Oh, I'll have to tell my sisters about that store, especially the one from Alaska, as she buys all kinds of stuff from stores like that. My sister Hope gets the L.L.Bean catalog, and I was looking at it one day. Haven't looked at it since, as I can't afford anything in there.

Christmas shopping
I'm sure they won't be disappointed. The customer service is first-rate.
Well, I just checked out STP. Nice stuff, but, phooey!, they don't have many bigger sizes at all. I could get stuff for my sister Dawn, but I'm limited to just 3 things in women's sweaters for myself or my youngest sister. That's disappointing. The 3 sweaters all looked nice. They are made of alpaca wool. I don't know if that's itchy on me or not. I don't like sheep's wool, as it makes me itch. Anyone know about alpaca?
Karen
The inventory changes all the time. You should keep checking. Also, you can sign up for email alerts for new stuff in any of many categories, including name brands, or type like women's sweaters, etc.
Karen - did you buy a camera yet? Great deals going on now!
No, Victor, I haven't gotten my camera yet. I'm waiting till after Christmas, as I have to spend of presents right now. I've been telling people I want gift cards for Ritz Camera this year, so I can put the money towards my camera.
Karen
Did you decide on a camera?
I'm still eyeing those megazooms... it'll probably take me a while yet to make up my mind, but if anybody spots a great deal... LOL.
Yes, the Fujifilm Finepix S2000hd. If you see it anywhere for around $200 let me know. Ritz has if for $300, but maybe they'll be cheaper after Christmas.
Karen
Here's a link where you can see all the bells and whistle that it has. http://www.jr.com/fuji-film/pe/FUJ_FPIXS2000HD/
Karen
$225 today at Amazon. Free shipping. Jill - this one is 15X.
Jill - Nikon Coolpix P80 is 10 MP and 18X zoom. $258 at Amazon.
That's a great deal, Victor! Wish I had the money now to get it. Maybe they will have it for that price after Christmas. I checked out the S1000fd also, which is cheaper, but the zoom isn't as much as I would like and it doesn't have the image stabilization. What's the point in having greater zoom power if you can't stabilize the image? You'd have to use a tripod for everything you zoom in on, and that's not fun to have to drag extra equipment with you. I like to travel light. I don't even carry a purse with me. I keep my keys, cell phone, wallet and lip balm in my pants pockets, and I don't buy pants or short without pockets.
Karen
ooh, thanks Victor... surfing now for reviews... you are such a sweet enabler!
i was debating getting a dslr - either the cannon 40D (50D does not look worth the $$ today) or the Nikon D90. the black friday sales were not great for the high end from what i could see - finally decided to hold off.
DH has got me wondering if I really want a "bridge" camera (a superzoom) or if I want to hold off a bit and save up for a DSLR (which I think are gradually becoming even more compact). I'll have to check out the ones you mentioned, wha. :-)
i think victor has the Nikon D90, i always liked Cannon. i would go for a dslr - i bought a $400 cannon with 10x optical zoom last year and wished i had just invested that money on a dslr.
cnet and dpreview.com are good places to review that cameras. cnet seems to be nikon biased - dp review has a very in depth review with high level comparison photos (color and gray scale charts) that i find very helpful.
No, I have a D300. Kenrockwell.com is another good site, but dp gives the best reviews.
I like Steve's digicams also for reviews... he gives the cameras a pretty thorough workout when he writes them up.
Karen, Alpaca is not itchy at all! It feel like cashmere. But I buy it on Ebay (I'm addicted.)
What could possibly be worth getting up so early in the morning and waiting in line so long and then trampling people to death for!? Save a few extra bucks? My peace of mind is worth more to me than that. Horrible, what happened.
Carrie
I agree that it was horrible, but nobody got trampled here... almost everybody was quite pleasant and friendly. My SIL and I went to Kohl's and got some great deals -- plus, we just had fun running around together. She says if she wants to go shopping without the kids in tow, 4:30 am is pretty much to way to do it! LOL
My DD went to Kohls too..she said it was very nice trip but she passed Walmart and said you couldn't pay her to go in there! lol
It was packed solid like sardines.
I've also been shopping at Sierra Trading Post for years - they're the only people who sell wool socks and long underwear I can afford! They've been having a lot of email deals this fall, but google "Sierra Trading Post online coupon" the day you want to place your order to see what's up that particular day as far as codes and so on. In fact you can do that with any company that tends to have a lot of promos going on.
Carrie, that's good to know about the alpaca wool. I might just buy one of those sweaters.
Karen
i'm another who like STP - i shop there often for outdoor gear - only down side is you receive tons of catalogs and emails - although those have alerted me to deals i've taken advantage of.
carrie i will be checking out the online coupon for now on - thx
You can opt out of them if you want, Bill. Check couponcabin.com and just type in whatever website you may be buying from. They will show any specials, deals, coupons, etc.
Another cool site for Christmas gifts is Lee Valley Tools. Aside from real nice garden stuff, their gifts are great. I always get stuff for my kids from there. I love the classic toys and games - especially the low-, or no-tech stuff.
Here's another coupon site I use
http://www.couponmountain.com/
I can't shop Kohl's near me. No matter what day or night I go the store is ALWAYS trashed. I can not shop like that.
Jen...I shopped Kohls online Monday....got a ton of great clothes for the GKids!
Did you get free shipping? I never meet their minimum and I refuse to spend their shipping charges.... if Old Navy can charge only $7 for shipping why can't they?
Yes....spend $75 and it is FREE S&H . They are having a a 50% of yesterday and today too. I had no problem spending 75 there!!
Thank someone I have a Kohls nearby - only 30 miles. I go in there - OH look at that coat its only 60 bucks - No - Oh look at that coat its 175 bucks and OH look. So I come out with a knife set. J.A. Henkles that professional cooks use marked down to 79 bucks. Get the REAL set your looking at leat 1000 bucks.
Good thing I have no kids. Now Celeste and others I am not trying to be a snitty little ya ya. I have no kids or the second generation, no nothing that cost me extra money except what I really want.
Am I spoiled? oh boy
You and me both, Sherrie. I have no kids, either. I do like Khol's. The stores here are generally not trashed, always look good. I usually buy when stuff is 50% off or more. Got 2 excellent winter coats there last year that I just love at great prices.
Hey, Victor, how do I get that coupon on Walletpop for STP? I couldn't find it. I couldn't even find coupons on there. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spots.
Karen
Here are a bunch of 'em, Karen. Tomorrow I'll get a new one in my email; I'll save it for you if you REALLY want it. Plus they sometimes let you use more than one offer at once, I think.
Subject: Christmas Shopping, not a joke...
As you finish up your Christmas shopping, keep this note in the back of your mind when deciding where to shop, please. I've checked it out, and it is verified by Snopes and the retailer in question. We may not agree with the government policies currently in effect, but we can help those companies supporting our men and women who put their life on the line for our country.
Subj: Shop at Sears (not a joke)
Sears - Christmas shopping has already started
I know I needed this reminder since Sears isn't always my first choice. Amazing when you think of
how long the war has lasted and they haven't withdrawn from their commitment. Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears this year?
How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called up.
Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical
insurance and bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up to two years.
I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution. I
suggest we all shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them why we are there so the company gets the positive reinforcement it well deserves.
Pass it on.
Decided to check this before I sent it forward. So I sent the following e-mail to the Sears Customer Service Department:
I received this e-mail and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become
one very good source of advertisement for your company. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item, even if it's cheaper at that store.
This is their answer to my e-mail:
Dear Customer:
Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback.
Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Please pass this on to all your friends. Sears needs to be recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing for our military!!!
It's Verified ! By Snopes.com at:

That's good to know!
I'm a fan of Craftsman tools... :-)
That IS great to know!
Those *are* nifty! Any idea what these folks charge for shipping? Looks like you have to go all the way through the order process to find out... and they seem to be in Canada...
