The sun came out today and there wasn't a bird or a squirrel to be found, not flying by, not even bird song. Finally, this Red-bellied stopped at my tree. There must have been a hawk around somewhere. This pic isn't so great of the woodpecker, but I love the vine that's turned red that's growing on the tree.

Rose, your photos are just breathtaking like always!
Nanny, congrats on 99!
Great photo burn.
Mrs. Ed, love that pine siskin photo. Great article too.

The wing bar is shorter on this one too which fits the Lesser Scaup...so I am making a call...#99 Lesser Scaup.

Will go back to see if I can find it again for a better shot too. But that will have to wait for Sunday as we or supposed to have 35-40mph winds tomorrow with temps in the 30's.

Not a great Northern Flicker shot from yesterday.

You are sooo funny rose!!

Resin says that mine is a Sharp Shinned Hawk Mrs_Ed so maybe yours is a Coopers because mine seems to be lighter in the breast area than yours. Mine was right outside my window watching a cat. BEV

Ah yes, I think Resin confirmed coopers for me previously! i'd like to see these side by side someday!

Margaret, I love those swans!
Elphaba: that yellow-ish bird looks like a warbler of some kind. One of those
that Fielding calls "confusing fall warblers". :) It sure resembles our Pine Warblers. (Edited to add: Ah! I see the expert
did I.D. your bird and - way cool - I was right! Yahoo!)
Methodical: Nice shots!

Ooops - gotta pause for a phone call - will finish catching up shotrtly!

Perhaps an immature male Painted Bunting....I can see some colors coming on an otherwise green body.

I'm going to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone for the great pictures in this thread...and take us onto a new one. I'll end this one with a Blue Jay.
