Nice surpises you received Gail! We do have a great bunch of people here on Daves.
Now that the weathers cooling off here in AL.I getting blooms again.Yay!
First bloom for me on Sinningia Plum It
November Blooms
jan..........awesome pictures...............look at HCY's Firerain Drop........I hope I kept one........I just kept selling them. Also, I think I have a Teddy........but don't know if I have even planted the tuber. Wow is all I can say. Don't you love Sinninigia 'Gabriel's Horn'?
You go , girl!!!!!!
Thanks Gail,It's been a summer of no blooms for me.It's nice to see the plants flowering again.gabriel's horn is awesome. Thanks so much for sending it to me.. Fire raindrops is a amazing color.I love it.let me know if you want a cutting of it.
^_^
Rob's Blue Cat has a beautiful bloom. She reminds me of a Russian av I grew.....can't think of the name but I have her picture.
2manyplants, you haven't been around long enough to find out that many of us grow just for the sake of growing...........propagation is all I care about............don't necessarily want the plant...........just want to propagate.........and there are others like me.........so you are not asking..........you just have to remind us.....I will be put it in my folder so I don't forget............
Gail is right--2manyplants--half the fun of the growing is the sharing!!
The only reason I grow so many african violet leaves is to share.............I don't grow more than 6 african violets a year.............what did they do to our own information? I can't find my folders............let me go look again........
My thoughts too, Hillbilly _Gran and Gail.Sharing is a big part of growing.
Guess what!!! I went to 'my folders' on my page and saw where HillbillyGran wants cuttings of Black Pagoda.........I can do that going out MOnday with no problem..........she has turned into a mammoth sized plant.
Jan, you ought to see my speciosas now. They are so big I am going to have to take the bottom leaves off of the Charles Lawn this weekend and pot them into bigger pots...........they are not quite big enough to travel yet.........can't wait........
I will show you what I mean! They are falling over now.........
I am doing the happy dance--LOVE that plant ^_^
Gail,
Your Bristol's Moon Moth is gorgeous. I've not seen flowers like that before.
Thanks for sharing all your photos. I've got a couple I just got that are in bloom. Can't take credit since they had buds when they arrived, but I'll get to learn how to post photos here.
Sarah
Very pretty Gail! I love that little razzmatazz..Your sinn speciosas look great!
One of the sinn sp.noid you sent to me,the lower leaves had died off while shipping and had a really long neck.I repotted it and 'Rolled' it like you would a leggy kohleria.I forget who told me you could do that or maybe I read it somewhere, but now its a pretty little plant again with no long neck. You know me always trying something new.lol..I love the speciosas ^_^
ok-- I haven't a clue-- what do you mean"rolled"?
good morning hillbilly gran,This is rolling a kohleria
http://www.robsviolet.com/kohlerias.htm
Jan, that is not a noid speciosa...........i took that cutting from Red with dots that you sent me last year...........and it rooted................glad you could do something with the roots....................
Bristol's Moon Moth is new to me , too, Sarah.................Brenda sent me a leaf a long time ago and she is just now taking off..........
Great article!! thanks for the link!!
Now, I can't decide whether to roll the roots on the big ones or not.................I think I will on the Charles Lawn ones...........
NO,No Gail. The rolling is just a experiment kind of thing for me..If your going to try it ,only do it one of your plants to see if it works. ^_^
Your welcome hillbilly gran.Pretty interesting isn't it.
Then maybe I will just take the bottom leaves off and plant them deeper in a larger pot..............thanks, Jan!
I have rolled one before and it did just fine... I would do it again if I had to but now they are cut back so they are shorter and not big enough to roll.... Just my 2 cents on the subject.
Susan
Susan!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy to see you posting.........hope you are feeling better.
We always like to hear what you have to offer.
I have to show you all the orchid that Hillbilly Gran just sent to be nice. It is on the bottom and the biggest one all spread out as it was a big orchid......dendrobium.
Thanks Gail, I am feeling much better and also my head is in a better place...LOLOL I was very upset over the bugs and I know that is stupid but it still made me upset...In my head all I thought is no one will want to trade with me down the road... I have nothing to show so why post.... Well I am over that now and also my body has been doing pretty good as work has been slow so not gotten beaten up that much has helped allot...
Wow you have some pretties there don't you... You always have beautiful flowers ... you have the greenest thumb I have ever seen.... I wanted to tell all of you that I water rooted several streps and put them into soil and almost all of them now have babies... I was very shocked at how well they did... Also as much as I hate to say this I am liking variegated AV's now...LOLOL Cape Code is holding 4 or 5 for me when I go to the show next weekend...LOLOL I like them just because I can grow the leaves so easy... Now I kill a big plant but hey I am getting better at that also... I killed the plant Lin sent me a year ago but shoot I have a new one of her now as I took cuttings...LOL
It is not hard to roll a Kohleria. The first time is a little iffy but after that it is very easy....
Hugs,
Susan
