I some how managed to forget the thread number in the header, this is # 34.
First edit was to add the thread number; second edit was because I can't count. Pass the coffee here please; I seem to need a second cup this morning to get things right.

^_^
Thank .. Thankyou.. Thank you...
Donna. Who is that in the pic. Is it a trick of light, I know it early, are my eyes deceiving me, or am I seeing a shade of purple. If that really a lavender shade agggggggg I need it. Deperately!!!!!!!!!!!!! ; )
Your welcome Ella,
That is Ecuador pink, if it looks lavender it is just the photo, she is beautiful but she is pink.
GordonHawk did post one a while ago that had a tint of lavender in it. I know some of the Burg experts are trying for a lavender burg. If I can find that thread of his I will post a link for you.
Beautiful Donna! Have a great day everyone! Off to work, snif!
Good Morning......that is a pretty bloom Donna. Thanks for coffee.

Good morning, ladies! (And gents, if you're present.)
Sorry I disappeared yesterday. I had some bad news and couldn't cope for a little while.
I appreciate the welcome and was very surprised at all the offers. I never thought you all would be so genreous. I should have known as this IS Dave's! LOL
I'll take you up on any you can bear to part with but I have NO CLUE on raising these beauties until planting time. I have a small portable GH that I can put them in or bring them inside. My space is limited, however. I have some seeds of very common annuals to share but nothing else.
Thanks again for the welcome...you are all such fun!
Glad so many of “you” found the new thread, I do apologize for forgetting to put the number in the title. No edits allowed there so I hope we can survive until the next one.
Celia, not to worry about not knowing much about burg cutting, several of us are on our first try with them. There are a few different ways to start them and we will be happy to help you. Please remember that no matter how wonderful of a burg cutting mom you are some just don’t want to root. I have limited space also and I was amazed just how many I could fit on a window sill.
Have a fantastic day everyone, I’m off to get picked and poked this morning by 2 of RI’s finest.
Thanks, Donna. I have more window sills that need decorating.

BRUG PRIMER FOR BEGINNERS
Brug cuttings are easy to start.. you can start them in plain water.. or use a bubbler .. just an aquarium pump, air hose and bubbler stone.. cheap at walmart in the fish area... any container of water and you have a bubbler... once you have white nubbies up to growing roots you can put them in orchid moss or or dirt and start the growing fun.. place in a sunny windor or regular flourescent shop lights over winter are just wonderful for additional growing lights in winter... also inexpensive at walmart! (have an idea of my favorite store?) . Some brugs just don't root.. it happens.. they just go to mush... toss the water they were in and and start with fresh water for any others that were in the same bubbler... safer... a few drops of hydrogen peroxide is safe to add to the water too.
Once you have a good growing brug in soil, you will be hooked. Brugs like to grow big root systems so once they are growing well, you will want to move them to larger pots rather frequently if you can. I went from a 1 gallon to a 5 gallon and then about a month took it out of the 5 gallon to put in the gound and it had filled the 5 gallon with roots! I was SHOCKED! They love to be fertilized frequently also.. frequent weak fertilizing a good habit to have... but some don't fertilize near as often and still get wonderful bloom flushes.
Well said Tammie! Just got my flu shot, ouchie!
Morning everyone, and thanks for the new comfy room, and the coffee. You are early risers.
Celia, I started with one brug in June, from one JanLynn, and she got me hooked. I now have like 22 of them. I am currently waiting for my first blooms to show, so I will post them as soon as that happens. I have a few named brugs, but most are noids. (no ID's) But name does not matter, as long as I can get blooms and that great sweet aroma from them!!!
So you will be hooked in no time.

Hello H&H's, Burggies & Burgers, G&G's and just all my lovely brugie friends that have helped me along the way :o)
I am having a MUCH better day today... not pity parties out of me anymore okay :o)
I have a question... I just noticed the outside temperature this morning...it is 43!! yikes.... I can bring 3 of my brugie babies inside the garage for the time being, but I also have 3 in the gorund. Is it time to start covering them with sheets?? One is about 18" tall and the other 2 are under 1 foot. ANY and ALL help is appreciated.
Hello Clemmie, my beautiful east coast sister. How's the family? how's little Copo?? I have a new wittle one in our family named Chester...he's a MinPin we rescued and is 15 weeks old this week :o) Todd has decided the puppy can sleep in our bed since it's been so chilly. It's actually worked out real good so far, no accidents!! woo hoo!!
Donna- Anymore coffee left?? I need a few cups.
Becky - You are in my thoughts and prayers today {{{HUGS}}}
AnjL- Hiya lady :o) Glad to see you're getting your halo all nice and polished up..I'm sure it's looking beautiful....hee hee
Okay... I think I need to know more about these bubblers you all are talking about. I have PetSmart to go to on friday for Chester's final round of puppy shots and they have a "fish area" Maybe someone could make me a list of the things to buy?? purty please?? $$ tight, so I don't wanna screw it all up!!LOL!!
Okay..out to go get my Starbucks and ciggy...yeah yeah, Todd wants to quit, so looks like I'll be quitting with him soon too :o)
TTYallL...**smootches**
~melissa lissa lou ;o)
Lissa.. get a small pump, airline tubing and an airstone... the airstones will come in a pkg of 2, probably.. I think that is it... the tubing on the pump to the stone and into the bucket..... pump stays outside the bucket... stone goes into the bucket. Thanks for the smootches, too! you can have a pity party anytime ya want to.. (I am:)
bubbler... cheapest smallest: air pump, air line and air stone they have. that is all you need a bucket or container to put water in for the cuttings and put the stone on the end of the air line... put in water .. let sit about 30 minutes before attaching to the pump then turn on! That is all.. you have a bubbler.. it super oxygenates the water encouraging root growth and discouraging bacteria growth.
I don't worry about my brugs outside until the temp gets below 38... then I start to worry.. I cove them below 36 to be safe. We have had 35 so far and mine are fine...looked sad one morning but it turned out it was because I did not water them the night before... what a relief. Be sure they are watered before a cold front comes in.
Lurking, work is slow today. Melissa, congrats on the new baby! Give him a big kiss from auntie Clem, lol! Copo is fine and needs a bath so bad, he will certainly get it tomorrow.
I have not experience with those bublers, so sorry, canot help you there. My brugs were outside in temps lower than that and were fine. I did bring them in when we got an ice storm and boy did they suffered quite a bit. I would say, if you can bring them in do so and protect them until they can go out and saty outside again!
I am thinking of Becky too, let's hope for the best!
Hi Linda Kay, long time I don't talk to ya!
Nice day everyone!
TU Tammie, now I understand what the bubler is! I have only left them in water with peroxide and it has worked for me!
Also, since you are in such a warm zone and it probably rarely gets really cold or freezing. When expecting a short freeze... If possible, if you can run extension cords to your plants...you can buy some mini christmas lights. ... not the led's.. regular mini lights that actually produce some heat ... lay them on the ground around the plants or even on taller ones then place the sheets over the plants.. the heat from the lights will protect your plants from the temps. I have kept cannas blooming through snow with this method! You might get a little frost bite where the sheets actually contact the plant but the plant itself will be safe.
morning all!
just here to grab a quick cup o java and then off to my Dr appt again :( I'm begininnig to hate Dr's! grrr!
no time to eat now, so save a cookie for me pweeze?!
have a great day!
AnjL
Wow, that was fast!! Thank you Bonnie and Tammie...look slike this should be an easy pruchase. I'm on it.... gotta get this brug cutting learning down... I have a few coming my way and Todd has said the side yard can be whatever I want...so BRUGS all the way!! yippee!!! OH, and thank you for the advice on the temps to keep an "eye" on too ;o)
Hey if I plant all brugs and they get tall enough, can you plant any type of something under them?? I wanted to do Daturas as well, but wasn't sure if could place those under the brugs. The side yard is off limits to the puppy, so I don't have to worry abour toxic plants on that side of the house.....anything goes, just need suggestions :)
ClemClem...Chester gives a wimper and a kiss back to his auntie...and a ruff ruff to hs cousin Copo...hee hee
Okay okay enough prcrastinating, I'm off for my Starbucks.....dangerous, there's one right outon the corner!! :o)
Maybe I should clarify why I went through this for a canna.... well, it was my first canna bloom EVER! I wanted to see it bloom and we were having an early winter. What can I say. I wanted to see it bloom! It had 3 bloom stalks with one stating to open. I built a cage up taller than the blooms with my outdoor christmas wire tree display to put the sheets over... laid the christmas lights over the cage and then the sheets over everything.... It snowed 4 inches.. was a beautiful blue and white glowing mound that night! My cannas stayed warm and the next day I uncovered beautiful blooming cannas!... They did go on to bloom fully. I was very proud of myself. I also saved my tropicannas that winter and kept them growing all winter using the same method.. kept the lights on all winter around the base of them and covered them every night. They were only about 2 ft tall so I just had a pole in the center of their little stand that kept the sheet up over them. We had temps in the mid 20's a lot that winter but not much lower than that. Little christmas lights actually put out a lot of heat.
Christmas lights are perfect... I wanna change all the outside lights to the LED type, so I have lots of the regular mini's left over from last year. I am excited about trying this experiment for sure :o)
Hey all...I'm babysitting my 2 sick GD's today...Just fed them lunch..
Too bad the X-mas lights won't work here for me..
But we sometimes get 0 for abt a month at a time and sometimes with the wind chill below 0
Nothing tropical would survive that...LOL
So all my babies...way too many have to spend the winters indoors..
Does anyone know anything about either of these vines
Snail Vine which is growing like a weed but no flowers yet
and Pandora Vine which is growing very slowly...
Thanks
sneeking in from work, cleaned out all my tubs last night and rearranged things, ended up planting the largest tree from Bonnie since she has so many nubbies and wouldn't stan up strainght.. she was all perky this am so am glad i don't have to fight her anymore.. she still has her seed pod :) I have buds on the other tree I got from Bonnie.. can't wait!
potted up the gifts from Dollie finally sheese! welp, back to work.. ttyl
Good morning all, got a question about my brug cuttings. Most are leafing out really nice, I have them in moss. I think I am ready to put them in their first real home, so do I put moss and all in with the soil? Kind of a silly question, but don't want to distrub my first babies too much. A couple more cuttings seem to be growing roots, but no tiny leaves yet so will let them stay in the moss for a while longer. Will be 3 weeks this coming Saturday since I first started them.
I've been copying, cutting and pasting some of the information I hear, have to refer to my copies all the time. Took me a long time to learn how to do this, how simple it was, and sometimes I go crazy with it. ^_^
Hello all! Pegi, just plant it moss and all! It would be impossible to separate the moss from the roots without tearing them off. It will do just fine. That's how I plant all of mine. The moss will eventually compost down.
I think we need a new name that defines us. What about Brugmaniacs , Brugmansiacs or Brugaholics? We all know that although we've been placed in a General Chat area that's not really what we're all about, so yes, we ARE different from all the other General Chat threads here and should be defined as such to let people know what we are about foremost, Brugmansias. Wonder if "Bruggie Babes" would push the envelope? I am betting so.....
The way I feel about it is this. It's like I see my home. I take enough from those out in the world, and my home is my haven. We do not fight or place blame in my home. I will hope that the group will remember that we do have to hang tough against those "out in the world" so to speak, and keep peace in our home. If you can't count on your family to side with you, who can you count on?
Hoping today will be healing for all. Love, Karen

Thanks a lot Karen, Will get out my pots and get busy with getting my brugs their first real home. Two of them I rooted in water and they are about ready for a new home now too.
This is like my own little world, no BIG problems to contend with. Learning so much about a lot of things and just enjoying all the chat.
Love,
Pegi
Hi neighbours!!
We all survive another day, and you are doing a SUPERFANTASTIC job at encouraging new brug addicts to come forward. Be proud of that feat.
Just want to share Adeline with you all. Had all except for Lemon Twist cut down more than a week ago, and Adeline still bravely blooms for me in the bucket.
AuntB (Bonnie) I didn't forget about you.. it's rooting ;)
What a beautiful bloom.. I am thinking it is a double? I don't have any doubles yet. Still trying to get my singles collection large enough to be able to share... next year I will have enough to share I think. I may have something ... hopefully.. would have this year if we had not had such a terrible drought. No water.. no growth! I was expecting monsters in the ground and got dwarfs! LOL spindly ones at that!
We want to keep this at least once in every thread.....
