much it should cost--and, how much you are willing to pay for it. Also, know that most Big Box stores will "meet and beat" a competitor's prices. Ask for it if you have seen it cheaper somewhere else! That's all!
Patience is a virtue! Gullability is NOT!
Gita
Another "Peace and Harmony" shot.....Yes, I made the turkey too.....real, wild turkey feathers on the tail to boot!
I love the Turkey Gita, do you have any instructions? Sage would love a project like these!!
Hi there, Noah just left..got to tell you we so enjoyed the afternoon..several months ago I had given myself a home perm, well this straight hair needed done again and didn't I find another..soooo I rolled my hair in rods, Noah did the solution pt.1 and pt 2 then I did my hair and it turned out fine..at least there are curls..so got a kick out of him giving grandma a perm..
Melanie just picked him up, she and Greg went out and bought Kyle a new snowmobile suit so they were running late..was laughing, here he was dressed in his new garb and still had the price ticket on his jacket..
So I am here, curled hair, p.j.'s on - said I would and didn't tell you but yesterday when we were shopping I bought new slippers just for my week at home..so dress code...p.j.'s/slippers...
Suzanne called and wanted me to go shopping tonight with her...the mall is having 'Midnight Madness' BUT I've had enough shopping..can't find the rec.room for gifts...if I go it's buy another for someone, then the gifts are uneven so it's off to buy everyone else more gifts so home I stay..must be a good movie on..am sure I'll be sleeping by 8:00 if not 7:00
Gita, I just love your Thanksgiving pieces...you made them? adorable...must share...
Oh my mouth is just watering after looking at that turkey..sounds as though you enjoyed your day...best part is left-overs...now that certainly is a bargain on those poinsettias, looked at some this morning but was on the run..will pick some up this week..
I had typed up the above post earlier today, forgot to press 'send'..
Oh Gita, love the turkey..done with large pine cone right? You are so creative..
I'm rather tired tonight, know Suzanne said she'd drop in on her way to town but I so want to go to bed!
Trisha, what kind of deals did you get at Michael's? I received an e-mail from them today (we don't get flyers anymore) advertising the cricut machine ... not only on sale but an extra 15% if bought this week..they didn't mark down on the flyer how much it is though..trying to get us in there and then surprise us...
Had hoped to hear from mom today on how her appt. with specialist went. Know they were coming to the cottage this aft. so most likely she's at Rama winning her bundle..lol..
Been nice visiting with you all..yawning here as we speak so of to get cozy...
zhinusmom,
Sorry! I really do not have any instructions on the turkey. I had to go from scratch on it as I had planned it for my little Craft Group last year.
You know--I see a picture of something----and then my brain says...."Hmmmmm--How can I make it?" Then I proceed to anguish over just what to use ans how to put it all together to make it look real.
I can tell you I used a large pine cone for the body and felt cut-outs for the wings and the tail--which were then covered in REAL feathers. Oh, it took a bit of imagination to visualize it all--but it turned our great!
Sorry--I cannot really provide you any instructions.
You are an awesome crafter---I am sure you can come up with something!
Here it is close up from last year when we made it. The head and neck where also a small pine cone painted off-white and a quad-folded pipe cleaner for the neck.
I had to really use my imagination doing this one......
Gita
Betty----------You have a package on the way--from me!
NO turkeys! NO Pilgrims....just something you really like anyway!
hmmmm...ta...dee...daaa.....hmmmm....dee dummm...dum!
G.
Didn't pay attention to too much at Michael's just needed to stock up on pics and bits I need for Santa's, a spotting brush, and Cedric's Sister CiCi is here (she has been at Michaels all alone) and needed a Sweater...lol..!!
Oh my! Would love to have video of grandson giving a perm!! That would be one for the family album (or show the girl friend in the future)!
Thanks Gita, that info and the picture, we should be able to work something out......you did a great job and they are soooo cute!! We will definitely have to make some for next year!
GITA-what are the beak and feet?? And waht about the pilgrims and indians?? I would love to make some for next thanksgiving:) I printed the pic of the turkey (thanks for the close up) and the bits of direction you gave:)
MORNING!!!!!!!!!!! Am I here B4 Betty?? WOWZERS!!!
You certainly are Stacey, been out shovelling, more to do...wow..lots of snow for this early in the season AND calling for more everyday this upcoming week..not sorry I'll be home in my p.j.'s..
Just got warm, not it's off to do more..front deck has to be cleared so I can put up the christmas tree...put the metal one together now I'm trying to figure out how to stabilize it in the ground..
So once I'm organized outside, will be back to play and respond to your posts...
A gift for me Gita? OMG I'll be at that post office every day..those girls have missed me I'm sure as I've not been in many swaps of late..am doing the secret santa steal today though that's why I MUST have everything done by 10am....
warm now, out I go...
fairy,
The beak I searched and searched what to use--then bought some kind of "plastic shape" thing at Michaels--a thick one--and cut out the beak and then split it in half--partially, not all the way through, lengthwise, so it would fit around the front of the head. The red is just some strips of velor.
Now--the head is a smaller pine cone that I painted an off white. The neck is 2 pipe cleaners forlded (all together) in 4's and twisted. The top part made into like a little "platform" to glue the head on to.
The legs were hard to create--but I settled on those unpainted, wood star shapes and a dowel.. painted them orange, drilled a hole in the back part of the star and inserted a piece of dowel in it. Voila! Legs.....Gluing them into the bottom of the pine cone was tricky, as there was nothing much to hold it in--so gobs and gobs of hot glue.
For the Pilgrim and the Indian maiden--I have directions in my Documents that I wrote up. Please D-mail me your real e-mail addy so I can send it to you.
OK. Gotta go to work! Gita
Back in, not overly cold, snow has stopped..so have all the outside trees decorated with light, the deck light on, deck tree decorated, my big wooden Victorian santa sitting in the snow..all are welcome...
I even put the music machine that all the lights are plugged into so they flicker with the tune of whatever sound is playing..will take a photo tonight...
So now it's the 'santa "steal" swap' best be moving.
