I am so so so excited he is just beautiful. I just hope mine will come close to that beautiful.

Victoria Harbour, ON

What color is yours going to be Tia? what fabric?

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am thinking red, we are going to get the fabric tomorrow. Moms will more than likely be green.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Mine will be dark green velvet...matches my decor...have no idea where I'll put it..and...so glad to put beard on him..you can't believe how tired I am of seeing him stare up from my desk here day after day..still finishing the eyes on the 15 I have here..just to be on safe side I'll make another 20 or so..then molds get put away..maybe forever...lol

Anxious to get shopping done Friday/workshop Sat./outdoor christmas lights/trees etc. done early Sat. so I can cut out my Mrs. Claus dress....

I so enjoy moving from one project to another...I'd start it tonight but it's painting class time..have about 6 or 7 girls coming so have to wait...

Should have sent pattern/material down to you guys, you can have done a bit each on the outfit and sent it back to me..lol..wouldn't that have been a scream..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. I have two colors of velvet here, red and purple, but I like the blue and green also, so I may go back and get some more...
Betty, I love your santa you posted, he is so pretty. How long is the beard? it looks so soft. Still looking for something to go in his hands, but I can make a staff from somthing here maybe? Just have to get creative!
Can't wait till Friday, and start the Santa.
Everyone have a good day.

Linda Kay

Victoria Harbour, ON

LindaKay we're waiting till Friday not to start the Santa but to pick a day if everyone has their kits...

That beard comes from the same piece as in your package...imagine how it opens and curls

Suzanne bought some rich purple velvet as well, I'm looking forward to seeing hers done..as the girls finish theirs Saturday I'll post photo's of them..only about 8 or 10 this Sat. just enough to enjoy the day with them, time to play..

Must go pick some branches for the staff...did buy various pieces for them to chose from as decoration for the other hand...cutting fur to give them an option to be sewn on the hood edge..might be too much with the beard and all...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to add, that old santa is decades old, so lost some of it's beauty..hoping before Sat. I'll have one finished so the girls have an idea what they are making...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sounds like everyone has a good plan going, I'm in. i currently have a Burgundy crushed velvet....last week I saw a beautiful silvery Charcoal Gray that I think would be wonderful...if they still have it on payday I may pick up some of that.

i will be thrilled if mine turns out half a well as Betty's!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

That silver sounds so pretty. I can't wait to see all the same but different Santa's. So many colors, and textures will be nice.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I found some burgundy crushed velvet with tiny, tiny gold metallic stars on it. Curious to see how it turns out.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Marion, that sounds really pretty. Can't wait to see it.
Betty, is there a face, so I can make a Mrs. Santa?
LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I hope it makes up like I vision it will. If not, oh well, fall back to the dark blue my DD wanted. Deep royal.

Victoria Harbour, ON

They ALL will be treasures, I'm sure of that...
any more postal deliveries today?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I got my second one today. Thanks
LK

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Too early to know yet.....wish Keith wouldn't stop to pet so many puppy dogs when I am waiting for something!!!!! Just like a little kid at Christmas....I want it NOW^_^

Victoria Harbour, ON

Should have been there by now Trisha...I'm sure that yours wasn't a package that got posted later...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty I am not too worried because I know the first card I sent to you took about three times as long as normal to get to you.....sometimes I think they must walk the mail rather than using trucks or airplanes!!! no need for everyone to wait on me....it shouldn't be hard to catch up. Laura and I have been researching items to make some more for Christmas gifts if we do well on these...I won't have a problem duplicating the body structure at all.....we have found some Santa head Ornaments that we think we might be able to use for the heads....will see how it all works out? have to take bill back to work, pick up my car from the shop and then I should be able to finish my Robes...I hope. I finally found the dark fur trim that I wanted....had a real go around with a JoAnn's manager and took two days but i finally was able to purchase the piece I wanted. I wouldn't even shop there except they, and WalMart are the only places here where you can fabric, trims etc any more without going to Tacoma or Seattle! But we make do...

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Taking a break from sewing. I started my Santa on my new sewing machine. It will be my first project on this machine. Was rolling right along then, for some reason, it's hanging up underneath the fabric. You know, creating a big wad of thread that's hard to release? Same fabric, same needle, same presser foot ..... don't know what's different. I needed a break anyway.

My first Santa will have moss green faux suede robe. Need to find some nice trim - can't believe there's not something in my stash. Fur trim would look good - he's going to be sort of a 'Father Wilderness' type guy. Hope to find some appropriate sized trees and small animals to create a little 'scene'. Anyone else doing a 'woodsy' kind of Santa?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Debra, double check your bobbin area, there could a very small piece of thread hung up that can cause a machine to do that. Happens! Neat tool to have is the long handle tweezers that are used mostly with sergers--great for getting in small place and pulling out those tiny, teeny threads.

Nope no woodsman Santa but not positive yet. DD is having some say in this and with our setting here it would fit perfectly. We'll just have to wait and see how it develops.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Debra, you would have to have a large space to make a woodsy display, I would think? If the Santa is like 18 inches, then the trees would have to be larger? That sounds very nice, but I don't have that kind of space. Wish I did!!!
Pictures please when you get it all done.
I hope everyone is going to post the pictures of thier finished projects?
LK

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Several years ago when I bought my first Santa at the craft shows, there was one in particular that really caught my eye. He was dressed in a more woodsy type outfit and had the cutest little fox standing next to him. Probably a bunny and birds, etc. but the fox was what I really liked. It was not inexpensive and I wandered around a couple of hours debating whether to get it. Well, of course, you know what happened - once I decided to go get him he was gone! She made one of a kind Santas each year so that was it.

I saw the same lady at the shows this year, and there was the santa with the fox! Didn't buy it though. A little voice in my head said, 'don't spend money on something Miss Betty is going to teach you how to make yourself! find your own fox!' LOL! (At least I didn't back talk that little voice)

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Debra sounds like it is going to be beautiful, I like the idea!

IT GOT HERE TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was taking DH back to work and Keith stopped us at the end of the street to tell me I had this
Santa package and there was a hole in the corner......everything is in perfect order except the nail is missing....not a problem at all as I have done a lot of "headless nail projects and to quote my DH "We have this technology"!!! So let the fun begin!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Yippeee, Trisha has her kit, is anyone else missing thiers? LK

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

I'm waiting patiently it will get here when it gets here LOL...so if everyone else has theirs by the weekend please go ahead and start I'll catch up

Debra, Oh yours sounds so splendid!!

LOL, my mind just keeps changing all the time.

Deborah, hows it going?? Did you get brave?

K finishing up a project and I must say, I am impressed myself...Delighted even.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all you chatty people, all while I was sleeping away...

So glad you got your package..nail missing? a mailman must be taking up building homes, because several packages had the nails missing..got smart on some of the last ones, taped it to the dowel..funny how one gets smarter as one progresses through the project...

WOW all those santa's, the ideas, how creative you all are...all doing it here of course will get a materials to make it but not as personal as their shopping for specialty items...that's the fun of it..and yes, it will be so thrilling to see all the different designs...

I was thinking of looking for a little christmas tree so that instead of the staff he could have his arm attached to the tree, but, time is rolling by and I've much to do so we'll see...

Another trip to Ganz tonight after work might bring me another brainstorm of an idea...

How many don't have them yet...

Mibus2/Gita/Donna/jojoringer (no response since she's signed up) anyone else???

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

aaaaaggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I haven't had time to start over, hopefully tonight I'll be able to. My Goodness!

Victoria Harbour, ON

You'll get it done, not to worry Crissy...we're all here to help you...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Crissy, don't hurry, the instructions will be posted, for when you are ready.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning LindaKay...breaking all records today weather wise...hard to think of Christmas..but, put my santa who holds a wreath on the door out this a.m. - bought the new Elvis Duet album just out, bought a 3 piece Vintage Santa with girl/boy playing with snowballs...ooooh just hoping that I get everything I want done tonight, then tomorrow get to take out more goodies for the Christmas workshop tomorrow....

You ALL should go out and pick up that c.d. the best...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Is it a holiday there today? lol...don't hear of any news that the postie was there

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Hey Betty, sounds like you are very anxiously waiting for the decorations to be put out? Send us a picture when you get them all done. It sounds nice.
LK

Victoria Harbour, ON

OMG Linda Kay..I could decorate 10 houses witht he amount of decoratons I have...soooo love it...girls are trying to talk me into painting a 5' (and yes it's victorian - mine's green) santa...done on plain wood but made to look like grainwork...lol not so sure they will succeed...

But yes, got some of my shopping at lunch, will go out tonight and get the few others things I need for the weekend and just maybe at 1:00pm when I get off tomorrow I can get home and start at least putting up the lights and trees outside..then each night I can take a few boxes out..

My spare back bedroom is so full of things I've already purchased so I'd love to get them wrapped and put under the tree, at least then they will look organized and where they should be...think in a previous life I must have been Mrs. Santa..

Part of my lunch shopping was to pick up material and embroidery thread so I can make Mrs. Claus' apron..know I sound so ahead of it but you must remember that if I do go to Florida I'll be leaving Dec.19th and so I would have my Christmas dinner with the family either Dec.6th or 16th and we open our gifts then...

This year I'm not at all anxious to go..part of the reason is my eldest son Greg will turn 40 on New Years Day..his father died New Years day as well so would like to be here for the celebration...know he says go, but think I'd feel pretty bad if I wasn't here...will soon have to make a decision..

The answer to your request is absolutely..will post as I go along...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm trying to not hurry but can't help it, I want to catch up to all ya'll (working on my almost non-existant Southern drawl here)

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OMG. You do have a lot of decorations! And an early Christmas in Florida too. Wow, are you going to mail your gifts, or you taking them with you somehow? Better mail them now, if that is the route your going!
Will be waiting for pictures. It sounds really nice.

I have my Christmas here LK before I leave..a regular Christmas same as if I was home..all the bells and whistles...

Then I have Christmas in Florida with Mom/Jim and a few friends who are from here but have homes down there...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Wow Betty. Florida has nice weather down there that time of year. Do you drive or fly? How nice, two Christmass!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh Betty I wish we lived close to each other!! I love the Christmas Season more than any other holiday...I could listen to Christmas music year round. Mom and I usually try to have all the Christmas lights up and decorations ready and we start in as soon as the Thanksgiving Dinner dishes are done!!! I generally take down the tree and very Christmas Specific decorations inside before New Years Day. That is only because I need the space as we have a big Bicycle Ride each New Years Day that ends with everyone (up to 50 people) at my home for a Buffet meal after. In a small 3 bedroom duplex it gets awfully crowded but it has become a tradition in our bicycle club and everyone looks forward to it....don't seem to mind that it is standing room only and they are packed in like a can of Sardines!! But all of my Snowmen, my lights and Winter decorations stay up. The more obviously Christmas ones come down after twelfth-night which is Laura's birthday......but the winter decor stays until replaced by the next Holiday. Next to Christmas I just love to have have dinner parties and cook. I do dream of someday having a house just big enough to entertain comfortably.....we went to a Christmas Party at one of our customers homes last year....it was so difficult not to be envious.....their kitchen and dining area were larger than my entire home!!!! Everything served was bought pre-made or brought by guests...she doesn't cook..............oh I would die for her kitchen!! I have what Mom refers to as a one butt kitchen....that is about all that can work in it at one time. On the other hand I guess I should be happy the members seem to look forward to my fare each year and start in October to ask if I am doing the New Years Day Ride again this year. I love doing it, it is getting to be more work each year (meaning I am getting more aches and pains) and I am ready to drop by the end of the day...but I do enjoy it...seeing people have a good time....aaannndd...since I have to cook and prepare for the party and set up the buffet...I really do not have the time to go with all of them on what is usually a long, very cold and, more often than not a verrrry wet Bicycle Ride...lol....I much prefer to cook and build up a nice fire in the fireplace....and wait for them to arrive with a nice cup up Spiced Tea in hand.

I only wish we had Snow for the Holidays........

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha how lovely that sounds...it's not the size of the house it's the warmth one gets within a home that makes a difference..my sister and brother both own for lack of better words the next in line to being called mansions, when you walk in their home, everything looks as though you've just entered a furniture or display home, no signs of personal living in them, just beautiful expensive furniture, clean as can be but it doesn't have a feel to it..Sharon often asks, although my home is tiny in comparison and not expensive furniture as they have how I get the warm and cozy feeling..well you can't buy it in a store..lol...but all are in awe, regardless of the size of my home of the Christmas spirit they find when entering...most things I've made which for me makes it even more special..some days I sure wish I'd not have given over 50 boxes away the year Roger died..at that time I just didn't want to see any of it around and didn't want to for many years there after..but something was missing within me, the spirit of Christmas was gone and I just wasn't me...so back to making and collecting...

One thing I do though is purchase a special ornament each year..when the grandchildren and my boys are over we make a celebration to put it on the tree in remembrance of their dad/grandfather..makes us feel as though he's still with us... traditions are special aren't they..

You will have to share your photo's and ideas and I'll share mine..just be brave enough to say, enough's enough..boring! lol
