CLOSED: Fall Frenzy Piggy Swap #5

Edmond, OK(Zone 7a)

I'm snorting embarrassed to say that I think I've asked LeBug for something 4 times now. Oink oink.... Just got my HPS catalog and am drooling......

Edmond, OK(Zone 7a)

Speaking of the HPS catalog.....found a digitalis called "Elsie Kelsey" which I wanted to buy for my neice - she was named Kelsie after my grandmother Elsie. Well, I knew I've seen that digitalis before with a different name. Here is the HPS one http://www.hpsseed.com/dp.asp?P=%7B016B5C62%2DF1B8%2D44B7%2DBD3E%2D06CAD42FDBF0%7D and here is the one I found on DG http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/54595/ Do seed sources put their own names on plants?

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

critterologist, I have you down for Sea Pinks. That was a cool caterpiller gardengus. toofewanimals, I love your planter am sending photo of my piggies.
Maxine: May I have some purple poppy, blanket flower, hibcus med. pink, and english iris. Oink! That is if my piggy friends haven't beat me to it.
I use index cards too. It really helps me to keep track of who gets what, and how many I have left. I should start writing down seed collecting/storing/sowing tips on them too.
Still haven't figured out how to line out, so I'll still go in daily and edit (except for yesterday, 'cause I forgot).

This is what happens when you get lost on the way to the trough! LOL!

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

I just updated my list . I was out gathering seeds today, and found a ton of seeds on this plant that I have had for 5 years. I forgot its name - can anyone identify it and I will add it to my Have list ?. Thanks.

Maybe a Hypericum-St. Johns Wort (bright yellow flowers)?

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Yes, that is it! I remember now. Thank you so much. Bright yellow flowers and it has really grown. I have the seeds drying, are they something that would be worthwhile adding to my list? I also have this flower that I transplanted last summer never knew it's name either.
Thanks

Got a funny little story. I have the DR table covered with little baggies and drying seeds. DH came home and almost had heart failure wondering just what I was growing out there. No, I am not supplementing our income! Just a SEED Addiction.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

thank you!

GA, GA(Zone 7b)

LOL, Lynn! My parents came over for dinner tonight. My mom looked at one of my kitchen countertops that was covered in seed stalks, seed pods and plates of seeds and said "most people wouldn't want to eat what you've cooked in this kitchen because they'd think you'd put all those mysterious plant parts in it." We both agreed that it looked like I was a witch ready to make some brew! :)

(btw, I don't use that particular countertop when preparing food!)

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

LOL, Danita , I can just picture it.
Oh gosh, I use the countertops for both. I do clean them well - I thought.. Is that bad? I wouldn't want to feed any of us a poisonous seed.

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

I had to clean up my seedroom/greenroom/gardenshed....ahemm diningroom:-) because we are having company over for Thanksgiving. Some pretty linens and some mood lighting and no one will ever know :-) I could have watered that carpet and it would be really pretty in there by now. ;)

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

mygypsyrose, I'm a procrastinator - I still have a few days before I have to clean it (or Hide it). LOL, your floral carpet would be pretty. I have hardwood floors, but I was worried about what was going to germinate on me or in my pockets.

GA, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh yes, I do use those countertops for food but not when there is seed collecting going on and only after cleaning of course. Truth be told, I end up with little piles of seed all over the house and in my coat and pants pockets. I always have to check before doing laundry. Oh, not to mention the little paper seed envelopes in my car full of seeds I've snatched while out and about!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I discovered seeds in the outer pocket of my purse last weekend... remembered snatching them from in front of a restaurant a while back... Gaillardia, the ordinary yellow/red ones. :-)

GA, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh yea, the purse. I forgot the purse, they are in there too!

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

I would have waited but I have to clean the laundryroom...oops... Guest room :-P

North West, OH(Zone 5b)

I've not been online today and it looks like I'm behind again. I'm also still collecting, bagging, and cleaning.

Welcome newcomers! In case you've not found it there is a thread especially for listing your haves, wishes, requests and tagged seeds. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/923393/

I'm betting I've missed out but just in case - Maxine do you have any rudbeckia cappuccino left?

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

LOL! I love to see that Im not so strange! My DH is always after me for cleaning seeds and rooting cuttings in the kitchen. Also, I think I get more excited when I find seed tucked in my pockets than money.
Ive added a few odds and ends and I have updated my list.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Lynn-if you get any more of the Hot Lips Salvia, I would love it;)

's-Gravenhage, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

Maxine,
You can update your list by putting: "gone" in front of the name of the seeds.

Simpsonville, SC(Zone 7b)

Luckily no one was home yesterday for my kitchen experience. I had dahlia tubers to divide, and the light in our garage is currently blocked by a hanging kayak (argh), and it was like 20 degrees out, SO... never done this before, but how messy could it be right? I'd rinsed them off when I dug them... Well, turns out there was dirt stuck up in all sorts of places on those tubers, and wrestling with them with a kitchen knife knocked it all out!

Needless to say, my kitchen got an unscheduled mopping and thorough scouring after I was done with those :) There are more waiting to be dug, but I'm thinking that shopping for new tubers in the spring does sound better and better...

's-Gravenhage, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

Happens here all the time! DH is getting used to having soil in his food!

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

May I send extra seeds for the people who lost all their flowers in what ever mother nature threw at them?
I lost a lost of my flowers when a tornado hit us in 96. It takes a while to establish plants again and now I think or at least my DH thinks so, I should back off and enjoy what I have. I have an acre of flowers plus a very large veggie garden. He is saying you are an OLD lady!

Maxine

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh, they don't know that part of enjoying it, is still planting it. :-)

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

I believe that star is taking loose packets that will be distributed amounst the victims if you put a note in with them. That's what alot of people are doing

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Danita, may I please try your Hibiscus moscheutos 'Luna'? Also, I have a few 'Hot Portugal' pepper seeds (one of my favorites, and quite mild) and can put in a pack for you if you want to try them.

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

They have moved over to Page 6 http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/925613/#new
Wow! page 6 already!
