Actually, there is a connection. With lingerie 1/2 off, I would want a good camera on hand!

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Touché. You win. Patti

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

With a good lens too, right Victor? Telephoto..reach out and touch it.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

thread caught my eye... now I have to watch for camera recommendations here, "just in case" LOL

I was glad to see somebody took up my dad's suggestion about making a PB feeder from a leftover Christmas tree!

For birds without peanut allergies (LOL Victor), there are instructions/photos in this article: http://davesgarden.com/guides/articles/view/467/

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Critter, I couldn't remember whose idea it was, but it works great. The birds will miss it this year as we are not celebrating Christmas in New England as we are heading to New Orleans to spend it with our DS, but today a touch of the holidays arrived at our house. Here is my new tree. Ilex 'Nellie Stevens' It replaces the dead pitch pine. It was on sale. !/2 off, not sure which half. Patti

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

That is one gorgeous holly!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I can't wait to see your shots Pixie!

Geeze I have a Olympus CAMEDIA E 10 4.0 Megapixel. lenses and filters up the gazoo. It eats batteries like bunnies eats carrots! Never learned how to use it. Dont want to either.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I might be ablr to tach how to run that....my DD has an Olympus she paid abit for than bought a lens that cost more than the camera. She can take some beautiful shot though!!
These are my DGD..her daughters, she took this picture.

The camera I got can capture anything and I mean anything. From blood cells to the space shuttle taking off. I would have to go to school for goodness sakes. Nice shot of the girls.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Great you got a new camera, Celeste. I'm so jealous! It sounds like a very nice camera.

LOL! You are too funny, Victor! I guess we could call you Quick Draw McGraw (on the quick switching there).

Love the holly, Patti!

Beautiful grandkids, Celeste. That's a very nice shot.

Sherrie, I would love to have a camera like yours, but with more megapixels.

Karen

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I wish I knew how to use the camera I own, and please don't ask me what kind it is! I just know it might be able to take beautiful pictures like the one of Celeste's GDs if I had some models and I knew how to work the camera! I did get a gorillapod for myself like Harper's. I just don't remember to use it.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

I recently saw an ad for those gorillapods, and I decided I want to get one. I have an old tripod, but it's missing a piece and is not a good one.

Karen

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I should not have put a "watch" on this thread... LOL... now I have to google "gorillapod." :-)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

OH, that is a very nifty little gizmo! For anyone else who doesn't know what it is, http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/

I think I "need" one of these. Probably my dad does also. Hey, mine should be tax-deductible, since I'll obviously be using it to take photos for articles...

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Critter, I was just going to google it too!
I don't suppose putting it on the steering wheel would be a very good idea huh? lol

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Hi Jill. I have one. They're very useful.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Well, Celeste, at least not while you're driving!

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It's great for a video camera on the steering wheel! Watching it is a good dizziness test.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

lol, i'll pass!

It looks like alien arms

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm already dizzy enough!!!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Celeste you have a great family. How absolutely super of them to get you that camera. It shows that they really pay attention. You are so blessed!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank you Candyce, I know I am ....Maybe a little spoiled too.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Maybe just a little bit. Not much. Just enough, I think.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Now you have done it... I spent the last hour reading reviews of some of the new "superzoom" cameras and drooling... My little Sony T-2 takes great macro shots, but now I want something more than its 5x zoom! LOL fun to dream even if I don't pick one up this year!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Critterologist, yes, they have gone and done it. I just had to get a Gorillapod. But I didn't get it for me. I got it for my sister in Alaska, who is a photo bug like me. Well, that's one Christmas present taken care of!

Oh, and btw, I have been telling everyone who's thinking of getting me something for Christmas that all I want is gift cards to Ritz Camera, as I already have my new camera picked out.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Which one, Karen?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

It's the Fujifilm Finepix S2000HD. I currently have a Fujifilm Finepix S3100, which is about 2 years old, I think. This one is a much better, updated version of it.

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Looks nice. The 15X is great.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, I love the feature. I have only a 6x now. Plus it's 10 megapixels, and mine only has 4. I also like the image stabilization feature, as mine doesn't even have that. And HD compatible, too, though I don't have an HD TV (not yet, anyhow, but that will come eventually, all in good time!).

Karen

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

All good features.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

What does anybody think of any of the Sony mega-zoom cameras? I've just gotten used to working with a Sony, although I don't know that another brand would be that different (and battery and memory card would probably be camera-specific anyway).

Ideally, I'd like something that I could add additional zoom capability to... do any of the "bridge" cameras have the ability to take additional lenses, or is that only if I get into a "real" DSLR?

I hope nobody minds these questions... this seems to have segued into a camera discussion!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Critter, as far as I know you do have to get a D-SLR to get interchangeable lenses. It's a bummer, I know, but that's how it is. Unfortunately I can't help with the Sonys, as I have no experience with them.

Karen
