CLOSED: Fall Frenzy Piggy Swap #5

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

I thought we were at 34, but i could be wrong. I do think Lynn was the last one to jump in. I'll go back and do some reading.

ah -- i think #35 would be Gen2026, as she is not yet listed on the "master list"

I knew I was missing somebody! Sorry, Gen... I'll add you now!

hi salvia greggiis are not generous with seed...each one calyx might have a seed, or none or two, or three or four and the black ones are the viable ones..
so a few seed is fine.
im going to have to split packs with those requesting zinnia seeds i see theres more requested than packs available i hope that is ok
also i would prefer you Dmail me with requests..its easier for me to catch

Just finished topping off everyone's bags and I think I'm caught up again. And I'm happy to say that my seed bag is 1/2 the size it was when we started the swap. Woohooo! My plan is to send everything that's not requested here to Lorraine for the newbies. :-)

Critter I've not forgotten about all my seed/seedling images either. I've got a seperate file in My Documents full of pics to submit to Plantfiles one of these long cold winter nights.

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Finally home nd see the piggies all gathered roudn the trough.

We have Gen06 and Mawnature which I think brings us to 35 and also we have another Storm victim joining and that is Cannagirl.

I waitig to see which category mawnature wil go into as she in La an din the disaster area. She may be a victim instead of a regular.

if ya all think we have enough seed to go aroudn we cna take maybe one or two more regulars, but that probably gonna be about it.

There is no limit on the storm victims.

Gona go update new names too on my master list.

Pamsue - I think you had a lot of different zinnias listed than me, but if any of them are the same I've still got plenty.

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

I got you for the columbine,RatherBDigging.
Take care of yourself and your parents and we'll see you soon :-)

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

Star.... I found some petunia seeds while cleaning out my seedbox today :-) I marked them for you. Are you replacing an entire yard of grass with petunias or something? LOL

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

No I doing a school project with a bunch of children for Mothers Day and makign sure I see wish list filled that might be missed. But get other folsk first, cuz I cna always get some.

Matgaran.. do you stil happen to have any of the B/H Salvia Leucantha left? And also do you have any of the Sculetaria janicia?

Forgot who has it now but thought I saw somebody had pink and red or maybe it was just one of them colors of milkweed. Whoever it was do ya stil have some?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

If I can get 'Profusion' zinnias from anybody, I'm happy! I'm looking for pretty much any zinnias except cactus, in any colors except orange/red/peach/ (mix is fine, just let somebody else have pack of all orange, LOL). I'll have plenty by the time I hit up various sources, so skip me if need be!

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Criiter, I got some assorted Zinnas for ya. ; )

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

Hey, I am so way far behind, but I found the right thread this time. Is there any cat mint out there? Is there any catnip left. I'm going to try to keep up better. Will check back in a bit.
WIB,

New Braunfels, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm back after a spell away. Thanks for the patience and understanding on the greggii seeds. Thanks, too for the learning experience. I really am learning a lot. This is my first season seed collecting and it's great to get some help along the way.

lala
im not so sure i have more zins listed than you do. I do have some more but i havent gone thru all of them.

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

Sorry that I forgot to post my request from Critter....

agastache foeniculum Honey bee blue; Gaillardia Burgandy; and Penstemon smallii Beardtongue

I think that catches me up on what I have also requested by dmail. Thank you!!

Genna

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Cool. Looks like we may have some more storm victims joining us too. Soon as I get it finalized will let ya know their names. : )

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

SingingWolf, I've got you covered on the catnip, and Genna, I've got you down for those. Thanks for putting the requests on the thread... I seem to be better able to keep up here than via Dmail. :-)

I'm glad you're getting some responses from folks who can use some of these seeds! Anyone trying to rebuild their garden can have something I've "claimed" from somebody's list... I figure they've got "dibs" ahead of me! :-)

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

Robynznest, I've got you down for some of the wild senna, Cassia hebecarpa :)

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

critter... you said post on thread
so
May I have some of your alpine catchfly...jobs tears...and blue eyed grass.
Please
Cinda

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Cinda, I've got alpine catchfly (and will put you down for it), but somebody else had the others on their lists... Actually, I've got some job's tears seeds, but they are several years old and I suspect they are better to use as beads than to sow.

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Ok thanks I am only to you on the lists someone else may have them further down the line

I figured out what I did wrong ... It is what I get for doing this at night.

May I have some lemon peppers and penstemon smallii
Please ^_^

I am working from a spiral notebook with 14 pages of notes.
Would be of great help if I was more computer competent.

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Sometimes if there is a particular seed i really want, or know I saw it somewhere but can't recall where...

i do a "find" and search for it.

click the [Ctrl] button + "F" key, that will bring up a find box... in firefox browser, it's at the bottom of the window.
Make sure you click the "highlight" button ... then you can hit 'next' as it searches the entire document, or just scroll the entire page, as the term you are looking for will be highlighted.

I use it all the time and find it very helpful....

like if you are looking for when people ask YOU for seeds, you type your userID in teh box... then anytime someone had typed your name, it will be highlighted, and it's easy to track things....

oh -- hope i'm not letting the cat out of the bag on how i may seem so organized **Wink**

Terese

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Got you down for those 3, Gus! May I please try your pink swamp milkweed and bright pink balsam, if available?

SingingWolf, I would love to have some sea pinks from you, if they're not yet spoken for.

Thanks!

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

critter... I have your seed request tagged

tsc ... Thanks for the tip... now I will wright all that down on a 3X5 (step by step)and give it a try.Part of my problem is if I do not use something every day I just can't remember. I do believe it is harder to teach an old dog new tricks

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

my hubby uses index cards too. there is a box up in a cubby at our desk... it's got all the lil tips in there that he uses.
all of which i've walked him thru.... so, what ever it takes to make our lives easier.

well, been a long day... off to bed.

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

Star... That's a great project! I have enough to split the petunia's into a few packets. I'll mark one for you and throw some in loose to put in a victims stash too. Nothing with any names to them. Just a mix of a dark purple and dark magenta pink 'wave' style. The kind that spills over a pot.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oh, and something I just wanted to mention... VanEngelen is down to the last of their bulb sale, but I saw they still have 'Eye of the Tiger' dutch iris remaining. In my garden, these have been blooming together with Penstemon smallii, and the purples are just a perfect color echo. :-)

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

shhhhh! my pocketbook can hear you.

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

RatherBDigging, Our prayers are with you and your family.
TooFewAnimals, your little piggy is really a cutie, cute and brains!
Tcs1366, what is your "jar" tip?
Frausnow, I will put you down for everything you asked for, but Hot Lips and Black & Blue might have to come to you later.

I agree with everyone who mentioned smaller portions. Being a piggie, I am naturally drawn to the bigger portions, but in reality, I would rather have a bigger variety and less of each. Would some of you mind smaller portions of some of the seeds I am sending - Hot Lips, Black & Blue, Ruffled Purple Petunia in particular?
Also, being new to this, and the fact that my yard (5 acres) is begging to be beautified, I have a bad habit of wanting every pretty flower I see. So, if someone else wants seeds that I have asked for, please share my packet with them.
This has been so much FUN! I am busy planning the new flower beds made possible by DG. Thank you in advance everyone!

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

What a wonderful swap! I sent emails to Heavenscent, TCS, LaLa, Gemini, Maozamon, Mygypsyrose, Meredith, Danita, Thinkabouter, Cordeledawg, Cheles, Mamawk,Starlight,Critterologist, Wind, Perenninallyme, Robynznest, Lebug, Ratherbedigging, Pamsue, Frausnow, Kistuart,Toofewanimals, Margaran, Singingwolf, & Fairy.

Last year I started a small butterfly garden, with much sucess. This spring I will be expanding up to 4 acres, growing for butterflies, hummers, & bees. Thanks everyone for sharing seed with me and helping get my butterfly garden started.

Simpsonville, SC(Zone 7b)

cannagirl - I really need to change my username. Its klstuart with an (L) . You're not the first to do that I'm afraid. Just mentioning because I didn't get your dmail :)

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

>>Tcs1366, what is your "jar" tip?

Lynn -- this transpired the time Critter wrote her article on seed saving, and in the message section below the article, i commented on how I was saving seeds.

posted a photo of it somewhere.... i had my Longeberger basket filled with jars, a water bottle, a few baggies and my clippers and gloves.

For certain plants, say - Amaranthus, Celosia, Agastaches .... i would put the jar over the stalk/stem where the seeds would be, angle the jar towards the ground and give it a good shake, and all the seeds would fall into the jar.

I found for Coneflowers and Rudbeckia, i'd snip the seed head off and put the stem between my forefinger and thumb, and roll/twist it around, so the head 'bangs' against the glass, and all the seeds fall into the jar.

it actually made seed harvesting much easier this year.

My descriptions may not be the best... so i hope you got the gist of what i was explaining.
