You would wonder why Audrey it's safe to consume in USA and not in Canada...different rules/regulations I guess...now what are you up to today?
I'm starting to get a little more than tired of santa faces..ledge has 8 more faces to paint, and velvet to gather...it's like that each year with all my workshops..get tired/tired of them by the time they are done..lol
Then I have the classes and so enjoy seeing everyone happy..can't have it both ways right...

Oh My goodness, so sorry to hear about the allergies you all have. I had only one allergy problem that lasted for 4 days. Whatever was growing in the Grand Tetons, just did not like me...Sneezing, itchy watery eyes the whole thing, Man that was awful! I hope you all can find something that helps get through all it. DH suffers from some allergy in the Spring. He takes Benedryl...
Wonderhug, You sound really good!! I am glad. Well, while you wait for packages, will be nice to work on a few other things. I am so glad also that work is going well.
OK...Liz, LOL gotta back up here...While I understand about smoking, you know I smoke a ton...But BETTY, want you to know when I found out our "Brat" was smoking again, I did shake my finger, hand to hip and I did get to scold her via TXT MSG. LOL, thought I slid out of that pretty smoothly, but since Liz asking for help thought I would clarify....Now i just hope that Very soon things will calm down and You'll put them down again. You did it once and CAN do it again..K- thats my lecture.
Your story about the "rat" sure had laughing early yesterday and Like Betty, I can so see your reaction and visulize the War!! Go get em girl!
Speaking of smoking, here is a good Story, My eldest sister, Smoked for years and years...and i am talking many packs in a day. Well, not sure what triggered but one day about 10 months ago she decided enough was enough and has NOT touched one since. She looks awsom, feels awsom. I am so proud of her.
Bev, Did you get to talk with Fred?
Fairy, Good news in the job hunt...Knowing they got your resume, I mean...Will keep praying one right up your alley will Call you!

Crissy, you have me laughing!
Hi Judy..you at work or at play..know you are much like me, play at work and work at home when should be playing right? (probably doesn't make sense) but you know what I mean...
So dreary out..when I answer my phone half the time I say good afternoon..yikes it's only 11...so must look at the clock each time I answer as not to confuse all..
Went through my files, have so many cute things that if you just didn't have $$$ but wanted to give someone something they would fit right in..
must copy and past a few...lol
Judy, know you smoke but it was Liz who fought so hard NOT to smoke and she's back at it..Jeff won't let me lecture him so might as well do it to Liz
Here is a cute decoration to give someone...lol
Take a small jar and add water, buttons, eyes, carrot nose, and a plastic hat. Attach to poem to the top of the jar.
The Melted Snowman
Last night I heard a knock -
It was a snowman outside my door
Asking if he could come inside
And play upon my floor...
"Oh", he cried, "What I wouldn't do,
To sleep in a big, warm bed!
But, I'm forced to stand outside,
In the freezing cold instead..."
Next thing we knew, a cold wind blew
Mr. Snowman right through my door,
And now there's nothing left of him,
But a puddle on the floor...
That's cute Betty! LOL I still can't remember what I was going to say!
Here's another..cute for a neighbor..
Dustpan Cookies
Get a new dust pan and fill it with your favorite holiday cookies. Add a crumpled cookie on the top and wrap with plastic wrap or cellophane and tie with ribbon or raffia. Add a poem to it.
I was in a hurry,
'Cuz time was running out.
I'd baked a batch of cookies for you,
And when I turned about,
I saw they'd fallen on the floor.
It made me want to shout!
How could this happen at this time,
When time was running out.
I couldn't throw them in the trash,
Whatever could I do!
I quickly swept them in this pan,
And rushed them off to you.

Cookie Cutter Poem
Place a cookie cutter in a baggie and attach this poem:
I made a plate of cookies,
to share with you this year.
I thought it was a good way,
to spread some Christmas cheer.
They all looked so tasty,
so I thought I'd eat just one.
And a little while later,
I noticed there were none.
So here's my Christmas greeting,
and a cookie cutter, too.
Now you can make your own cookies,
and maybe share a few.
Betty, those are sooo cute!!
Bet Bev you are still walking on air...we'll keep praying that all works well for him and that his needs are met..
Lovely fall flowers...
Cindy and LeeAnn had some running around to do for Paul so we'll be on a later lunch, which is ok with me, brings us closer to going home time...we're making another quick trip over to Ganz while the sale is on...
Probably late getting home..we're stopping off in Barrie, me Michaels and Suzanne the grocery store...then we're going to one of the Bradford Greenhouses..mega Christmas decorations and christmas embellishments..only think I want is cedar rope for my front deck, nothing more, let's hope I don't find anything..do want to look though to see if they have any Christmas tree or decorations that are solar for Rogers' grave...
Carol you still swimming? Gita, still waiting for those 'wedding' photo's..was on a site Gita that said every bride/groom should receive 12 ornaments..told you what to buy and the tradition behind each..can post if you want...know you say you don't do 'christmas' all up such as I but this year you will right? lol..got you started witht he santa I hope!
Hello To All - Everyone sounds so busy. Betty is finally rubbing off on us and we have her busy-ness bug. ha-haBusy Betty, the name suits.
Finally decided to read this thread first off today instead of waiting until I was too tired to read and get almost a week behind and no catching done then. I am not sure what all I may have missed, so may ask questions if topic is going somewhere that I know nothing of.
I began going through shopping bags yesterday and bagging up individuals gifts together. Now all that I have to do is grab each person's bag and wrap what is in them. I am hoping that starting early enough this year will allow me to get things done and not feel too stressed by the day that Christmas gets here that I am too tired to enjoy myself.
I am going to try and put tree up the weekend following Thanksgiving. That is earlier than usual for me, but just ready for the holidays this year I hope.
This afternoon there are some plant seeds that I want to get together and send a couple of folks who asked for them. I also have several cards to write and get in the mail also. I don't have to worry about cooking dinner because I made a huge pot of vegetable beef soup yesterday which will last at least through tonight's meal. Hmmmm.....just thinking that if I get tree up and gifts wrapped, maybe I will then have some time to do Christmas baking. I make an applesauce cake that is out of this world yummy. I am sure that there are several people on my list who would enjoy receiving one.
Everyone take care and enjoy their day.
Ruby
Enjoy your day too Ruby. I'm just sitting here at work, trying to be busy but I'm not so it's kinda difficult, wishing I was home working on my Santa. Oh well, I'm getting some shopping ideas anyway LOL
Hello, waving Ruby..I always so love your posts..look forward to them as I do with all of them..busybetty..lol..got me pegged..
Ruby when I lived on the lake and the boys were younger I went out after Christmas and bought Christmas material and made a large, maybe twice the size of a garbage bag with pull ties for everyone I bought gifts for...then throughout the year as I purchased a gift for someone into the bag it went..even put a plastic sleeve on the front that I inserted lined paper and as each gift got added I put what was in the bag...always knew exactly where I was...
You make so many homemade soups, I'm envious...nothing like a hot soup to make one feel special..grandma always had soup for me..guess that's why it warms my heart to hear you say it...
Ruby, when Stacey, Janice and I were in Frankenmuth, at the entrance of the Christmas store was the most beautiful tree decorated for Thanksgiving..you should get it put up, decorate then you would only have to take the decorations off and put Christmas ones..lol..sounds like a plan...
Crissy, not being busy at work is rubbing off on you! enjoy..
Hi, I'm back.
Oh Crissy, I sure can relate. Although this afternoon i am working on final touches.
Can't wait to see your Santa.
LOL, Betty, Yep in the office. Took all morning to get caught up in the threads.
This afternoon, took a walk around kept eyes peeled for small branchs.
Was nie to leisurley drive in this morning. Thoughts on all the different santas going on in my head.
You asked, a couple days ago about what we are all doing for the holidays. Well, we finally figured out that we will stay home. Have IL's over and probably cuz joyce.
who ever else want to join us for the day. Yikes this means I have to now clean craft table! will work on that this weekend. The kids all voted to stay home for the Christmas holiday too. We will have the "big" family gathering a week before, because of the different happenings it just makes it easier. This year the only difficulty is Julia, works through the holidays so she won't be going with us. It will be the first time ever in her life she won't be with us, or us her. Not sure, at this time, but she is thinking about it too...She is liking the extra hours and will loose that and maybe even the job. Don't want that so most likely she will stay behind. Sigh.
LOL...We had a discussion on gifts, you know what do you want? We decided on a family item. Each gets one big gift and shold we want to extend a smaller one that would be ok. LOL, I said I want only one thing, not a laptop but that really cool weed puller everyone can chip in and i will be delighted for the next season. They all looked at me like I was nuts. What can I say, i really have everything of importance, don't need clothes, oh and a really cool stocking stuffer for me... International calling cards would be awsom!! LOL and they all agreed on that one.
I am going to decorate earlier this year so we can enjoy them. Last year We only put out a few things.
Hi Ruby, Glad to see you. Yumm, your applesauce cakes sounds good! Had a good friend who make banaba cakes and them as gift, they were really good too. That a nice gift, I bet your kitchen wonderful with baking goods.
Well, see you in a bit.
Waving Hello Carol, how are you?
I love Christmas cause of all the lights and the whole thing. I'm going to decorate a little more this year too, mainly because we had just moved in last year so we didn't do much, Christmas tree and indoor decorations but nothing outside. I'm not going to be able to put lights on the house again because there are still no gutters, but that's alright, I can light up everything else LOL!
Family decision Judy sounds well though out..know that when everyone only has a specific amount of time and with travelling to Florida taking at least 5 days (there and back approx) doesn't leave much for relaxation..
Things do change when you the kids begin working..with jobs scarce, better she stay and work her schedule...
It's nice when you and family can sit together and discuss a process for gift buying..we would do that as well but guess who after all was said and done would change the game plan without them knowing..come Christmas the tree would be piled with gifts and I'd get the what for..
Only time we did a family gift it the 1st Christmas after Roger died..we bought a hot tub for the basement..all were please, especially ME/ME/ME!
Oh Yea! I'm going to build a deck for a hot tub. I've heard they are very difficult to clean, is that true or just someone not wanting to maintain one?
It takes about 4 days to drive to California, I always fly. I've never done the family gift thing, probably because my families (moms and dads side) were always arguing amounst one another. Dave wants to stay as far away from his family that he can, and all I have are my parents, dad's 6 hrs north and mom's 6 hrs west, so that won't happen. I buy something for dad with free shipping and have it shipped direct so I don't have to wrap it or anything. I just call them and tell them they have a package coming and they CANNOT open it until Christmas, literally. My mom obeys the rule but I have to call Dad's girlfriend so she can inforce it LOL
Receipe for the applesauce cake, please, Ruby!!!!
HI girls,
Just getting caught up here.
Waving back Judy..Grins.......))))))))))))
Vicki..so happy for you and your ssi that they got all the cancer.
Betty..finally you will get that earache cleared up with the meds.
Yes, I am still swimming. I went today..then afterward I got my hair cut..and then a few groceries..had some lunch..very late..and here I am again.
Bye for now,
Carol
Yes Betty, I just want to be sure you have your ear medicine, you can lose your hearing from an infection.
Will be getting it this aft. - dropping in to pharmacy on my way home...
Carol, you are a busy girl..I had wondered what would fill your day once all your beautiful gardens were put to bed..I need not have worried had I? lol I so need a perm Carol, just need to find a beautician who offers perms late at night or Sunday..so funny..if I soon don't it will be back in the washroom giving myself one...
You are the 2nd young lady who mentioned hair cuts today..Sharon who always wears her hair long went to have her hair cut..they cut it shorter than short..she's too ill to be able to set her hair or look after it so it was a must..she's never had short hair..anxious to see what she looks like..
In this photo she has hair the shortest she's ever had..now zilch..not hard to look after right..

OMG I absolutely LOVE Samoyeds. I used to have one when I was a child, the only thing I didn't like about him is he kept digging out of the back yard. My dad even put up an electric fence and he pawed at it so much it broke and he still dug out. We had to keep him on a chain, but would let him off every time we were outside but still had to keep a very close eye on him.
In such a good mood this afternoon..I'll tell you what happened but hope you will not think I'm bragging or anything..just want to tell you all something nice...
At lunch Suzanne took me back to Ganz...of course, so many things I could purchase so that if I get unexpected drop-ins at Christmas I'd have a gift for them...so we are rushing around, time is at a premium, must get back to work..only myself and another lady at the checkout..because it's in a warehouse they have long tables set out to put your purchases on, 2 ladies at the till, now they must have about 10 of these ready for checkout..
I was so lucky in the 'cash only' line that one woman, maybe in her 40's was checking out and then me...as I waited she was going through her purse, she was $4.00 short..not a lot right, but still she couldn't come up with it, so she was taking a few stuffed animals out of the bag to make up the difference, deciding which treasure it would be...I told the clerk to pack her up, I had change to cover the shortage...clerks both looked at me strangely, as if nobody ever does that???? anyway, this lovely lady comes up to me, hugs me tight, crying..said she was missing shopping here at Ganz with her mom, they've done so for many years..now her mother was in a seniors complex with alzheimers and most in there had same..she so wanted to treat each and every one of them with a Christmas beanie baby and would have had to leave a few out as they were $2.00 each... so I touched this lady with kindness as she was touching the lives of many more...couldn't have bought anything more than I received and more touching than this $4.00 expenditure...
Crissy, Sharon breeds these American Eskimo dogs..she has one of Canada's top dogs and I believe is president of the Canadian Chapters...puts a lot of effort into the dogs and the club so she certainly is upset with not being able to attend the shows..
^_^ ^_^ I knew you were special the first time I "heard" you speak Miss Betty.
Ok so what did I buy...
I keep saying I'm not sure who taught me that if you buy something for someone else, you must purchase something for yourself as well..lol
For me, got a lovely set of snowmen..it's all the girls on the Victorian Santa thread talking about snowmen that made me do it..honest..
then they had the cutest, yes again it's a snowman, soup bowl in shape of a snowman, a top hat which is the sandwich plate and sitting on the plate is a cup for tea/coffee..had to have one..
Then I purchased 2 boxes..lovely glass cylinder, floating candle, rocks and lavender fragrance-..all to make a nice table piece and only $3.50 each...then they had wreaths made of glass (not plastic) with red cardinal in it with a bell handing from the wreath..about 12" circle.. could be used as a door decoration or in a window...would you believe $2.50 each..hard to believe..no wonder I give gifts to everyone..lol
Then the rest of my purchases were to embellish the Victorian Santa's..was short in numbers....
1/2 hr. and we are out of here...still places to go
Even though I'm at work I am having a great day...
Thanks Deborah, not wanting a pat on the back...I was just so touched that I had made that woman as happy as I had..goes to show you, doesn't take a lot of money, little things do make a difference..
Will share a photo of my goodies tonight..my only hope is there aren't more by the end of the night..smilling away at myself as I look at the 8 unpainted santa faces on the office ledge..spool of thread and yet another gown..
Am not surprised that you helped the lady out at the check-out counter. That is just pure "Betty"! We don't often get a chance to pay it forward but must take the opportunities when they present themselves.
My work craft group is having a Christmas party and wanted something we could make and still chat. I am taking your cards and patterns and we will roll away with the ribbon. I'm going to do a few practice ones before I try and show them.
I just finished staining (2 coats), sanding, and varnish (2 coats) a quilt rack for my DIL (not Tink). It looks just beautiful if I do say so myself. Can't wait to see it all put together. Used little snow birds on an evergreen bough rub on to decorate it; low key but nice.
TAKE ME SHOPPING WHEREVER YOU WENT!!!
(running, jumping in the car, and coming to Canade, NOW)
Open until 5th of December Janice..you are more than welcom..tomorrow afternoon we make a trip to Samko Toy distributors..although the toys are much too young for my grandchildren, there are still children I know in need..great buys there as well..
OMG you'll have so much fun doing the cards...I'm around tomorrow morning should you need help..
Boy the American Eskimo and Samoyeds look identical. Ok, Samoyeds are a little bigger and I haven't read that much. LOL Wikipedia says that Samoyeds can become escape artists if they get bored. I guess since everyone went to school and worked all the time he was bored, makes sense.
Crissy you are just sooo funny...don't be surprised with my leaving early ..another 15 minutes and for me it's 4:45pm..client was suppose to be here at 4:00 just called, down the street so it could be a few minutes later..hard to be kind when you want to get out of the city...another time Suzanne might have told her to come back but today..well, it's a good day!
Janice..remember it's only about 5 hrs. from you..and think about this..if it was $2.50 canadian, probably would be about what $1.85 your money???? now that's encouraging and our gas is less than yours...next weekend is a good weekend...
Come on, be brave..
Janice, you'll have to post the quilt rack..won't she be surprised...the rub on decals are lovely, Stacey had some on the recipe card box didn't she..way to go...
Now are you cutting out the insert part of the cards? Were you able to get some at Michaels or the $$$ store...so wish you were closer..I've been purchasing corner punches, star punches, tree punches..sticker maker..you could get all the packages together as I did for the other girls...
tell me how you'll teach it and prepare the workshop materials..maybe I can help you out with a few ideas...
Finally, client just came in..I'm listening to Suzanne talk, boy she's talking a mile a minute..I'd best put the crafts away as when she's finished, we're out of here...It looks as though it's 9pm outside..so very dark...did I tell you all...11 more Toronto travel days...
Have any of you entered the photo contest or gotten in to look at them and vote? Only three more days!!!! If you haven't you are missing out on some awsome eye candy. Not asking because I have some photos in there. It is just that it is so much fun. HUGS BEV
Where do you work Betty? I'm sorry you have to stay over a little. Don't forget to pick up your ear medicine! You've probably already left work and won't get this until you get home LOL
I started voting the other day, the way I have it set up is if I vote 2 categories a day I'll have all the categories voted for the night of the 16th. There is a lot of eye candy in there. I keep trying to vote for the type of flower or animal or whatever and not the picture itself.
Betty--
PLEASE send me the ornaments for newlyweds thing......even if they don't need one.....
I would love to see it.
The reason I don't "do" Christmas is that I have no one to do it for. Besides--I go t NJ every year to "do" Christmas with all my Nieces and their husbands and kids....as annoying as the kids can get.....It is JUST because it is Christmas--and greed rules!
I just feel that Christmas, and the tree, and all the decorating is meant for others to share as well. Since i don't have any "others"....I have not done it in eons.
My daughter, Aina, that lives here (the one that just got married) also works in retail (Ikea) and, as you know--us people working in retain have NO Holidays off! We just slave and slave to serve everyone else!
We WILL be doing Thanksgiving here, though, just the 3, or 4, of us.....Mark LOVES to grill--and will do the whole turkey on the grill again. SOOOO good!
Benita is still here----running/traveling here and there to see old friends. I really do not see her all that often...... Oh, well......
She plans to drive to NY (with my car) and stay over my sisters.
I have Aina's car--as they are in Ocean City (Beach--for their "honeymoon") until Sat. PM.
Benita will leave on Monday to go back to Seattle.
Still feel, at least mentally, busy...busy.....
