Oh, Celeste. He/she is sooooo cute. I don't think you will be able to get rid of it in the spring. They can be house trained. My childhood friend who now lives in a fancy house in GA. has trained her bunnies so they can stay indoors. She lets them out into a little fenced/protected area to do their thing, just like a dog. I think Lucky is pretty appropriate for a name. I'm just so glad that you rescued him (see...I think it's a he for some reason). Bless his little heart......as they say down here! LOL
New addition......
I think he / she should be named Magic! Magic the Bunny. Or maybe Honey - Honey, Bunny. As to guessing the gender - try putting the bun-bun at eye level and pull up his fluffy tail and see if there is a little cone or just a slash.
What about Puff? Madonna has cones...
Oooh, Pixie---I'm such a push over for any small furry animal--love the bunny! I'm sure you'll keep him! I'd call him Snow, but then I don't live in Maine! You may not want to be reminded!
I'm in LUV!!! It's so cute. I also think you should keep Harvey as he/she won't survive in the wild with his/her colour.
My first thought was Harvey also, but what if it is a girl? Hopefully it won't get as big as Harvey. LOL
Just the cutest!!!
So far we have:
Lucky
Magic
Honey
Puff
Snow
Harvey
Casper (couldn't resist)
Katahdin
Wiscasset
Shau bei (little pearl)
Boo

Katahdin or Wiscasset
OOH, Maine names even...very clever!!
Well with those little upturned eye corners she (too cute to be a he) looks a little asian. How about shau bei (not so sure of the spelling- sounds like oww with an sh and buy)? Years ago I had a special white kitty and a wonderful oriental couple told me that it was chinese for little pearl. Truly this bunny is a tiny treasure.
oh Celeste he/she is so cute... so adorable... I love Casper!
tetleytuna that is a lovely thought! I will pass it by DH.
Whatever you name that adorable baby, I'm lovin' him/her!!
Pixie, if you look very carefully under the tail you will soon be able to tell if a boy or girl. A lot of domestic rabbits are mature in 30 to 60 days.
Rabbits make good pets and can be house broken.
Good luck with your new child.
John
Here's everything you wanted to know (or didn't!), Celeste.

How about "BOO"
Just thought I would add that.
John
That was more than I cared to see!
I know - especially the 'wink'.
Cute bunny pixie! Nice save. Strange that someone would let a bunch of domestic rabbits loose. I've just never figured out people and their dumping of animals.
You gonna keep it;) Do you have a sweet little hutch for that cutie?
Gee thanks Victor...a wink huh? Just great, my life get's more ummm 'interesting' all the time!
Thanks John, I like Boo.
Hi Mag! Yes I will keep it until at least spring then DD may take it. I offered it to her for my grandaughter who will be one next month.
I had a Satin Dwarf Rex named 'Annie' for 6 years, she was already 2 when I got her so I still have her cage. This little one is going to float in it at the moment but I have no doubt it will grow into it. The cage is actually a large dog pen with removable tray bottom for easy cleaning. I had a issue about Annie not having enough room in the 'normal' size cages so I bought this huge thing. She had plenty of room to run around and excersise. I can also take the bottom out of it in the summer and let her dig and eat in the grass. This merits watching as Annie dug herself right outside of the cage a few times. Thank goodness she didn't wander very far.
That sounds great pixie. What a great surprise gift for your granddaughter, if mommy says yes ;) Who could turn down a face like that? Do they tame nicely if they are held a lot when they are young like yours? When I was a kid I babysat angora bunnies. I still remember how soft that fur was....little did I know, they also had short haired bunnies that they turned in to stew. The day my mom told me that, I think I just about fell over. Lol!
My older brother looked at it and said.."I haven't had rabbit for a long time, but there ain't enough there to feed a cat." I was mortified which is the result he was hoping to get! He's still a brat at 61!!
Annie loved to cuddle in my neck and it seems this one is no different. DH was out hunting all day came home and ate his meal while I fed the little bunny. Now look at them.......
Awwwwwww. Harvey - is there a feminine version of that? Harvina or something? I always use family names, even with pets, lol. Like Iris the cat replaced Lily the cat. (Same family.)
What a great picture!
Great shot of the hunter!
See, Angel is definitely related to Annie and could be Angela or Angelo. Angie?
Hard to believe he hunts..animals are all over him! lol
Romeo was brought up with Annie which is why he's so comfy with the baby bunny.
I love that picture, Celeste! That is going to be one very secure little bunny. I'll bet he/she will always be a cuddler. I had a puppy I rescued that always liked to cuddle because I nestled him into my neck when I drove him home. He loved to do that until he died at 15.
Awe, thats so sweet Louise!! I had a crook in my neck after an hour of cuddling with him this afternoon...I can't imagine 15 years! lol
It'll just fly by, Celeste!! LOL Boy do I miss that sweet dog!
Have you chosen a name yet??
Nope not yet. I still don't know it's gender but I haven't really looked. The 'wink' turned me off! lol
Hee hee.
Is "cat food" in contention?
LOL Dave! Nice to see ya...you've been missed. ^_^
Yeah, Dave! What's up with you????
Cute picture of the hunter & his companions! The woman who sits next to me in writing class wrote a Thanksgiving story---her father & uncles would hunt on Thanks. morning, & whatever they shot, that's what the family had for meat---they always had antipasta & pasta--she said when she was about 10 she cried until her Mom bought a turkey!
Interesting story!
It's traditional to hunt during holidays in several European countries for the regions who favor game. It's the time families come together. The men go off hunting and the women are in the kitchen preparing side dishes and counting pheasants and wild boar. Then the men come home and do all the dishes. (I made that last part up).
Laurel
tee hee .... and make brunch the next morning....
