Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

I hear ya Kitty and Peg too, i am just mad that Adm deleted a negative comment from me to a vendor, she deserved it. I wonder If i can post it again, but you know what, it is not worth it! i ordered seeds from the new coop recently and i am waiting fro shipment, will stay away from private coops though, not worth my risk or time!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Howdy Clemen and Peg! Clemen I do love my little "heaven". It is so nice all heated and cozy. I have a little 5 inch t.v. in there and have even played with the idea of a coffeemaker, LOL! Sometimes I just go out there and sit, and look at all my pretty plants. Now I can understand why men always like having a workshop, or somewhere they can get away to, hehe! Maybe read a book there this winter.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Wolfie, wish i could help you with those cuttings, i have some of those but they are babies!

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Take a pic Karen, wanna see!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Wolfie for some reason I was thinking you had bought some of those named Brugs from the recent coop? I thought I remembered seeing your order? No red Iochroma here, but I do plan on ordering one in the spring, or seeds earlier..

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL, I will tomorrow Clem if you really want to see it. It's certainly nothing special but I love it out there ^_^

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Your special place is special, so is my bruggie heaven, nothing to write home about but makes me happy everytime i see it!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hehe, check out ALL the colors of Iochroma! On next year's must have list for sure!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

My whole post just disappeared.

Okay, trying again, I am glad the coops are back. I have been in several and had a good experience. If you get in a coop run by Angl or Cat, you will have fun.

Kittylover, a fungal infection? I hope and pray they find out what is going on.

Donna, (Donnita) sweatheart, please send your ornament and I will go back to plan #1, which I should have stayed with in the first place. Mine is not painted, it is a rub-one stencil, and if you have painted one, I want her to have yours.

Werewoflie, I am getting ready to make my last cuts on my named brugs. (yellow, double white, peach and double pink This is my first time doing this. I took earlier cuttings and they are all nubbed, leafing and potted, and I am keeping them for replacements or sending them to newbies. Poor Bonnie sent me so many, and I killed them all. Bad brug momma here. But right now they are working. But Wolfie, I need your address. The box you sent the MG bushes in, I used to clean up a shattered pie plate that my daughter did by accident when she visited. And your DG address does not help! Ornery!

If anybody wants one of the MG bushes, let me know, and I will try to wring it out of Keith's hands because he is so impressed. Wolfie, you did good! Thank you.

Sometimes, with all of us, life gets demanding, but it is nice to come here and enjoy!

3:00 am wakeup here, ZZZZZ Peg

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Beautiful Karen! I want the blue ones, since noone believes me about a blue brug, grrrrrrrrrr

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

I am sooo glad to see a lil action on the "BA's"...lol... feels soo good, and that we really are going back home!!
Esther.. I am glad you are getting what you wished for on the coop. I too have never even ordered from it. Guess I didn't like the risk involved, and i would rather buy locally, so if it died, I can get a replacement.
Karen..I bet today was a wonderful day to just sit back in your GH and watch the rain. Such a nasty day!
Peg... LOLOL... I have been trying my hardest to get my ESP focused to "see" what it was you edited... hehehehe... so far it ain't working!!
wolfie... sorry I don't have any of those, that you are wanting, but as soon as I figure out all the ones I have I'll dmail you
Clemmie.. what did you have for supper... I might still be hungry..lol

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Ouchie peg, how do you do it, wake up at 3, nooooooooooooooooo for me. Would love to try a morning glory bush cutting, let me know what i need to send you, postage, cuttings????

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Girl if you like spanish food, well i made nicaraguan style black beans, white rice, carne mechada (shredded beef with onions, peppers, tomatoes with my spices), salad, and fried white cheese (not fried, just cut it up and trow in the microwave)
So coming over still or the beans too heavy for ya?

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh my Lord, melted white cheese! My favorite! I can just eat it melted with chips. Everything else sounds great too. We had leftovers.........sigh.............Peg I have no idea how you can keep those hours, it would kill me. Cookbook won't be too much longer I hope

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

What's your specialty K girl? I love seafood over here!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Karen, (Hugs) you don't need ESP, somehow it took out all but the first line of my original post, and it did not make sense, so I edited it out and rewrote it.

Clem, I will send you a morning glory bush, behind Keith's back. Just teasing, LOL. He has never even seen this plant, but he cannot believe how good they are growing. Watch your mail, mi querida señorita. No senora for you! Soy una anciana señora a fin de obras para mí. (Translation: I am an old lady so senora works for me). Or I hope that is what is says.

Seriously, 3 am. Out of here.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Senorita you and me and young and beautiful, since we cannot say our favorite word, lol!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Clem, I am old and hopefully well-preserved. I do my best.

nite, all, seriously.......

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Clemen I have two seafood specialties....

COCONUT SHRIMP
1 1/4 cups flour
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
3 tsp. Cajun seasoning (Tony Chachere's)
1 cup shredded coconut
1 lb. shrimp (20-25) jumbo

Marmalade Dipping Sauce
1 jar orange marmalade (1 cup)
4 tsp. stone-ground mustard (with whole grain mustard seed)
2 tsp. prepared horseradish sauce
dash of salt

In a bowl stir together 1 cup of flour with 1 tsp. of Creole seasoning. In another bowl stir together eggs, milk and 1 tsp. Creole seasoning. In a third bowl stir together remaining 1/4 cup flour and shredded coconut. Place shrimp in a bowl and season with last remaining 1 tsp. of Creole seasoning. Dip each shrimp first in flour, then in milk-egg wash, and then roll in coconut-flour mixture until coated. Drop shrimp into hot cooking oil and fry until golden brown. Serve with dipping sauce.

SHRIMP BROCHETTE
1 lb. Jumbo Shrimp, peeled and butterflied with tail remaining raw bacon, cut in half. 1/2 slice for each shrimp
2 jalapenos
1 T. paprika
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 small pkg. Monterrey Jack cheese
mesquite chips
wooden skewers, soaked in water.
Wash and seed jalapeno, and cut into a pieces about 1/2-inch X 1/2-inch squares. Cut slice of cheese into 12 small pieces. Stuff one small piece of cheese and one small piece of jalapeno into each shrimp. Wrap each shrimp tightly with bacon piece. Skewer on the stick. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle seasonings on to your taste. Grill on hot coals sprinkled with wet mesquite chips for just a few minutes on each side. Do not cook on a really hot fire as they will burn the bacon on outside and not cook the shrimp well. Serve with hot melted butter.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

mmmmmmmmmnnnnnnnnn delicioso, i will try one of those soon, specially the jalapeno one! Love cooking, do it everyday of my life and the family enjoys it! it looks like you are the same!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Clemen the jalepeno one was my favorite dish at a Mexican food restaurant in Dallas, only place I ever had it, and I figured out how they made it. It was served with Spanish rice and refried beans. Yummmy

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Rico, are you writing a book to sell somewhere or just for fun?

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

mnnn that sounds soo good... I bet even with a recipe something would go wrong for me.. guess i just need to be invited for supper...
NITE Peg... sweet dreams

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

It's the cookbook I created, printed, and bound for my two daughters last Christmas. I am working on creating an Ebook of it that all of you can have to use...

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

You can come for supper anytime you like Beckyboo! Clemen cooking for others has always been a great joy for me, I love to see people enjoying what I cook.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Evening everyone, ohhh Bonnie I am salary there is no time and 1/2 doesn't matter if I am there 24 hours. Actually started at 5am and left at 7:15pm, then stopped by Moms, and then on home. My resolution to work less hours is working about as well as giving up diet pepsi, and watching what I am eating. I am saving some money tho.....ok I am going to get back on the band wagon, I have just tettered off a little, so back on the eating thing and drinking water.

Oh so glad you posted about the ornaments, I need to get busy....have it figured out and should be able to get it done on one bad weather weekend, which should be this weekend...LOL

Soooooooo glad the coop is open again. I really like shopping off of it. I also do yahoo and it seems to be a real good place to purchase plants.

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

Hey sleephead wake up! LOl If I cna awakened at 2:30 in the morning , I need towakesomebody else up. Actually would have poste dbefore now, but darn computer decided to do an update and a restart. Why is it always when ya in the middle of typing important chat?

Plenty of fresh coffee made for everybody.

Karen. I got a few seeds too and need to start em , but scared to death I will kill them off.

WereWolf send me dmail with your addy.

I haven't looke dyet at the link for th enew Lochroma, but I did get some blue and white one s from off ebay. They shouldn't have been by the charity auction brug pic for me to see. Nver grown em, never seen them but they look interesting. Hope I cna try an dget some germinated. They not a cheap seed . They have a rainbow of colors on ebay. I had bid on some more , but didn't understand this part.

I lost the ebay bid, but was offered a secodn chance for the lochromoa's. The second chance bid was the same price as what the one person who bid against me was. But they have lots mor eof these offered for the first lower bid price. I didn't do it, but din't know if I bid on the lower priced Lochroma sinc e they the same color and if nobody else tries for them, will I get that ebay bid or wil they charge me the secodn chance price? Anybody know much about that kinda stuff?

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Morning All... Coffee's good Star...always better when someone else makes it..

If you we're offered the Lochroma for the same price it went off at you don't have to accept it
You could go ahead and bid on the lower one and if it stays lower you'll get it for that price...but there's no gaurantee that it'll stay lower...Don't know how many times they'll do the second chance offer..Haven't sold on E-bay since 2005

I usually don't have luck with seeds but so far i'm doing alot better than I usually do...
With the Plumies I planted 9 and still have 8 alive...So Far...
I got 2 hibiscus sprouts up but they look pretty frail so I'll have to check on them more often...you know more than the usual 10 times that I do...LOL Haven't seen the Bruggie yet this morning...But Peg did share her Red seeds with some of us so i'm still waiting on them to sprout.....nothing yet...
I'm not using grow lights or anything just have them in the window and some are on a heating pad....Other than the Plummies The ones that have germinated haven't been on the heating pad just sitting in the window...

I turned in early last night...So I missed out on alot of yummy talk..
I like lots of Spanish/Mexican foods don't know if their the same??
As for seafood..I like Shrimp and Lobster but not much else..
Never could aquire the taste for crabs...But had fun when I lived in NJ catching them...
Tried the scallops wrapped in bacon but didn't like them...
The DH likes Oysters..well I guess I like them too ;- )

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Good Morning!!! running a bit late..cya : )

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Morning Kim...

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

morning everyone.. off to work.. have a good day!

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Morning all,

Ella thanks for the coffee, I’ll have to grab a cup to go. Oh boy I slept later than I thought I would and have an early Chrio appt this morning so not much time for DG. Peg don’t change your ornament, I think 2 watering cans are fine, it was bound to happen if we were going for a gardening theme. Mine looks very different and will have a small pkg. of seed sticking out of the top. Yours is so cute and I’m sure she will love them.
I have just enough time for a quick shower, and will have to run out the door with wet hair. I think I will schedule these appointments a little later next week. Have a great day everyone.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Good Morning my friends.. went shopping for the rest of my ornament parts yesterday... too tired to get on here last night. Star, GREAT coffee! Phyllis, don't give up on your brug seeds, they take a long time sometimes.. 6 wks or more.. patience.. Everyone have the greatest day and Joyce, you work too much! lol Here's a Monster White Bloom, she's a real bloom machine, thx again, I just love her.. AnjL, my feet have instructions printed on them "may be necessary to insert into mouth on occasion". I think we all feel a little apprehensive or over-conscience of what we post these days, it's part the new dg way, I guess. Not as comfortable as I once was, but maybe I'll get used to it, change is progress, right? eh? I'm glad ya'll got the coop back. I was wanting to participate in Cat's label one if she does it again in spring..... gotta go! Donna, morning gal! Missed seeing you here this a.m... hope you are getting some rest.
