lorraine, i got your seeds today. thank you so much, they're great, and i'm so excited to plant them :)

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Glad you got them and arehappy with them. It won't be long before it will be time to plant them. So many seeds, so little time.!lol

(Chris) Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

Hi Lorraine! I'm not sure I can qualify as a newbie, but I'm going to beg like crazy for seed LOL.. I've only been a PAYING member since August this year, even though I found this wonderful website in April 2007, so that should make me a newbie, right?

I'm an addict now.. my DH never sees me anymore..I'm always on here watching the threads..and today's the first day I found this one..darn it.. I need seed!!! ^_^

And now I also know where to send my extra seed from now on.. woohoo! (I'm such a newbie to gardening in general..I just realized from this site that cannas have seeds LOL)

See, not only am I willing to beg.. I'm willing to bribe too!!

Chris (the shameless hussy)

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes you are shameless, but then all us seed junkies are, so welcome to the crowd and the club. I will see to it that you get seeds, can't stand to see a grown woman cry!!!! Better watch it, you'll come in someday and your computer will be gone. Your husband will be looking all innocent and tell you it must have been a robbery!!! lol
Just get your envy to me and if there are things you are looking for, let me know. I'll try to send things you can use and will also try and make sure to get some stuff in there to wintersow. If you'll put a note in the envy telling me what you need it will be better. If I depend on my memory, you'll get a mess.!

I hope I have told all you guys that are sending seeds to help with this how much I appreciate the help and I know the "newbies" appreciate it too.

Got a box from Seander today, full of great seeds and pictures and info. You were one of the first people to send me seeds when I first got started, so I am so glad to see you are still helping newbies. I'm trying to "pay it forward" cause of people like you.
And all your other gals as well. I've tried to be sure and let everyone know who has been sending seeds as I get them, and if I missed you, I am really sorry. Gonna make a list of everyone and post it.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Gee. the seeds got to your place fast! It's absolutely my pleasure to share. Quite frankly, I feel very guilty if I don't let seeds have an opportunity to germinate. ^_^

Like you, Lorraine, I was given seeds by DG members when I was a newbie - all that was asked is that I pass the favour forward.

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

You have certainly done that, Seander!! I'm like you, never did like to see a good seed go bad. lol Amazing how many a plant can produce!! lol

Martha , Lisa, and Carol. Your seeds will go out in the morning. They are sitting here smiling at me. !!!

Lisa, I had another girl from Canada that signed up for the seeds, and she did something I hadn't thought of. Too late for you, but if there are any other "newbies" from "that country on top of us", that 's what my 7 year old grandson calls Canada. lol Guess he has to have a way to remember.

Anyway, instead of her having to run around figureing out stamps and stuff, she just send a couple bucks paypal and I used a bubble I had and sent it to her. Saved some time too.

DON'T FORGET, if you know anyone or run into anyone who is new, please send them here and I'll fix em up with seeds. Everyone is so generous I'll be able to keep it going. (crossing my fingers) With my luck, if I say that for sure, my house will burn down and they'll find my crispy self clutching a bunch of burned up seeds.!! lol

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Hmm. I didn't think of that either. I also didn't look at my fridge - I have been saving stamps that haven't been cancelled and I had a bunch of American stamps sitting there waiting for me to have to send postage to the US.... Oh well! I hope I sent enough money to cover postage! If not I will have to send some stamps or something when I have enough seeds to send you some extras :)

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

You sent plenty.!!! In fact, I'm fixing your envy now. Martha and Carol, yours is ready too.!! Go out this morning. ^_^

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Fantastic :) I sent all of the American change I had kicking around, but after I sent it I found another coin under my computer so I was hoping it would be enough :)

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

I'm sitting here now cleaning some fuscia Crepe Myrtle pods for the seeds. Need to go see if I can find a thread to make sure I'm getting what I believe are the seeds, but I think they are. There MUST be and easier way to get the chaff off!! I think that's what they call "multi-tasking"...type, squish pod, try to catch seed, type, squish, catch.................
Will post to my have list soon as I round them all up.

I'd love some seeds! I will get aSASBE to you this week. I really need seeds! I was lucky enough to sell my house last year, but had less than a week to move or the deal wouldn't go through, crazy times!!! anyway, I wasn't able to take any plants when I left, all I was able to grab before I moved were a few seeds from my poppies, marigolds, lupine and columbine. now almost a year later I found a new little house... I'm so excited to finally have a place to garden again! I have a big sunny patch of bare soil just ready to be filled up.... I plan to have lots of seeds to share next year!! Here's a picture of my gardening buddy, after along day of digging in the garden...

Lorraine, my envy will be on it's way to you tomorrow.. woohoo!

Wormsoup (I love that name), that is one MONSTER of a dog.. and I do believe he's not thrilled with being in that bathtub! Such a put-upon, sad look! He's adorable LOL

Chris

Salem, OR

yes, he's a big boy for sure. He's so funny, he was falling asleep in the tub so I had to grab the camera!!

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Mean mommy. Poor wittle doggie. lol

Glad ya'll found the thread! It's so much fun to get seeds in the mail!!! If ya'll will, put a little note in letting me know some of the type things you would like. If there are particular ones you'd like, let me know . I can't promise, but will sure try and get you some of them.

MJ, I remember one of the first times I sent seeds off I thought I"d reallydone good. Till I saw a picture of what the seeds were supposed to look like, and that wasn't what I"d sent. I felt so bad, but the others were very nice and told me it had happened to them too, so I guess we can all make a couple "seed"
mistakes. lol

(Chris) Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

Thinking about the nice marigold "seeds" I just sent someone.. oops.. maybe I better go check it out!!! LOL
Although I did tell them they were "surprise marigolds" cause I didn't have a clue what type they were or if they'd even grow.. guess there was truth in there somewhere ^_^

with that.. I'm off of here..
Good night everyone!

Chris

Just got home from an extended Thanksgiving trip and saw your wonderful message. I would love seeds of any type and will get an envy to you asap. Thanks so very much to all of you "oldies" - I hope to be one myself one day. If age counts, I'm there now but I am new to Dave's Garden. Thanks again - Fireball2

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey fireball, what an idea.!!! We are all "young" to something. And new.!! lol

Chris, we all need a few surprises!! lol Marigold seeds were the only ones I was sure about for a long time!!! That's cause you just can't miss sthem. But I also tried to get other seeds the same way, and was out just planting "stuff" happily planting parts of flowers that had nothing to do with seeds. Never could figure out why they didn't grow. LOL I've learned a lot, but some stuff still stumps me. Sometimes what looks like it would be the seeds aren't. lol

Be lookingfor your envy fireball. I've sent out over 50 envy's the last month. That is so cool.!!! If you run into other newbies as you travel around Daves, just send them over here!!! Wouldn't have been able to do it without all these cool peopole who donate to "the cause"

Mygypsyrose, I got all those foxglove seeds and Hollyhocks todayl. Thank you so much, and the newbies thank you too.!!!

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

Oh good! That should last you a little while ;-)

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

lol I bet it will!!! Everyone loves foxglove, so I know they'll be happy to get them.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Lorraine ... can I be a newbie again ... lol ... there are a few on that list I would love to have ... Lol :D ... We need a membership anniversary trade ... ?? ... lol ...
Brandy

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, that sounds cool. Any thing to get more seeds!!!! lol You are so crazy. You sent me so many of the seeds I have. Some of the seeds I've got in the newbie stuff came from plants I grew from your seeds.!!! lol
It is cold in Texas today, ya'll. 27 and for us that's like below 0.
We're such babies.

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

Burrrrrrr! That's about what kind of weather we are having AGAIN ! Warmed up and rained for a few days and now it is cold again.
Well i don't have anniversary coming up so I guess that one will let me out Boo Hoo.

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Your welcome Bidgette and if I didnt tell you thank you I feel the same way. Come on spring....

Hey ,whats an aniversary trade look like?
Robin

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Aw, there's always some kind of anniversary.!!! You know, like 2 hours since the last cup of coffee. Stuff like that. he he.

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

You are so funny LOL Doesn't make any difference what kind of anniversary ? Ok my about 2 month anniversary at Daves Garden?

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Well...That's what I was thinking wanted verification on definition of anniversary. So...when do we start???
Robin

Washington, IN(Zone 6a)

bsgardens has to take this one she is the one that suggested it. so bs it all up to you as to when it gets started. LOL

Saint John, KS

Lorraine, is it too late to get some newbie seeds? This is my first attempt at winter sowing *crossing fingers* and I don't have much to get started. However, I would like to send you some packets of white althea seeds to help other newbies.

--->noob question: Where is the address exchange? (or you can just d-mail me the info)

Thanks so much for doing this--it sure is a big help!

Susan in Kansas

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

here is the Address Exchange == > http://davesgarden.com/address_exchange/

it can be found on the main HOME page of Daves, in the Tabs under EXTRAS

BUT -- you have to be listed in the Addy exchange to actually view it.

(Arlene) Lakeland, FL(Zone 9a)

Do I still have a chance to join in the fun? I am also a newbie (April 2008) and loving to start plants from seeds. Currently sowing cannas but I am not picky. : )

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

hi Gardenia, Got plenty of seeds for you. Be sure to put that you want canna's in a little note whenever you send your envy. That way I'll be sure to get some in there for you.!! ^_^ I'm d mailing you my address.

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

Lorraine,
is it clean yet? wanna come visit me ?.........;-)..(saw post from BF and Hummer swap)........actually I did a bit of the same this morning since I WOKE up at 4:00am and couldn't get back to sleep.
Anyway...GOT MY SEEDS..yippee....I love the little colored paper packets....I hate creative people...;-))))))))))))) how'd you do those?

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Nop, it isn't clean and you'll notice Im on the computer, so that doesn't bode well for a clean house.
BUT, I still have time if I go start right away.!! lol Somebody make me go clean my house. Or someone give me a good excuse not to. I've used all the ones I know. You know, I don't feel good, it's too cold, it's too hot, I need to get seeds in these packets, blah blah blah.

But thanks for asking, mj. lol The packets are so simple it should be against the law. i have a sizzix machine and I have a templete for the little packets. So, cut paper to fit machine, feed it through, tape them together. I do that when I'm watching TV at night, or at 4 in the morning when I can't sleep.!!!

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

No time for house cleaning. Newbie dmails must be on the way!!! You don't wanna miss them!!
Robin

DeLand/Deleon Spring, FL(Zone 8b)

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, what is a sizzix machine...........sounds like something you'd buy in one of "those" stores........^^!!

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

A Sizzix machine??? Is that a real thing?

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

By golly it is I just found it. Herehttp://www.sizzix.com/categories/Sidekick+Machine+

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Lorraine.... could you take a photo of this machine and the lil packets they make... i'd be interested to see.

though i did just google it, and see it's a die-cutter

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

arejay -- if you edit your link... take the "HERE" out if it and the link will work.
