I have a favor to ask.... for those of you that are doing the ornament swap....

there is a fellow Dger here that has come upon hard times. she was kinda upset when she realized that she would have no christmas tree or ornaments for christmas this year. She just moved into an apartment and has absolutely nothing but a bed. I am going to buy her a living rosemary christmas tree (small potted tree) and my favor is this.....

would you all be willing to make one extra ornament to put in your boxes? I think it would be awesome if she received a surprise tree that she can keep forever, and a bunch of ornaments made by fellow DGers for her first christmas in her own home....

so what do you all think?

Count me in too for some extra ornaments for her. I been where she at at one time. My Christamas tree is only two feet high. It an artificial one that has very tiny branches on it. There was a time when I was in a new place and just a bed and a little kitchen table an done chair.

I knew I couldn't afford a tree. While walkig to work the one day in the corner of this pool and chem place in the corner all dusty and rough lookign was this tiny tree somebody had forgotten about. The price tag had $1.99 on it. Which at the time was about all I ha din my pocket.

I walked in and bought it. I bought that tree 35 years ago when I was 20 and have it ever since. I had nobody at home at the time to share it with, so I cleaned the dust off of it and took it to work with me since I had to work the holiday. That first year all it had on it was one strand of blue garland. Had more garland than tree. LOL That little tree now has a strand of lights and some ornaments on it. Every year it woudl get one. When my son started Kindergarden he made a paper Angel at school and that been the tree topper for all these years. Poor thing is falling apart and the paper yellowing, but I wouldn't trade my little tree for anything. It holds to many memories.

So yep I definately want in on extra for her.

My first Christmas tree with hubbie, oh well, we had no money, and we thought of going to the woods and cut one down, never found one here on long island, went to Odd Job, no longer in business and we bought a the fake tree costs us $5. After that year, I promised myself never ever to have a fake one. I have been there too, So Christmas ornaments for your friend Anne Marie!

Tell us the tree size AnjL .. I have some ornaments I could share as well.. I will just mail them directly to you.. Okay ....... I'm in a storm.. (nothing too serious) but I'm getting off here till it passes..

I found out years ago you can talk the price down on Christmas trees. When I was single I would take my nephew out and drag him alll over looking for a tree. We would spend hours and then buy the ugliest tree cause it wouldn't have a home. When I remarried my nephew told my DH when you go with her to get a tree it takes forever! LOL...

AuntB, when you come back that crazy SnowBank Brug is just sitting there. It is like it is in suspended animation! I had to take it out of the solar room, it's leaves got crispy quickly! How is yours doing?

I am going to get a 2 ft tall living rosemary tree, they come wrapped in burlap, but I'll send her a lil plastic pot too.
so small ornaments would probably be best :o) and I'm thinking something with a gardening type theme or really anything that when she looks at the ornament will remind her of all the ANGELS here on DG :o) because there truly are lots of angels here!

I wish I could have a real tree here, but my youngest is highly allergic :o( which is the reason why we bought a rosemary tree a few years back... its now planted in the back yard. but for at least one year...we had a 'semi-real' tree! lol! now we string it with popcorn and cranberries for our feathered friends each year.
