this is a picture that I used for "the weather" on Fri. last week. It was taken on that same day.

Northeast Gardening: Garden Photos - Part 44
good for you Jen & Candyce and yes they are.... so easy to grow... glad to spread my coleus addiction
Thanks JoAnn, that was logging in the area, but it was done about 55 years ago for the purpose of putting in the reservoir that is behind me in the picture. Shows you how water preserves things. It's odd that I even like a picture that has stumps in it, since there's logging everywhere around here, but I really liked the shadows that they produced that day. I'm so amazed that your fall colors and flowers lasted so much longer than mine did, and here you already have snow. Crazy!
When they say "hardy" they really mean it.Thats a geranium in the left.
There isn't much blooming really.
Yep, hardy, that's for certain!
The snow really makes your geranium stand out!
as soon as its light enough I'll photo some more snow.
Wow - the white stuff! Pretty - as long as it's there.
Very pretty! Keep it please!!!
OK
I agree. It's beautiful. But I'm not ready to see it in MY yard!
Shelly has the bloom.com photo today!
Congrats Shelly!!
Nice going Shelly.
Congrats! Shelly!
Looks just like the snows we received here, Jo Ann ..... very pretty.
I am not so shunning of the first snow falls ..... Love 'em! So clean .... so white ......
I must be the only one who has a good down winter coat and scarf! ;-)
Now, come March and I want to get out in the yard ..... TOTALLY a different story!
That's a nice, bright fuchsia, Shelly, and I love your weather pic. So, was that a part of the reservoir that was underwater before? Has there been a long, dry spell there?
Nice snow pics, JoAnn. I'm not ready for snow yet, either, but I guess it will come whether I'm ready for it or not.
Karen
Willie....smart people who live in New England do or should own a down jacket. LL Bean down jacket preferably....or at least Columbia! lol
Congrats everyone on the pictures in the photo contest. Some of the most beautiful were definitely the ones from NE gardeners.
And congrats to Shelley, too!
Thanks all, you're very sweet! And thanks to Victor who noticed it.... I had no clue!
Robin, I'm pretty much with you all in the lack of flowers in my yard. I have a few left on the porch, but that's it. But, between work and the street (neighborhood with lots of yards) where I work, I'm usually able to find something still going. I love that collage of yours with the osteospermum.
Karen, i love that setting with the barberry. Very pretty! Look but don't touch (the barberry :-p ). The year as a whole has been dry. This month, not so much, above normal. But, they drain the reservoir down low in the fall so as to be able to hold all of the excess winter/spring runoff. Anyhow, during the spring and summer, where those stumps are there is a lake. This time of year, it's just the creek that it was before the dam was put in.

Nice shots, Karen. I like the doggie!
For those of you with snow, I really hope that you enjoy it!!!..... and keep it!
congrats shelly on the picture -
please keep the snow i need next week to get the leaves up and finish my wall!
Good luck getting to the wall before the snow Bill!
Karen, I forgot one little bit if you're a history or nastalgic person. On the right side of that picture, below the treeline, you can still see the path of what used to be a road. It went to a homestead that used to be there before the dam was put in. About where I am standing, there used to be a small community.
Oh, I called DH to come look at the pictures of snow! So impressive and beautiful. Being from Boston, he's not as easily impressed as I am. lol Quick, get the sled, the skates (the garbage can lids?) We are so cold here in the N. GA. mountains. twenty eight last night and twenty one tonight. It never got to forty today. The winds were ten to twenty mph, so the roofers could not work. As a native Floridian, I realized that I am probably wearing an entire years wardrobe, in cloth, in one day. What a lot of laundry this weather creates!
Trees from the deck
Beautiful reds and oranges Laurel!!
I admit I like the snow but I am a skiier, so
