Time to start a new thread. We just came from here ..... http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/918718/
You may wish to stop back and re-visit some of the member's fine photos. I will start the new thread with two of my backyard favorites and constant visitors. I find it particularly interesting how the Red-bellied Woodpecker announces that he is about to arrive. It always gives me time to grab my camera. Of course, the Blue Jays are the noisiest of the noisy.
Daily Pics - Vol. 151
Wonderful pics Linth! I'm sure red-bellieds will always be one of my favorites.
Thanks for starting the new thread!
What a wonderful start!
I do miss the blue jays from Maine..
Wonderful shots duc! They are so beautiful!
Beautiful start for the new thread Linth...thanks for starting it!
Duc...beautiful shots of the Hummers...makes me really miss ours. I still listen for their sweet humming but I think it will be many months before we hear them again. I am glad that we can share yours.
The birds have been acting crazy this morning and this American Kestrel is the reason why. He landed in the dead tree...too bad my tripod wasn't handy and that dumb branch was in the way. It is a beautiful bird!
LOL, Dave. Yup, you've got the BB sexes IDed
Geeze, you all are raising the bar so high! Gorgeous
Beautiful pics guys!
I second it..beautiful, all of them!
Beautiful Dave...love those Bluebirds especially!
Marna...Wow...you know your stuff don't you?!!! Goodness, thanks so much for cloning out that branch...you can't even tell. I must learn do do that...thanks again!
I have to tell you all, I just can't wait to check out all of your beautiful photos each day!!
Dellrose, your Kestrel is beautiful! I still haven't seen one here but I believe they stick to the flatter areas of our lake.
Gorgeous shots of the Nuthatches and Bluebirds, and the Red-bellied-wow!!
Added # 96 to the list while "in town" today... The Rock Pigeon!! I have seen this bird all the time for years. They were all over the square where I used to live. Buut never dawned on me until today when I drove through Danville..no pic, didn't have the camera with me. A real DUH moment!!
But here's an American Golfinch instead.
LOL Nanny. "The Rock Pigeon" … gotta take 'em where you can find 'em!
Thanks Rose. That was a quick clone. If I had more time I would have done better; studied the feathers more on a different picture, etc.
I went out today on the scooter to do some bird watching. I was surprised that there were very few birds at the slough. But at the canal there were tons of robins! LOL. So much for my big day out. But I DID add a lifelist bird. The American Kestrel. How funny heh? It's a lousy picture, but I'm glad to have it anyway.
Nanny...congratulations on #96...I think you will make your goal of 100 by years end!
Mrs. Ed...I think yours is a female and mine is a male...do you know for sure?
Duc...thanks, I love the Kestrels also...they are just so beautiful.
The female Reb-bellied returned to the dead tree today!
Good grief Adel...do you have a license for that many birds? !!
Edited to say yes Adel they are Pine Siskins and they are bigger piggies than the Goldfinches, if that's possible.

I'm exhausted trying to catch up! Note to self: you can't take a day off from the birdwatching thread :)
Awesome pix, as usual, folks!
The Bluebirds are very mad at me. They have to eat their mealworms in a caged feeder now due to the fact that everybody and their uncle has eaten almost all of the 10,000 mealworms I thought would last for months! I know I've seen Starlings, Mockers, Wrens and White Crowned Sparrows enjoying them. The cage keeps out the Starlings and Mockers and the smaller birds fit into the cage just fine.
But the Bluebirds are still not happy campers!!
dellrose.......thanks. I thought they were all Siskins, but they mix with the Goldfinch so much that I wasn't sure. Yes they are Piggies.
Nope Rose, I don't know at all, my field guide just says "males have blue/gray wings" so I would assume this is a Male. Maybe a young one since it is not as stripey on the breast?
No kidding about The Piggies!
Multiple feeders + Daily fill-ups = Expensive (even at bulk discount)
Why can't they be more like the chickadees and roam around and not sit in one place and eat all day?? Yes, I'm trying to give them a complex...guilt them into not eating so much! :)
ah yes, but so much easier to photograph when chowing down!!!
Forgot to congratulate you Marna on your new bird! I couldn't tell from my books either what ours are except for beautiful!
Re piggies--cause they're finches that's why--the chickees play grab & fly.
