I still say alimony is in order. And when your daughter gets over the hurt, she can get the last laugh!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

Good morning! Busy, busy day - popping in for a quick sistah fix. Has anyone ever lost their DFIL? I mean lost as in drop off in front of a building for a doctor's appt, park the car, go into building and realize it's the wrong building and he's no where to be found???? Geeeeesh. I nearly panicked. He's 94, not accustomed to finding his way around (DMIL did that), has memory issues, doesn't hear well, and no cell phone. How do you tell your DH that you've lost his father???? Long story short - he did find his way across a parking lot, through a parking deck, into the correct building and up to the doctor's office. He was already being seen by the doctor by the time I got there. We laughed about once we caught up with each other.

Donna, hope things work out with your DSD's. Sometimes having a big supportive family is a good thing (like Jaye's family), but something doesn't sound right about their circumstances. At least they are able to contact you.

Kathy, your daughter must be shell shocked. Or maybe suspected but in denial all along? It happens more than you can imagine. sometimes after many years of marriage. Hoping she is young and strong and can move on to find a stable happy life ahead.

BJ, good news about your lack of pain! At least you got a good night's sleep. That can make a big difference in itself. Still no word on your neuro appt?

Cindy, hate to hear you may not be around as often. Sure will miss you. With the holidays approaching it will be harder on us all to find the time and the money to do swaps. We probably all need to practice some self restraint - but it's so hard! I know I have to limit the number of swaps I sign up for. Would like to do them all but would end up over committing myself. having trouble getting it all done now. I think the stocking swap and 2009 swap are the only ones I'm signed up for now. Don't go too far, ok?

Deborah, that's nice that you are so close to your aunt. We will all be keeping her in our thoughts and prayers. There are a lot of us so that's a powerful force pulling for her! Let us know how she's doing, ok? And how you are doing, too, sistah.

Marion, how are you this morning? Is your temp normal yet?

Hello to all my other sisters. Wish I could stay and visit but have to prepare for teaching this afternoon. We are teaching the first year med students how to do a cardio exam. They've been to the lecture, now we walk them through it in an exam room. It's so fun. We are also teaching them how to use their stethoscopes for the very first time! He he - imagine that. There's always a first time, right? It's a real joy to work with them. They are so appreciative to have the opportunity to practice on us before working with real patients. They will be learning how to listen to heart sounds, find pulses, take blood pressure, etc.

Better run .... have a great day!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I was running a low grade fever last night, really felt horrible! I have a HUGE fever blister on my upper lip. DRS appt. tomorrow, I'll tell him! I think I have a sinus infection, maybe that's why I've not been feeling so perky!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Kathy, your daughter may be right about not moving in with you. I've been through that with my ex dil and her 2 boys. I got really attached to the boys, and she decided to leave! Left me crying. I never was able to get "close" to them again. So, please, be careful, keep a check on your heart!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

i would feel better if they came here so we can help her put her life back together, and get on her feet

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Back again and finally finished getting eveything prepared outside for the cold setting in. I thought I was going to freeze my toes off...

Kathy I am sooo sorry to hear about your daughter. Thats so sad and I bet she is really angry with him.. I will keep her in my prayers as well....

Bj glad to hear you got some sleep.. Thats important when your not feeling well. I think Im comming down with a buit of a cold and its not fun but I will make it.. Thinking I may make some home made chicken noodle soup from scratch. That should do the trick then a hot tottie before bed..

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Kathy I know you want to help her. We all want to help our kids. But sometimes the best things we can do for them is let them do things on their own, with our love, support and encouragement. I have always thought that the best gift we can give our kids as they are growing up is the ability to become independent adults. Adults who can make their own decisions and live their own lives. We are always there as a safty net, but an invisible one most of the time.
I was only 18 when married and once I got mad at my husband and left him and went home to my parents. We had dinner and watched TV and they were ready for bed. I said where can I sleep? My Dad said, OH, no...you are a married lady now and you have a home of your own and a bed of your own. Go home to your husband and work things out! I was surprised, shocked, angry...but he was right. I had to work this one out on my own and I always knew I had his love matter what.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Linda, I love the red one; I think that came out just about perfect.

Thanks for the congratulations; I was really surprised I got the 5th place in the containers, I almost didn’t post it. I defiantly wouldn’t have put it in my top ten. The bridge in the snow is in my top 5 pictures I’ve ever taken.

Debra, we’re doing pot luck this year. I like cook big things, but cooking all of Thanksgiving dinner is a bit over whelming.

Deborah, glad she did well last night, prayers going out for her getting better quickly.

Kathy, if you figure out how to bottle it let me know, I could harvest some from my DSD.

BJ, hope the pills help.

Marion, let me know if you want my medicine soup, it is barely edible, but does wonders.

Jaye, lol, would that be instant karma?

Phyllis, did you follow the past to room 2?

Jordan, I’ve known people that went through that. I feel sorry for your daughter, but it really is for the best; would you want her living with someone that can’t fully love him and would be living a lie? It’s often hard for people to come to terms with it, our society still doesn’t accept it, so you have to be pretty sure before making that leap. I’ve heard from several people that they got married hoping it would go away. I would be surprised if that was the situation. Try not to be too hard on the kid; it was likely almost as hard on him coming to the point of making the decision. Make sure that you let your daughter know that there is no way that this is her fault.

It would only be her if he was Transgendered.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am here!! No fever, but still don't think I will start any foot races or things like that!!! Feeling much better but will continue to take it on the easy side. Sorry Sistahs if I spread my "germs" to others. I didn't meant to!!!

BJ, hubby took the same medicine and yes it is wonderful. He has to take it after he came off his feeding tubes (was on 6 months) to help get his system working correctly. So happy you had a pain free night!! Been thinking about you!!

Deborah, prayers here even though I haven't been posting so you could know. Continuing for you both!!!!

Hello Sheila, welcome albeit a little late from me. Saw your post on the other thread. Tia, Tina Whatever is a really great person to know. Has she gotten you addicted yet?

Waving to Donna in Jax, you and my DD share the same birthday!! Will think of you tomorrow and share her cake with you. Hope you like chocolate!! Good to see you have been making contacts about everything and wishing you luck!! I am sure it is going to pay off for you and your family!!!

Linda Kay, post pictures of the leaf runner. That is one neat pattern--been thinking I might want to make me one. Foot surgery Friday?

Hello dear Jaye, you had better stay inside and keep warm!!! It is nothing short of cold outside!! Hard freeze here predicted for the next 2 nights. Guess I will add another kitty to the foot of the bed to stay warm-me not them!!

Kathy, I am so sorry but I, too, had to laugh. I do realize what a horrible situation this is for your daughter--just please don't let her think it is her fault. Doesn't work that way!!! I had several friends where I used to live that said their first marriages ended because he was gay. Prayers, thoughts are with all your family. Tough knowing just exactly what to do at this time, isn't it?

Waving to all I missed, that was a lot of post to catch up with!! Slow down so those of us who are "under the weather" can catch up. Not likely I am sure!!! LOL

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

marion, glad you are feeling better. you take it easy and rest today

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I need to get up and move around a little bit but trust me, I will not overdo it with the Holidays coming. I have no intentions of being down and being able to be with the "little Princesses"

You take care Kathy. Hugs for you and your daughter.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Welcome Sheila! Yayyyy.... I have a younger sister back in Singapore with your name ^_^ Tina-Tia has certainly guide you to the right 'sistah-joint'!!!

So sorry dearest Sis! So sorry that her kids will be facing a dad that had been lying all this time.

When I left my ex.. I immersed myself in work, no dates.. just work. Climbed out of the small trench and into bigger ones.. own office.. assistants.. perks. There was another engineer, just transferred from Va., that pursued me relentlessly. He's just divorced, has 3 grown kids and what a charmer. The only guy that caught my eye.
Well sistahs... a few dates later.. he laid out his plans. Said he wanted an equal status partner in his new life, wanted to do all the right things to go further up the corporate ladder, make sure the whole world sees us as the 'power couple'...blah blah blah blah...
Then he says, as far as sex goes.. that's for the minions..or common folks. We are "above" that.
Hold on.. that's what got me thinking.. then when he said if I chose to have 'affairs'.. it's okay with him.
Yep sistahs!!! He's gay!! AND hid it well at work.
I ran as fast as I can!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Sure can't tell a book by it's cover any more can you?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, don't try to do a jig. Stay warm.. let me send you some extra kitties for your feet!
Debra, you must be worried all that time. Thank God, his mind's working fine at that time.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh thank you so much for the kind offer of more kitties but we do have enough!! I only let one sleep in my room but with it being cold--2 might come in--or 3.

Nope not doing a jig--still dealing with some congestion and get dizzy.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Marion, sooo glad you're feeling better! It's about time, isn't it!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Marion, tskesome travel sickness pills! One should do it. I can't think of the name, OTC, though, (Old Timers Disease!)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Deborah, why is Lisa in ICU. You said she has diabetes, and you know I do too, so please if you don't mind sharing.
But if it's not up to you to tell us, it's okay.. for whatever her ailments may be, we'll keep on praying for her and you as well. I know she appreciates you being there for her.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Audrey, sinus can get us all down. I have that constantly. Was told to get a humidifier, don't know whether that would work.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Audrey. Would but I get really sleepy when I take those!! Jaye, how brilliant!!! I forgot about my humidifier--it does work but then I don't know where it is so ......may have to buy a new one.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Marion, glad to see you up. Just take it easy, no need to rush out for any races.

Yes, my foot surgery is this Friday, so we will have a nice and quiet Thanksgiving here, Just hubby and I.

I will post the runner, as soon as I get some of it together.

Welcome Shiela. Glad you came to visit us over here.

LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh that will be nice to see the picture. That is still in my "thinking" I might do area of my dizzy brain.

Planning a quiet Thanksgiving here also. Actually looking forward to just DD and me!!! After fixing 22 lbs. or bigger turkey for more years than I can remember, a small one will be wonderful. Getting excited about it as a matter of fact.

Off to do a few things then most likely a little rest time before dinner. Still not 100%--about 89 3/4 at this time.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

So good to see you Marion... sounds like you're on the mend... We'll put off the party till you get better so you can "do the jig" with us.

Well, once more... the pill did the trick... just had lunch... YIPPIE !!!
Man, I sure wish I had these about 6 months ago.

Welcome, Sheila...
Thank you Tia Tina for leading her way to us.

Ok, I'm going to get dressed... (finally)... and get Don packed for his trip this evening... then, maybe, just maybe, I'll go outside and piddle around a while, if it's not too cold.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

YEP I have her addicted to quilting, she is a chicken enabler ha ha ha ha. Like I need help. She is officially a SISTAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Shelia is good people.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

So glad the "pill" is working. Don't overdo it outside BJ. I am off to do a couple of things then rest for a while. Get tired easily now.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

If you keep moisture in the air you will breathe better. My mom has an insert in her fire place she keeps a kettle of water with some euculyptus oil in it, helps keep the sinus open.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Maid M. Get a turkey roll!! Breast turkey rolled around some stuffings already pre-made at some stores. Just left for you to bake.
Or order you a deep fried turkey.. one old Cajun favorites.. or a turducken!!
Kel's parents monopolized all our holiday dinners :D But, we do a quiet celebration at home first. This year, I'd love to get a smoked turkey.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Thanks Marion and Cindy. Will have to get one then. But I'm allergic to eucalyptus.. gives me severe headaches.
