Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Happy B-day gardenmart ^_^ I'm not having nearly the trouble with the months as I did with the voting.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I have a question......

Once a contest is voted on, all we can view are the winning photos. And--beautiful they are!

Is there a way to look at ALL the photos submitted once more? Not just this years, but from all the past Photo Contests as well.

Where do I go---what do I click on?

Thanks, Gita

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I'll hafta look again, but if you look at this year's winners, there's a link at the bottom for all the entries. As far as past contests, go to Extras on the toolbar on top and scroll all the way down to Dave's Attic, then chose photo contests and it will give you all the contests by year.

Congratulations to everyone... not only to the winers, but to all who entered such gorgeous photos.
Getting to vote in the yearly DG Photo Contest is one of my favorite things to do in Dave's garden!

Everyone should be proud of the photos they entered!

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

Congratulations everyone!!!

What a group of fantastic photos!

Port Charlotte, FL(Zone 10a)

Thank-you so much Dave and everybody involved in organizing this great contest. Not only was it fun entering, it was fun voting and just amazing having a winning photo! Sure made my Monday! I was Spitsmacked! haha (that's American for Dutch's English Gobsmacked definition! HA!). Thanks for all who voted for my crazy head family! It really was so hard judging photo's as I think they were all just gorgeous! Congrats to everybody who won and also entered!

Victor, Victor, Victor! I laughed out loud at your sad post! Now that you have everybody's attention, forget the hypnosis and suggestion tactics and just do some of that Subliminal stuff in next year photo's. I loved your photo by the way. Here it is with 14 subliminal Victors! hahahaha (yeah...14!)

Hi Dave,

I just tried the link to vote on this next years calendar....and I just get a message that says thanks we have enough votes? I thought it was going to be left up for a while? no?

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

never mind... I just found the other thread that sais you have enough votes ^_^

Marlton, NJ

Congratulations to the winners and all who entered!

Hi Dave, Since we're mentioning new things is there anyway we could possibly discuss seperating birds from general wildlife next year? (in next years discussion)

It's kind of like comparing grape seeds to watermelon. :-)

Melbourne, FL

I second that, Pelletory!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Congratulations to the winners of the first six catagories, wonderful photos. That is all I have seen so far. Took 30 min. to bring up those winners. I don't know what the problem is. Took 10 min for Domestic Pets to show completely, and from 5 to 7 min each for the next 5. This was the fourth time I have tried to look at the winners, and this time at 6:40 am. this morning.

Congratulations to all winners and especially to all who entered the photo contest. Participation is what makes it successful.

Pelle, I agree with your rationale. But, the argument can be made for some other categories, i.e. macro, black and white, etc. I support other categories but then a great deal of thought has to be given to the design of the calendar. Start brain-storming everyone .......

Pine City, MN(Zone 4a)

Congratulations to everyone who won, I can't get over how many amazing photos there were!

Cumberland Mtns, TN(Zone 6b)

Some of the pics are not there. am I doing something wrong?

it's like one of each group doesn't appear.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

claypa,

Of the 3 Hyperlinks, only the 2006 one had the option at he bottom to "view all entries".....
The other two (2007 and 2008) did not.

SO? Anyone have other suggestions?

Thanks, Gita

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

If you click on this link: http://davesgarden.com/contest/2008/ it will take you to the 2008 contest. If you click on a category, it will show you the winners and the runners up. At the very bottom of the page, there should be another link that says "Click here to view all entries in this category."

Thanks, Marylyn,

I guess what I was missing was that this was under EACH category---not under th WHOLE year's Photo Contest.

...tunnel vision on my part......

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Congrats to all! I noticed that almost all the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place winners and even the runners-up were multiple winners in different categories, proof that these winning photos aren't just flukes, (like most of MY best shots), but they are truly the result of great photographers!

Can't wait for next year!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

Hey, there's Nikki and Izzy again! They're getting their 15 min. of fame in early in life :-p

Lexington, MA(Zone 6a)

Thanks, Dave..again for a wonderful contest. Congrats to all who submitted beautiful photos for everyone to enjoy.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Awesome photos!!! Congratulations to all. I didn't have a chance to enter or vote this year, and I'm sure glad I didn't waste my time (entering). DH and I just oohed and awed as we looked through the winning (including runner ups) photos. All so very outstanding!!

I'm glad we don't have to try to pick the Best of Show from these. Impossible!!

Corinth, NY(Zone 4b)

Congratulations to you all, the talent is unbelievable. Wonderful shots!!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

What a field of entries there was this year! Time got away from me this year and I never entered anything, and didn't get to vote in all the categories. Looking through everything now, I see there was such a great assortment of shots. Wow! Congratulations, everyone!

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

Photography has come a long way on the forums in the last 5 years.
Congratualations to all and thank you to those who entered.

Titusville, FL(Zone 9b)

What would be REALLY interesting is to know what kind/type of cameras each winning photograph was taken with! :-) I'm in the market and Christmas is fast approaching.... and unlike Victor, I haven't blown mine yet :giggles:.

I have a simple Nikon Coolpix 7600 and I don't do any editing other than cropping.

Pass Christian, MS(Zone 8b)

LAK~Digital SLR, Nikon D40X, nice quality photo's, camera is relativly straight forward to use, but can be quirky sometimes. No editing done on my Photo - Pets, "Will you always be my best friend". There is some good comparison info online for what are considered the top selling camera right now, depending on what you are interested in using and how much you want to spend. Good luck!

Titusville, FL(Zone 9b)

Thanks Dutchlady and GardnerKett!! Anyone else?

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

SLR Canon Digital Rebel XTi, basic cropping, brightening if needed and sharpening with Picasa program.

Tri-Cities, WA(Zone 7b)

I'm still using the Canon S1 IS (I think the current model of this is the S5 IS). The lightening photos were taken with a 15 second shutter, with a half open aperture, and a bit of bracketing to find the right exposure level. I like this camera series because you can adjust every little detail when needed, or simply point and shoot and still get good pictures. The optics are really quite good for such small glass.

That said, I really want a Canon XSi... ^_^

Van Etten, NY(Zone 5a)

I use a Canon PowerShot S3 IS. It has served me well but I would like to upgrade someday a DSLR.

Greenville, SC(Zone 7a)

Nikon D80

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Iris, I remember way back when you had WebTV and started posting pictures. Man, has it been that long? And now you have a D80. It's good to see you posting.

New Hampshire, NH(Zone 5b)

I use a Nikon D100 (DSLR) if I'm trying to get a nice shot of landscape scenes (like Sleepy Hollow), but most of my garden pictures are taken with my Canon Power Shot (I think that's what it is) because it's much easier to lug around the garden.

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Hafta tell you when I get home from work-can't remember the number. I think it's a Canon S5 IS. My camera's not an DSLR. (Garden in June).

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Winter snow shot (and the majority of all I entered this year) was with the Sony H1 point and shoot. The water can shot was with my new Nikon D300.
